Saigon Bistro is a great Vietnamese restaurant on Western Ave in Gardena that appears to be very popular with the locals. It gets pretty crowded during lunch hours and makes for a good go-to if you’re in the mood for a nice sit down Vietnamese cuisine. I’ve been here only a handful of times only during lunch and I usually get the same dish, Bò lúc lc, because I’m just a fan of diced steak, steamed rice, and salad. Their menu doesn’t really change from day to night, but they have a variety of Vietnamese dishes, Phở, and delicious appetizers to choose from that will fill you up well. The service is quicker than most places that I’ve visited in frequent memory and the best part is that it’s great for groups that just want a casual meal and want to avoid the craziness. Definitely would recommend it if you’re in the mood for some Vietnamese food with sound service.

So we pulled into the lot, deciding to eat at Ju Ju Shine and walking a door over to hang out and have dessert and Vietnamese coffee at this restaurant. I had driven from SB to hang out with my friend so Viet coffee was so much needed. The owner was standing in the lot and stalked us all the way to the streets and told us we weren’t supposed to park in his lot. «That’s my lot, just so you know.» I was pissed, was gonna forget the coffee and dessert and moved the car but he said it was okay this time. Well, the lot was practically empty is ONE and TWO: There weren’t any signs specifying which businesses these spaces belonged to(all the buildings are close together) and THREE: He didn’t have the slightest clue that we were potential customers, didn’t even dig into his puny brains to consider such a thing. Dumbass. Anyway, of course after our meal, we opted instead for Filipino dessert just further down the street since this Viet owner is such a dickwad. On our way to the car, THEREHEWASAGAIN!!! Reminding us not to park there next time and then proceeded to tell one of his guys in Vietnamese: «Next time, I’ll charge them for using my lot.» What a fucking dick. Bad service straight from the parking lot. Nice job. Congrats. Don’t give them your business.

Of the limited Vietnamese places in the area, this one is among the best. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. There are plenty of tables in this bright space. The service staff is friendly and welcoming. This location carries one of the largest menu selections for Vietnamese in the area. The food has a decent quality. The large bowls of phở come with a good amount of noodles and meat. The herbs, spirits and jalapeño slices are fresh. The rice dishes tend to be a little skimpy on the meat. Prices are a tad high, but worth it compared to other Vietnamese restaurant options in the area.

Late post. Was here during work Lunch. The building used to be a Pizza Hut about 10 years ago. Place is clean, service was pretty quick. Guy taking the order was nice, its a family owned place so I am sure was not just the waiter. Had Phở and some Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The Iced Coffee hit the spot along with the phở. Phở was not piping hot, noodles were ok, beef was ok. Broth was ok… I guess that’s wher I will leave this… just ok. I prefer Phở Consommé on Redondo or Vermont. But still pretty good. Will def try something else from the menu next time.

Phở!!! Every body needs to try this place out for a delicious bowl of Phở!!! I had a BBQ park sandwich as well and I did not regret it one bit. Topped it off with a nice little Thai tea. This place has plenty of parking, and nice clean open dining room with plenty of seating and TVs to watch in case you want to go alone. The service is great and the waiter made some great recommendations. Highly recommend for you and a friend.

No complaints from me! They have a very polite staff and nice, family/home-like atmosphere. I would definitely go again!

Kind of disappointed with their chicken phở. It’s like barbeque dark meat chicken altering the flavor of the soup. Now chicken phở is my number 1 order at any phở spot so this is important. But their rare steak and brisket is good. What I like about their broth is that it isn’t oily nor the soup doesn’t make me feeling overly full. I don’t know what it is since the portion is like other places I’ve eaten where I feel I just want to barf from over eating. Thank you for not making me feel that way. The shrimp spring rolls are ok. Just ok. But their BBQ pork banh mi is good. They are nice worth their place having a lot of seating. They also share a parking lot with taco Sinaloa.

