I would assume that most people that run this ONLY run it for the sole purpose of getting an automatic in to the Marine Corps Marathon. I ran it because my goal for 2015 is to run the entire MCM race series(I already got into the MCM lottery, and ended up giving away my access code… but more on that later) …REGISTRATION… Be ready at 11:50am for the noon(or whenever) opening. I think registration opened at 12:00 and I was registered by 12:03. I beileve it sold out in about 6 – 7 minutes in 2015, so be ready to go. Create an account if you haven’t run an MCM race before. Type out your credit card on a word doc so you can copy and paste it into the payment screen. The cc will be the thing that takes the longest to type in. Those are just some tips. Have a fast internet connection: P …THERUN… Ehhhhhh… it’s mostly a trail run with a few pavement parts. I didn’t mind the trail running so much except the mud. It was very muddy. Parts of the course were like a lake and you had to maneuver around it. Honestly the worst part were the hills. Don’t get me wrong. This is not an easy course at all. MCM makes you WORK for that guaranteed entry. …FINISHLINE… Was quality. They had medals this year(apparently their first year doing medals) and you get your access code. Umm. about the access code. Some people were ding dongs and posted pictures of their access card WITHTHECODENUMBER in plain view. So if you aren’t running, just watch social media for someone to post their code, haha. No don’t do that. That would be mean. :P But seriously. Don’t social media your code people… not unless you’re giving it away to the first bidder. And speaking of bidders, don’t SELL your code. That’s so disrespectful to the runner community in my opinion. I gave mine away. Do a good deed. Runners need to support other runners. Maybe that’s just me. Anyway the finish line was nice with plenty of replenishment, heat blankets(they were leftover finishers jackets from 2014MCM) Would I do this run again? Probably not. Every time I was hating life during this run(which honestly was a couple of times, especially during one of the big hills at the end) I was just thinking about how many people got denied in registration. But if you are dead set on running MCM and lottery/charity doesn’t work for you, this is the race for you.
