What a cool place! While we were visiting Oregon 2 weeks ago on our last afternoon in there, we stopped by Buddha Kat Winery and were told about this place as a must go to place while in Oregon — the whole McMenamins Edgefield and Pub! We stopped by and were glad we were told about this place! What a neat property! At any rate, we stopped in the pub for dinner and had a short wait. After reading Ingrid’s review on Unilocal,we almost ordered the exact same thing! We started with the apple cider and truffle fries with some amazing sauce(where can we get that!?). The apple cider was just okay to me, not wowed, especially for the price, but it was still enjoyable. We were told at Buddha Kat, that hazelnut is pretty big in Oregon, so we knew we wanted to try the Higher pizza — spinach, artichoke heart, hazelnut & mozzarella on sun-dried tomato pesto. My husband wasn’t so sure about these toppings at first, but because Ingrid highly rated it, we decided to go for it and try something different! The hazelnut added a nice crunch to the pizza and the rest of the flavors worked so well! I am so glad that we got to try this place out, but disappointed there aren’t any in NC! Come to the east coast! Cool place that I could see going back if we ever do venture out back to Oregon.

This is the main restaurant at Edgefield. The food and drinks are the Mcmenamins standard. The space inside is nice but go to the loading dock(outside seating) if it is open. Like most places at Edgefield the building is a leftover from when this was a poor farm. It also houses a movie theater and a hostile upstairs. Service is always great here.

Really great food, and a great atmosphere! Came here with a friend for a birthday lunch and it was really yummy and our server was super friendly! I don’t usually tip people because of personal beliefs about tipping, but in this situation I did!

Best eats at Edgefield. Innovative burgers with ingredients like mint, butternut squash. Great fish and chips. Pizza has improved considerably in the past three years, don’t know why. Less soggy, hotter? Long waits sometimes, service hit or miss. Very cool historic spooky-shiek atmosphere. Great beer obviously. The real deal is to grab a bite and brews for a movie in the theater on a weeknight. Less crowded, better deal than the big theaters.

Lunch time, only two other tables, and very rude staff on a Saturday. Not impressed! Had to move our party of nine to a more suitable establishment off the Mcmenamins campus.

I’m a huge fan of McMenamins, and to me, nothing is better than visiting Edgefield, walking around the property, and enjoying some delicious brews in their pub. I’m always happy with my meals here, and you’ve gotta love their locally brewed beers! Of their regulars, the Ruby is my favorite. Visiting over halloween weekend, I got to try a delicious Pumpkin Ale too! Yum. For food, be a little bad and get the cajunized tots. So warm and delicious!

We arrived a group of 6 — got on the list — ran into use the bathroom, got drinks and we were seated, just like that. The host was helpful and friendly. Out server was awesome — great personality and super duper service — above and beyond. The food was good — the expected burger and salads. Our group had cider and the seasonal pumpkin bear. Everyone enjoyed it. On a sunny warm October Saturday — sitting outside the Power Station sipping cider and eating salad — perfect.

Beer sampler, long wait, bees and comped tots. Waited about 20 mins for a seat outdoor. Beer sampler(beer flight) was tasty and memorable. Happy hour from 3−6pm. Because of the long wait, the server was great and comped the Cajun tots. Really great with the organize ketchup. Peace

Part 11 in my Oregon adventure series! ec·cen·tric ik-sentrik/ adjective:(of a person or their behavior) unconventional and slightly strange. noun: a person of unconventional and slightly strange views or behavior. synonyms:oddity, odd fellow, character, individualist, individual, free spirit; misfit; (informal): oddball, odd duck, weirdo, freak, nut, head case, crank, wacko, kook, screwball, crackpot «Eccentric» is the only word that comes to mind when describing McMenamins. On each of their properties is a historic hotel, eclectic restaurants and pubs, movie theaters, spas, and concert /event venues. In fact, these guys famously hold a UFO festival at their McMinnville location every year! The Power Station Pub is located on the grounds of McMenamins in Edgefield. Back in 1911, this restaurant location actually served as a power station for the Multnomah County Poor Farm’s laundry and facilities! In it’s reincarnation as the Power Station Pub, they serve up delicious burgers, pizzas and sandwiches in addition to excellent spirits, craft beer and wine! They even feature a small vineyard on their property from which they create their own signature Brandy: LONGSHOTESTATESYRAHBRANDY8.75 distilled from Estate grown Syrah grapes with layered flavors of cherry & spice Apparently, they even have their bee boxes that produce honey they use in their concoctions as well: MONKEYPUZZLE6.50 strong flavors of malt, vanilla & caramel mixed in with citrus hop characteristics & blackberry honey from the Edgefield estate As for what we had for dinner, we went with truffle fries, two different pizzas, and the best damn apple cider you’ll ever try. This is the freshly pressed stuff! Our pizzas: «Higher» 12.25 /29.50 spinach, artichoke heart, hazelnut & mozzarella on sun-dried tomato pesto and Barbecue Chicken 12.50 /31.25 garlic-roasted chicken, smoked mozzarella, bell pepper, red onion & fresh cilantro on hammerhead bbq sauce These were fantastic! I was especially enamored with the«Higher» pizza. Hazelnuts on pizza is WAY better than you would imagine! And the flavors blend remarkably well with the pesto and sun-dried tomatoes. If you’re ever up in the Portland Area, I highly suggest putting McMenamins on your list of places to visit. There are an array of restaurants and pubs to visit, the grounds are gorgeous to walk through, and their general store is packed full of fun and unique treasures!