I had my doubts about getting phở in the South Bay. The area is known for Japanese food but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of phở here. I was greeted immediately when I came in and the service was consistently good throughout my time there. Now, that’s a rarity among any place that serves phở. We’re off to a good start. I ask the waiter if they serve nem nuong cuon here, and they don’t. Instead, we opt for BBQ pork rolls which were still really tasty. You have to dip them in the fish sauce for an authentic experience, and it was really tasty. It’s the equivalent to a bun thit nuong in a rice wrapper burrito. I ordered the house special(dac biet), and it was perfection on a cold night. It temporarily alleviated my longing for the San Gabriel Valley and I was at peace inside. Saigon Bistro is definitely generous with their noodles, so that’s A+ if you like noodles. I’m more of a meat kinda person and the servings were fine. There are so many different cuts of the cow in the phở and it’s all yummy. Phở can be judged on the quality of broth and I liked it! Not too oily or salty, and satisfied my phở craving. They can earn the 5th star if they start serving nem nuong :) otherwise, a solid phở place in the South Bay.

I like the vermicelli here with the fish sauce. I haven’t tried the beef noodle. Diced steak could use a little more work, it is a bit chewy.

I definitely am a really big fan of Saigon Bistro. Phở is one of those foods that I don’t crave too often, but when I want it, I really really want it. This is our neighborhood phở place, where we can always expect to leave satisfied with a belly full of warm soup and lots of noodles! I haven’t really cared for a lot of the phở restaurants in the area either because the broth didn’t have the right flavors or the noodles were the wrong texture, but Saigon Bistro is definitely different. I love the broth here, I sometimes forget to add in my sriracha and oyster sauce. I order the brisket and rare steak and the meat is clean and tasty. We also order the egg rolls or the fried rice. The egg rolls are really crunchy and the filling is so good! I just wish there were more veggies to eat with it. At the end of my meal, I always need something sweet to balance out the phở saltiness so I order a thai tea to go. The service is also friendly and welcoming. They always remember us because we come in and sit at the same table. We never have to wait to be seated and the food comes out really quickly!

Rating: 40⁄100 pts Slightly sub-par phở. Sure, there is plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and the staff is guaranteed to be pleasant. The interior is clean enough if you don’t look too hard. And hey, the food comes out quickly every time. It pretty much goes downhill from there. Assuming you’re getting the phở, which the multilingual sign hanging out front encourages: the broth tastes flat and watery, the noodles are cheap and stringy, and the meat tastes bland. Adding lots of lime is the only way to make it somewhat enjoyable, but even then, it fails to stimulate the senses in a memorable way. It’s not terrible, but it has never left me wanting to come back. I tried one of their rice dishes, once, but it didn’t really stick out to me either. It’s amazing how close I live to Saigon Bistro, but how seldom I go. And though there is some slightly better phở just a few blocks down, I find myself rarely settling for Vietnamese in this area. Given the current offerings, I’m much more inclined to drive far off for something better, or stick to one of the cuisines that Torrance handles better. Two stars means I’ve experienced better.

Satisfied my phở craving and very similar to what I am used to. only down side there is no tripes, but they had meatballs, so I can live with that.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. I had the phở tai, and while it was not prepared rare, the flavor of the broth was excellent. The crispy spring rolls were also top notch. This has made my short list for phở in LA.

We came here because Tastemade ranked Saigon Bistro 5th on their 2015 Top 7 Phở list. I tried to explain this to the guy up front and he just nodded and gave me a straw. I save my five star reviews for places with free diet coke refills, but this is a strong 4.5 stars. The broth was so good, and it naturally had a little heat. There were no questionable pieces of steak, nothing knuckley or fatty, and I felt that I got enough. The BBQ chicken rolls were a great appetizer. And the price wasn’t bad. They’re not open Saturdays. It’s weird to have blackout dates at a phở kitchen.

Customer service is fairly well here depending on when you come. If you stop by while they’re busy, they won’t be as quick as usual(which is to be expected seeing as the place was completely full when we went). If you go when there aren’t many people there, they are on point with making sure you’re taken care of. The food is great! I’ve had the phở and a rice dish and my mom had the egg rolls. Whenever I come here everyone in my party loves their food. I prefer this place to Phở King Way so if you live in the area and don’t mind the traffic to get to it, it’s well worth it! I also love the Thai Tea! Note: they are closed on Saturdays

Great Phở at a great price! Parking could be problematic since they share the parking lot with another restaurant(Tacos Sinaloa #3) Fast friendly service!!! I ordered the beef meatball tendon soup. It was delicious!!! Very generous with the tendon pieces as well as the beef meatballs. Also tried the shrimp spring rolls and the crispy egg rolls. I could get soooo addicted to these two appetizers. All in all a great dining experience!
