We had a party of 8, 4 kids and 4 adults. Great simple lunch on the back patio for about 60 for all. The back patio fits about 8, was shady, private, and had great service. So happy with this find!

This was so good I had a wonderful turkey sandwich with provolone. The only thing I didn’t like was the filler lettuce. I wished they had better sides with great sandwich too.

Comfortable and friendly atmosphere! We both had a soup and sandwich combo. The chicken noodle and French onion soups are delicious! Enjoyed the sandwiches as well. Lots of options to choose from. Two people, two combos, with plenty of food for around $ 20. A quick, easy, and cute place to grab lunch!

I got their featured sandwich and a cup of soup. There were a lot to to choose from as far as soups. I got a creamy red pepper crab soup, and didn’t end up liking it but they very graciously gave me a new soup. Happy with my lunch. It was a very fair price and the atmosphere is really unique and cute!

Wow! We love to go to Traverse city whenever we can. We like to try restaurants we haven’t been to. Most are great, but this one is fantastic! The soup, the Rueben, the SAUERKRAUT! This is a must-go if you haven’t.

Meh. I am not sure why this place was so busy. Good service, but the food was just so-so. I had the cherry chicken salad, and it was too sweet. The cole slaw was fresh but not flavorful. Quite noisy. Good location, appreciated the gluten free options.

I wanted to like this place more than I did. This is one of many downtown restaurants that presents itself as a foodie favorite in terms of doing things from scratch and featuring fresh local foods; that opposed to the 60s style greasy spoons that used to dominate this area a couple of decades ago and still do outside the city limits. I had breakfast there and was very disappointed with my omelette. Mine was cooked on a griddle rather than a skillet like a credible joint would use. So the eggs turned out just like those greasy spoons these places are supposed to have supplanted, thin and tasteless as an accompaniment to the filling, which was greek and excellent. The hash browns were too thinly sliced and therefore also lacked in flavor. I couldn’t tell if they were fresh or frozen. The multi-grain toast was fresh and very good. They only had one type of coffee and it too was bland. So foodie prices for greasy spoon fare. The service wasn’t up to diner-fare given that a good breakfast diner waiter always keeps the coffee cup full. That didn’t happen here.

Casual, delicious, spacious, child friendly. The broccoli cheese soup rocked and even though I’m not a chicken salad fan, their version with cherries and nuts won me over.

Friendly and attentive service. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about. If you’re looking for a run of the mill café this is your spot.

Seamlessly nested on Front Street in downtown Traverse City, this temple of the luncheon has taken the old staple of soup and sandwich and perfected it. Even the architecture of the exterior resembles the familiar curves of a soup bowl. The iconic tile and large window draws your eye and welcomes you in, the entrance is even recessed as to incite you more. Occasionally the kitchen is so busy cooking up delicious smells it steams up the window forcing you inside to peek at the daily specials and take in the warm, comforting aroma. Once inside, your eye is drawn down the spacious yet cozy restaurant. Before you’re able adjust to the large amount of natural light and soothing décor that sets the atmosphere of a true greenhouse, an earnest and happy greeting meets your ear from the friendly proprietors Wally and Joy Green. For 15 years they have been serving great food to people everyday both inside their restaurant and outside on the sidewalk dining area. Walk into an establishment, ask for a reuben, and odds are you will be presented with a hot sandwich composed of corned beef, cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing(or an older gentleman that looks like one of your dad’s friends asking«Who are you? What do you want? Why did you call me over?») However, The Green House Café doesn’t serve everybody else’s reuben. Perfectly toasted rye bread allows the flavors of the meat and cheese to ooze and saturate the entirety of the sandwich without becoming soggy. Take your time with this delicatessen delight because the crisp crunch of the first crescendoing bite will remain throughout your enjoyment of this sandwich to the very last crust-ful snap. The heartiness is ideally designed for dunking into a cup of broccoli cheddar, carrot tarragon, or any of Green House Café’s wonderfully fresh soups. The true star of this sandwich, and its validation to be a signature Traverse City dish, is the cherry sauerkraut. Made in house with real cherries, it is savory and tart which gives an brand new identity to the classic reuben that will cause you to rethink every other sandwich you have ever eaten. This sandwich is bold, impressive, and dripping with flavor that is bonded together by provolone cheese and absolutely requires a return visit. Maybe most impressive about this unique eatery is that in an industry that is known for its short employee turnover, time and time again you are greeted by the same smiling faces of The Green House Café’s waitstaff. Get to know them because this is THE place to walk in, sit down, and smile as you say«I’ll have my regular, please.»

Ok, I really appreciate it when I find a restaurant in town that serves healthy options … and even more when it serves vegetarian made with quality local ingredients. Sorry, but this place was not doing it for me. Being able to eat outside in such a beautiful day was nice, but sliced processed cheese and cut up «lunch meat» on an uninspired salad was a real disappointment.

Affordable. Friendly. 7 people ate for $ 50. Baked Oatmeal and Muffins are the highlights. Eggs Benedict a close second. Hollandaise had perfect amount of Paprika and the toasted/fried English muffin was a nice touch. Hash Browns were disastrously undercooked: Probably a result of us being there at height of cherry festival. Perfect for the thrifty foodie after strolling along scenic Front street in the morning.

Came here for lunch and sat outside. My husband and I both had the spinach salad with chicken. The salad was very good but the portion was very small for the price. Overall good but nothing special and overpriced.

I liked everything about my breakfast here. I had the baked oatmeal, and it was delicious. My husband had the asparagus and swiss cheese omelet and liked it as well. We sat outside which was nice, but the interior is really cute. Prices are reasonable as well.

Was up in TC for work. Went in for a quick bite and order the chicken salad wrap. I would come in to try something else but this Sammy was not my fav It’s a cute place right downtown. I’m sure I’ll be back in an order something recommended next time.

Went here based on a recommendation from a local store. Our sandwich and soup was very good. Priced a little high, otherwise it would’ve been 5 stars

Here is a place that appears unique and has interesting flavors. I was hopeful from reviewing their menu, but was disappointed when tasting my breakfast. The Eggs Neptune, poached eggs on crab cakes had so much potential both in concept and presentation. It’s the ingredients that will help to deflate your expectations. When it arrives, it’s beautifully served and you’re fully impressed with these wonderfully poached eggs. They are these perfectly appeared cooked eggs except they were not. They were slightly over cooked so partly not runny. I did ask for the hollandaise sauce to be on the side to allow me to control how much to put on. It was nice of them to accommodate the request. I’m glad I did because not that it was a bad sauce, it was fine, it was just very rich and heavy. The real disappointment was the crab patties. It was fake crab meat! Why? If the menu stated it then I would have set my expectations appropriately. No indications on the menu for what I was about to receive. This could have been a much better dish if they would have used the right stuff. They had a nice sear on the outside of the patty to give it a little crunch and to withstand the sauce and the inside was soft. It’s the flavor of the fake meat that does it in for the dish. Next time I’ll be willing to try their French Toast.