This return visit to the Power Station was entirely inspired by Sean McMenamin’s effort to reach out to me after a horrible previous experience. While his reaching out was a class act in my book, sadly enough, not much has changed at this pub. Let me start off by saying we temporarily had a Ginger Goddess of a server(not even our«official» server, she was giving our assigned server her break) named Felicia. Wish we had been in her section because she was amazing. Her warm kind demeanor put us at ease and gave me hopes that everything was going to be great. She needs a raise and a promotion, immediately. Right off the bat the silverware was dirty(see pic). A piece of food was stuck on the tip of the knife. Needless to say, not at all appetizing. The place, as usual, was SLAMMED. Great for McMenamin’s, sure, but not great for patrons as both the quality of the food and service gets spread very thin. The menu here is surprisingly basic and lacking any creative flair. I mean this is one of McMenamin’s flagship locations. I’m looking to be wowed here, something to match the incredible grounds, bars, entertainment etc. Unfortunately, it’s not to be found at the Power Station. They kind of have you between a rock and a hard place here too with the only other food option being the fancier and pricier Black Rabbit restaurant. Maybe if they opened another restaurant it would take some of the pressure off this place which is obviously struggling to keep pace with the crowds they draw. We kept it simple hoping to make things easy on the kitchen. We ordered two burgers cooked medium with side salads and a small order of tots. Both burgers arrived well done. We shook it off and were happy just to have actually been seated and eating this time. The Ranch salad dressing for one of the salads was visibly curdled. Thankfully, our server brought out another salad with fresh Ranch in a timely manner considering she was buried with customers. This is our last visit to the Power Station. I love McMenamin’s and Edgefield is an awesome venue for lots of reasons. However, I’ll be sure and eat before I visit Edgefield again.

The cajun tots were awesome, and so were the truffle fries. The«slider» was nothing to write home about, and I did not like the bread they used at all. They should definitely think of a way to make their bread more palatable. The beers and the ciders are good, and of course, its an a very unique atmosphere. Makes a great date experience obviously, and they were even having free live music on the grounds. Can’t beat that.

Ok, I eat here a lot. Some might even say excessively. Why you wonder? Well, it’s got a great vibe, it’s super loud so it doesn’t matter if my kids lose it, it’s set up well for groups. The food is decent. Not the best, but not the worst. The happy house is GREAT! The beer is good in my opinion. I always get a ruby.

A nice spot on the Edgefield grounds for the traditional McMenamins fare people have come to know and expect(burgers, Cajun tots, etc). It also has a nice outdoor patio with a large fire pit — great for when it’s a little chilly, but you still want to be outside. Ample seating in the dining area. The servers and bartenders were really friendly as well. ** While most McMenamins still have their Happy Hour on the weeknds, Edgefield does not.

Try the Wilbur jumbo deluxe ! Fried egg, bacon, burger veggies, cheddar, and crack. Or at least that is what I think the ingredients are. It is a very delicious burger and very filling. I shared a plate with my guy and got full with half the burger and a half order of chili. Now, the chili, the terminator stout chili is the best beer infused chili I have ever had. Kidney and brown beans, beef, diced tomatoes, and crack. Again, maybe in the ingredients used… Who knows! This chili wasn’t too hot or overpowering and was so filling. I had to remind myself i was in public before licking the bowl! I love this place for lunch and dinner. The prices are much more affordable than the black rabbit for those meals. The ambience is also a lot more laid back. Normal outfits for the wait staff instead of dressing up in fancy uniforms. Try this place and enjoy!

Came here the other night with a few friends. The food was pretty good. I absolutely loved the burger bun. It was like none I had ever had before. I ordered the Mouth of the South burger. The description made it sound like it would be fairly spicy, but I didn’t find it spicy at all, not even equivalent to a jalapeño. I also ordered the cajun tater tots but didn’t find those spicy either, and they were a slight crispy for my taste. Our server was very nice even after we had to ask for more time several times because we were busy blabbing instead of looking at the menu. Overall I would love to come back and try a few of their other sandwiches.

I don’t understand how a restaurant can mess up so bad. Wait time was 20 minutes even though there were plenty of tables available. Ordered our food and drinks– food took ages to come out. And my friends pizza came out 15 min before the rest of the food. My friend was respectful and waited for our food. But by the time our food came his was cold. Fireside pizza– basic, not worth remembering. The dough was thick, the pizza was lukewarm/cold, and the quality wasn’t there. Basil and garlic burger with tillamook cheddar(added fried egg) — it was dry. Where was the sauce? The meat was dry, the bread was meh, and it was not done well. Aren’t burgers supposed to be juicy? The tater tots were too crispy– 80% crisp and 20% potato. Fries– I would hope you don’t go wrong with these. Half a turkey sandwich with cream of artichoke soup– the cream of artichoke was super watery. Flavor sucked. Wasn’t creamy at all. The turkey sandwich was typical. Friend asked for ranch sauce and she never got it. The server was never around when we needed him. The best part was their blackberry hard cider. We had just come back from hiking up multnomah falls and was starving, so you would think the food would taste better than normal. Nope. Maybe itl taste better when you’re drunk(as a lot of people there was).
