This review is based on what I saw while in Starbucks drive thru. I did not come here to get serviced but they had their back door open. That’s when I noticed they had«clean» towels air drying on their dirty back door along w/other«clean» towels hanging all over the place. I guess they’re trying to save on energy but that’s unsanitary. You have hundreds of people coming through the drive thru w/exhaust and other fumes coming out their cars, let alone if someone happens to sneeze while their window is down and those germs get on the«clean» towels hanging on the dirty back door screen… and based on these other reviews I’d never go here!

This was my first time at this salon. Not my first time for this type of service. I was able to walk in without an appointment and soon discovered why. This was without a doubt the dirtiest nail salon I have ever visited! The wooden arms of the pedicure chair were sticky and obviously filthy. The foot bath was dull from soap residue. The person performing the manicure had a dirty smock, long acrylic nails, and a dirty towel. The floor obviously needed mopping. My nails were filed with a file that was for acrylic nails that left the edges jagged. She couldn’t hold the polish brush properly with her long nails and so not only were my nails polished, so were my fingers. Finally done, I was directed to a drying station; again filthy. I will NEVER go back to this salon.

While getting a pedi a few weeks ago one of the girls nicked me and not only did it hurt it was bleeding for a while. The gel polish was just ok, lasted for 2 weeks.

If I could give less than one star I would. I went this afternoon to get my fingernails done with CND Shellac. This stuff is not supposed to be «soft» and dentable after curing, no chip for 2 weeks, and super gentle on your nails. OK…so first they start you off with a manicure. Liz was very rough. I am not delicate or sensitive, but my cuticles are still hurt! No lotion or massage either! Totally lost a star at least on that. Next up, start the Shellac. So I move over to the UV lamps(not CND… does make a difference I now find out). Liz is looking at the polish bottles, trying to figure out which goes when, etc. OK, whatever. Maybe she doesn’t do them often. So she does the base coat, put under the UV for 90 seconds, and starts the color coat. I was noticing a few flaws but figured it would be fixed with the next coat. Next coat the shellac starts to bubble up and get all fold-y. I ask if this is supposed to happen. She says topcoat will fix it. Um… ok. Topcoat comes and 4 of my fingers are AWFUL looking. Seriously it looks like my fingernails have melted. So I ask if she can fix it. She tries PUSHING it down flat. The other woman comes and does the same. Then they dunked my fingers in cups of acetone. CND does require acetone to remove. However, one of the great things is that they use wraps that concentrate the acetone onto your nail… not your skin! So OK…2 nails had no shellac and the skin all dry from the acetone but the others were apparently«cured». So I checked. They EASILY dented and left fingerprints. NOT supposed to happen with this stuff! So I complain. They say they’ll redo. By now I am done with the lack of professionalism and knowledge of the product they are using. She said«Fine. Take off and you pay for manicure.» Are you KIDDINGME??? I told her there was no way I was paying for the inferior manicure! She told me «fine. leave. GETOUT!». Oh, and she also said the flaws were from the color I picked. I PICKED A CNDSHELLAC!!! Now I am a quiet woman. I don’t get angry very often at all, I treat people with respect. I was not flipping out at these people. I was just asking that they do what they say they are going to. If you want knowledgeable nail techs, go elsewhere!!! If you want to be treated as someone who deserves to get what she pays for, go elsewhere! Never ever ever again! PS– I am sitting here with 8 fingers poorly shellacked and two«naked». Now what?!

Ok, I went back to give them another chance, and AGAIN the lady I got last time, didn’t do a good job. She put on some old base coat on my nails, and when she applied my Essie nail polish, it was smeared uneven. After I told her that it must be that the two different brands must not work together, she seemed disturbed and started speaking Vietnamese to her fellow co workers and owner. The owner told me to bring my own base coat! WT? I thought that was rude! So I just told her to leave it as is, because I was running late. Well the last time I went my nails bubbled when I left, AGAIN they bubbled not sure why, but it has to be their old base and top coats! When I go to other nail places they never bubble. Another thing, I have natural nails, and they don’t know how to shape them, leave them uneven and sharp at the edges, the lady gets annoyed when I tell her to even them out. UGH! Never again. Never had problems ever at other Nail salons.

You might find it curious that a 245 lbs, 6 foot 4 inch man is writing a review on a Nail Salon? Well, relatively very few men really make time for themselves in the area of personal grooming, specifically maintenance of their hands and feet. So, onward we go! After a long day of taking care of taking care of business, shopping, and day tripping, we decided that a little pampering was in order. So, I along with my wife and brother-in-law(a first timer) decided to get pedicures this afternoon and without a doubt, it was the best experience that I’ve had in a long while, and certainly for my brother-in-law, since her had never had a pedicure or manicure before! My wife and I previously had several manicures and pedicures done here while under the previous ownership of(Helen). And believe me, she did a good job! However,(Fong) the new owner/manager was one of the ladies working for Helen and she had always done my wife’s hands. Upon becoming the new owner, Fong made changes that were business smart and customer friendly. Creating a warm friendly place for her customers to really enjoy their overall experience while getting their hands and feet pampered. It just seemed to be a high priority for her to establish a difference between her and the previous owner(s) of Ultra Nails! Usually nail salons have a distinct odor of chemicals, not here! Ultra Nails has gotten a face lift since Fong and Yen have taken over. With out a doubt, it is well maintained, well sanitation and overall cleanliness is a priority… simply put, the salon is «On Hit». Fong and Yen are both very experienced in their craft, and do a bang up job… But Yen is the one to see regarding a pedicure. She’ll do what needs to be done to ensure those cute little piggies are feeling great when you tip toe out the salon for that special event. Although they do accept walk-ins and our visit was a spontaneous event, we highly recommend making an appointment as prom season, and summer grow closer. What else can I say, the service provided is great, the price is right, the staff is wonderful… This place is AWESOME and I would highly recommend Ultra Nails to everyone in the area to come and experience!

I miss the old owner Helen, she was the best. The new ladies are very nice, but they upcharge for everything. I was a loyal client of Helen’s for many years and though I knew she was selling and leaving the business, I was a bit dissapointed with the new owners and their extra charge menu. I will have to see what other salons are offering & then re-evaluate my choices
