I financed a car through a dealer who used this bank. When the car was totaled by a drunk driver, I felt like it made sense to go through the same bank since they held the payoff data and could make the process seamless. When talking to the Personal Banker Monica George, she indicated the process would be seamless and based on the original fico score(737) on our previous loan(Only 6 months earlier) would probably get a lower rate as the dealer apparently tacked on points unbeknownst to us. The process was HORRIBLE. The customer service was inattentive and dismissive. The bank still primarily deals in Fax communications. Doc preparation is still done in days, not hours like most auto loans. Their policies are inconsistent as our previous Porsche was financed without deductible requirements, but our newer Porsche required a more expensive deductible. On principle, this make little sense as you would think they would want to clear up cash flow to ensure payments are made. We were told the banker would come to our city. She said, «I like driving to the Bay’. When the docs were finished, she said she required us to drive from Santa Clara to Livermore. Who requires person to person for auto loans in modern day banking without the personal touch of person to person. While our fico diminished in 6 months as the payoff of the loans had not been accounted into the scores, our loan was easy as our DTI was below 5%. Dealing with this bank for anyone outside of a 5 mile radius of a local branch is asking for frustration and disappointment. They are not technologically savvy or up to speed with modern day ecommerce. This process felt like buying a home, not a car. Stay away.

I want to like this bank, I really do. Were it just the service at this branch, in fact, that alone would be a five-star experience. What really lets this company down is the Online Banking, which works well enough until some catastrophe takes it out. The service tier for such issues is practically non-existant, and will sufficiently enrage you into considering other banks that don’t deliver half of the in-branch service. I’ve had one good experience with the online support, and I wholly believe that individual was forced out of her position. Here’s my new approach: when I tell you that I’ve had my password stored for three months, it’s worked fine for three months, and just today I’ve been locked out of my account — and your response is «try checking Caps Lock» from that stupid-ass script *I’ve* read to people — you’re lucky that my response is a simple disconnect. Fix the ass-backwards tech department that seems to be running an ATT call center from the 80’s, and we’ll talk about earning that fifth star.

I really appreciate the service of this bank. Everyone at this branch has always been very kind and responsive to my needs. I remember last week getting a call from Lisa warning me about a suspicious ebay money demand that had just come in. The management is exceptional and they go way out of their way in provide outstanding customer service too. Do yourself a favor and dump BOA or Wells Fargo and open an account today. When have you ever regretted doing the right thing?
