Food was ok. Totally overpriced. Very obnoxious group near us were the only other people in the restaurant. I expected much better considering the gourmet prices.

Met a friend here for an early, pre-movie dinner. The bar was pretty busy so the folks at happy hour — who were very happy — sort of dominated the ambiance. Our server was very friendly and efficient, and made us feel right at home. We both had the salmon, which was an ordering faux pas I guess, and we both liked it fine. The salmon was a generous serving but the vegetables weren’t, and the presence of the sauce all over the plate dulled some of the individual flavors of the dish. I did really enjoy my Hibiscus cocktail, but the server didn’t ask about another drink after I finished, so I can’t comment on the wine selection.

Food is in point at this place. The crew comes here for HH and we have a great time. Service is great and the comfy seating in the back is perfect. Crew orders Long Island ice teas and they pour my Blanton’s heavy. Great apps: pork belly, edamame, crab dip, burgers, humus and pork bbq nachos.

Had dinner with a number of friends. Everyone loved it. Burgers were of course great. I had the coffee sirloin appetizer as my meal and loved it.

Nice bar, lots of room. Sweet potato fries were very good. Food decent, but not great. Shrimp and grits special was good, New York strip special was a bit tough. Michael our server is a nice guy, but forgot about is for a while. He said he was just trying to give us time to eat but our drink glasses were empty for the last 15 minutes and we would’ve ordered another drink. Might come back again might not

I was there on Wednesday, November 18th. I dine out at least three times a week and decided to give this place a try since I live close by in Towson. The place attracted a good sized crowd. I ordered the roast chicken with macaroni and broccoli. The chicken was dry and tough. The macaroni was worse than awful. It came to the table barely warm in a little crock with a sprinkling of toasted breadcrumbs on top without any hint of a sauce or cheese. The broccoli was only slightly steamed, tough and tasteless.

Ordered carry out mozzarella tomato pesto panini. Actually travelled well back to the office and was AWESOME. I know it’s such a simple concept, but everything — bread to cheese was extremely fresh. There was a perfect amount of pesto that was freshly made and loaded with flavor. The roasted potatoes were perfect, even cold. I requested a side of sour cream and they even sprinkled chives in the condiment dish! Fancy! Stole my friends lemon and squeezed on those taters for an extra kick. Boom. Can’t wait to go back and try the so– called best burger in Baltimore.

Very expensive for average quality food. Avoid the pork belly«burger» which is two slabs of fat on a bun. When I couldn’t eat it and sent it back, I had to ask to have it taken off the check. Should have happened automatically. Overall not impressed. Not going back.

I was in town to visit the University and was taken here by a local for lunch. It was fantastic, a great place to get some local flavor. I had the crab salad and instead of it being some crab/mayo combo, it was a nice, refreshing salad of lump crab, lettuce, tomato and avocado. I also had their bloody mary, which was seasoned with Old Bay and was very good. For a full review of the bloody, visit .

Decent food, nothing spectacular. I got the crab cakes and wasn’t particularly impressed. I’d definitely give it another shot, but as of now it’s not somewhere I’d choose to go back to over other Towson options.

I ate here with my family last night. It was almost 10pm and this place was one of the only restaurants open for dinner at the time. The food was pretty good, though my mom’s salmon was barely cooked. I had the scallop appetizer – outstanding – and the watermelon arugula salad – very good. I was annoyed, though, because I had forgotten my wallet at home in NYC but had a photo of my ID with me and was with my parents and the waiter wouldn’t serve me a beer. I understand you have to be cautious, especially in a college town, but I thought this waiter was being excessive.

So I’m going to cut right to the chase. If you come here looking for some great seafood, get the crab cakes. You will NOT be sorry. Some of the best, if not THEBEST jumbo lump crab cakes you will ever eat. Barely any filler and cooked to perfection. It also comes with a delicious corn chowder that has a little bit of a kick to it. I can give 5 stars because the waiter was a little inattentive, which was surprising since there weren’t a lot of patrons in the restaurant at the time. But otherwise, I’ll absolutely be back.

Awesome food Awesome service. The bartenders eyes are constantly moving. You never have to worry about a drink. The chef comes out and talks to the patrons. The food is excellent. I am what you might call a regular. The menu changes regularly and the chef wants to know what you think about the specials. My parents are the pickiest foodies I know and they ask my wife and I to meet them at the Tavern at least twice a month. Just AWESOME.

Really enjoy this place. The food is always spot on and cooked perfectly. Drink selection is very good and bartenders know their stuff. Whether you get appetizers, entrees or just drinks… its a great atmosphere and good food.

I was recently at the Sheraton in Towson on business. The staff recommended this place. I am happy they did. During my trip I went a couple times. Don’t let the name fool you. This is a comfortable but upscale place. They have a great half price apps deal on Monday nights. I tried the mussels, but was not impressed. I kind of wish I tried something else. However, I was impressed with everything else. Drinks: bartenders were fast and personable. Well made drinks and above average craft beer selection. Also, the prices were reasonable. Food: I tried the filet, crab soup, sea bass, and the tavern burger. All delicious. The entrees, in my opinion, were slightly over priced, but not unreasonable as you do get a solid portion size. All in all, I recommend this place and will go back if I am in the area.

Decided to have dinner here tonight, and made a reservation via Open Table. In the comments, I specifically asked to not be seated at a two-top, if possible. On arrival, we were shown to a two-top. I asked for a different(bigger) table, and despite the fact that we could see six empty four-tops(plus several high-tops in the bar that were empty), the hostess told us she really couldn’t seat us elsewhere. So we left. We won’t go back.

