I was in the area the day officer Keller’s life was taken on Marcelina Ave., it was one of the most traumatic days of my life and I’m a Vietnam Veteran. I would like to put some flowers on the spot where it happened next April 17th2016, on the 30 year mark of his death. I would even like to see the street renamed after officer Keller. RIP. It’s a very small park with a huge mission: to pay tribute to a fallen police officer, who lost his life in the line of duty on April 17, 1986. There are just a few benches under the magnificent flowering Blue Jacaranda trees, here in the center of town. This lovely, quiet section of Old Torrance is a perfect setting for this memorial stating, «Blessed are the Peacemakers». Across the street, appropriately, in another tiny park, is a fountain honoring John F. Kennedy. I walked under a trellis exploding with stunning red Bougainvillea as I approached the Kennedy fountain, a donation from a local resident. These two little park grounds were too beautiful to promote sadness. The vivid colors were more spiritual than sad, breathtaking in fact, offering a brief, respectful glimpse of what could be Paradise. I guess that was the plan in the design, and so it is.