Pretty overdue review. We came here for our office Christmas lunch and while it was nice, it wasn’t much of a standout. The dinner menu looked a little more appealing but the lunch menu was just standard sandwiches/salads/soups for the most part. The soup and sandwich I had were good(cream of crab, BLT) but nothing exciting. The restaurant is a decent size, but there was only one table that would fit a group larger than 6ish people. Service was good and the restaurant itself is nice but not the most memorable experience I’ve ever had.

This newer entrant into the increasingly competitive Towson restaurant scene has grown quickly since its arrival. If you don’t have reservations between 5 – 9 p.m. on a Friday or Saturday, you might not be eating until 10 p.m. The Towson Tavern attempts to «class it up» a notch or two within this section of York Road, surrounded by a handful or college bars masquerading as «restaurants.» We made reservations for two and really enjoyed our meal. Here are my thoughts. Things I Liked: — Burger/Menu — When I reviewed the menu the Black Angus Burger explained it was a «Baltimore’s Best» winner. I had to try it. Sure enough, it was the BEST hamburger I have had in the last 5 months. Totally awesome. My wife had a seafood ravioli dish that was flavorful and fresh. — Drinks — The drinks were well made and creative, with a full medley of whiskey options and seasonal martini choices. Pricey, but worth it. — Bar — Nice seating, plenty of TV’s, strong bartenders, lively scene. Great place to crash for a quick drink, and they serve POPCORN! — Service — The service was exceptional. They clear employ a team culture where servers help their tables and others’ tables with food delivery and customer needs. Everything was polite and prompt. — Décor — The place has an oaky and dark vibe with dim lighting. I could see my wife and the guests around me, but it was relaxing and luxurious. I really like this aspect. — Restrooms — The restrooms were beautiful, featuring marble/granite tiling and clean facilities. The classy vide established at the front of the building made its way throughout the entire joint. Things I Didn’t Like: — Doorman/Valet — The Towson Tavern needs to manage this portion of the experience a little tighter. Most of the employees valeting cars are younger men who are easily distracted from their main purpose: delivering an up-scale experience. Both times, entering and leaving, they failed to open doors for guests while waiting at their nearby valet booth during a period of little traffic. Having worked in the hospitality industry, this is really important. Crack the whip and get these guys to make a strong first impression. — Pricing — If you ENJOY your food, the price will be fine. If you DIDNOTENJOY your food, it will leave a hallow dent in your wallet. Now, MYFOODWASAWESOME, so I was fine. But if you’re living on a college budget, the pricing could be intimidating. So, the price isn’t a DISLIKE per say, but it’s a consideration of you are used to casually ducking in and out of Towson bars and eateries. It’s twice the cost of the Greene Turtle location a block away. — Older Crowd — Not exacting ageism here, but I was the youngest guest there(visual assessment). This might be a surprise from the normal restaurant crowd shuffling through Towson; a town typically associated with the neighboring mall and colleges. I didn’t mind it, but be aware if you’re looking to be rowdy that night. You’ll get a few judgmental looks. Overall, very enjoyable experience. A step-up in class for Towson, but still missing a few of the finer details from the up-scale scene in Baltimore. Like it or not those who choose to eat at the Towson Tavern are most likely choosing to skip the drive down route 83 into the city, but they are still expecting a premium experience experienced at pricier options. Get those valets to spoil your guests and you’ll be close to the goal.

My husband and I stopped in for a quick dinner at Towson Tavern today. I was really looking forward to trying the place out for the first time, but was appalled by the horrible service we received. The restaurant was pretty much empty at 6 pm so we elected to sit at the bar. The bartender ‘H’(H was the name in the receipt; no idea his actual name since he didn’t bother to tell us or really talk to us at al) immediately asked for both our IDs just to sit at the bar. Ok. It right by Towson University so it’s understandable to ask for IDs and we are in our late twenties so we might look close to 21. I don’t think that he said another word to us the whole time we were there other than asking for our IDs and taking our order despite chatting up with other patrons who came in after us. He never asked us how our food was or refilled my beverage. The food was just ok, but there are plenty of places in Baltimore who have ok food that treat their customers with respect. The worst part was that the three parties who came in after us and sat at the bar didn’t get carded. Two of the parties after us looked to be college age(in my opinion that looked younger than us) and the bar tender didn’t ask them for their IDs for their drinks or to ‘sit at the bar’ like he had asked for us. We felt completely singled out for no reason. I was the only minority in restaurant(my husband is Caucasian) and I started to wonder if that is why we got carded but no one else did. Please learn to treat your customers equally and not make assumptions! We will not be back nor will we be recommending Towson Tavern to any of our friends.

Had lunch here a few weeks back. The place was pretty busy for a random day of the week. We were promptly seated and had a friendly waitress come up to take drink orders. The menu seems well put together. They have an assortment of sandwiches as well as bigger entrees. I just decided to give the good old burger test for the restaurant. Overall, pretty good. I just came back to the USA from being abroad for the last 6 months so I might of had some ‘i miss american food so much’ bias but it was a good burger. Juicy, and cooked medium, just how I like it. The fries were a little on the soggy side but I wasnt too much more hungry to eat them anyways after my burger. Ill def. gives this place another go if Im around the towson circle. Its a good place for a ‘nicer towson lunch’
