Lots of ramen spots in the area and this place was decent. You can get spice level 1 – 3 with 3 being the hottest. So of course I got spice level 3 with the regular #1 Shisen Ramen. It wasn’t knock-your-socks-off spicy, but it had a decent kick to it. The broth was nice and flavorful, not too thick, not too salty but good flavor. I added Chashu to mine since it didn’t come with it. The pork was thinly sliced and just average. I like the thicker melt-in-your-mouth type of pork in my ramen. Not here. The other ingredients are interesting. Seemed to have chinese influence to it. For instance, I found a bok choy in mine. It tasted good but just wasn’t expecting that. Also had ground beef and some other chinese veggies. Noodles were on the thinner side and just average tasting. Overall, decent ramen spot. I’d come back if I’m craving some bok choy ramen.

Highly recommend getting #3 the beef bowl. It is to die for! Also, don’t recommend having a large party. The place is pretty small so it can be a nice dinner date

Went here for dinner last night and it was around 8:30 it was pretty empty in the restaurant which I enjoyed because it a very small location and when it gets busy there is no where to sit. The waiter was very sweet she explained th menu and took my order and brought our drinks right away. Our food came out within 5 min. I love this place and will definitely be back soon.

Very nice staff. Clean and quiet atmosphere. Ordered beef shisen spicy level 2 and wasn’t spicy but added more spice of course. I liked it. Lots of flavor. Didn’t fill me up though even after adding fried chicken and ordering gyoza. I recommend this place :)

Small hole in the wall but really good ramen. Thin noodles and spicy buy really delicious. It’s nice to go to place that has their own unique style. Definitely a go to place

We were a bit out of position/location to get up to Gardena’s 新選組, so tried here, its Chinese style ramen. It’s fair, nothing impressive and it did not fail, so it’s a3 stars. The kuro garlic was not flavorful enough. Fried rice was a bit both lumpy and dry, borderline failed. Should have gone up a few blocks north on western to Hakata but then we always wanted to explore new ramen joint we haven’t been to before …

I been coming here for a while now One of my favorite ramen places in the South Bay. I typically come here for lunch, they have lunch specials that are really affordable. The ramen always comes out really hot just how I like it. I get the Shisen ramen spicy, it’s not over spicy where you can’t taste anything else, but just enough to get a nice kick. There is ample parking here, never had an issue here

I think the ramen was average but the fried chicken was pretty good. The quality overall is a 3 star but I gave them a 4-star because they had great service and they are open late.

Love this place, have been here several times with friends and family. Really like the black ramen and and the coconut ramen. My son always gets the lunch special that comes with fried rice. So much food you can’t really eat it all. Also they have cold beer or sake if you go in the evening.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for a few weeks now. Decided to take myself on a hot date tonight :3 and my tummy couldn’t be more satisfied! There were only about 5 other people inside, so I got to choose where to sit. Took a nice little table on the corner. ^_^ I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and a half order of fried rice. Waited no more than 15 minutes. The pork in my tonkotsu was super tender. Broth was really rich and tasty. A little too salty, but nothing to complain about… better than under-seasoned. Fried rice was good too. So much flavor going on here! Not a-lot of toppings to choose; NOEGG. ;_; But they offer a few different types of ramen. Honestly exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to try again.

Visited this ramen place during lunch today. They have three different lunch specials, combo a, b and c. I got the combo a which consisted of Shisen ramen plus a plate of fried rice for $ 8.90. My coworker ordered combo b which came with the Shisen ramen plus gyoza and fried rice. The place is not very big, at most 30 – 35 people max. Great for lunch, as there isn’t a lot of people eating or waiting in line. Overall really good place to get a quick bite if you are in a rush. Our food came out quickly, less than about 10 minutes. In n out of the restaurant in less than an hour, score!

Oh man, had to review this place again because it always hits the spot no matter what. I especially like coming here at night since the atmosphere is more lively. I got served by a nice young lady who was quick to refill my drinks, and get me what I wanted. She was really polite, and made the whole experience great. I usually get the shinsen ramen, comes with noodles, spicy miso, and lots of veggies. I also get a side of their fried rice because it’s unlike any other. I know I wasn’t the only one that had a great experience because as another customer was leaving, he told the cook he was an amazing cook, and thanked the cook and server personally. Will be coming back!

Ooooh where to begin! I’m keeping it simple for everyone. this place is goooooooood! Went their for lunch and had their lunch combo spicy of course and the broth was excellent and that side of fried rice I am definitely going back to try out the rest of their menu since it’s so close work. Sorry if my review is simple but I am no Ramen expert I just sit and eat and if I like it I like if not I move on to the next spot!

Ramen joint closer to harbor city. Great plus it’s open until 1am but last call is 1230am on the weekdays but check out the weekend times for they close earlier. They specialize in the shisen ramen which was definitely lighter than a pork based broth. I got the black shisen ramen. Even though it was lighter bodied broth it still had plenty of flavor. You can add extra toppings but I kept it basic with a slice of pork and green onions that were beautifully curled. Late night ramen craving fulfilled after a long day at work. Plus side you can do to go, not a lot of ramen places allow that.

Came here with my boyfriend because he really likes it here. But I had a very unpleasant experience here. We both ordered the Combination C which comes with Shisen ramen, gyoza, and karaage for $ 12.99. I thought this was a little steep compared to most ramen places with combination special. I ordered a water and my boyfriend ordered a green tea. We were two of three people that were in the restaurant. Our ramen came out very quickly. We were going to wait for the rest of our food to start eating but after about 7 minutes of nothing else, we decided to start. After about 15 minutes our karaage came but we still hadn’t gotten our drinks. After about 10 more minutes I finally reminded the waiter about our drinks and he apologized and went and got them. About 5 minutes later our gyoza came. They have three sauces at the table– spicy, soy sauce, and vinegar. I like to have vinegar mixed with soy sauce with my gyoza so I poured the soy sauce and when I went to pour the vinegar I saw there was a fly in the container. Ew! Even though the food took forever and there was a fly in the vinegar, the food was still decent. The ramen only had ground up meat which I don’t like at all– I’d rather have a pork slice up in it– and it was a little spicy for the basic ramen choice. The karaage was probably my favorite thing about the place. Nothing special about the gyoza. Probably won’t be coming back.

Very small place, with four closely-spaced tables and an L-shaped bar. Somewhat old and dingy. Stark, undecorated walls. Menu was somewhat small. So ambiance and service were two stars, although the first string staff is off on Mondays at many places. Menu was somewhat small. Mostly ramen, but the gyoza and fried chicken seemed popular. Sapporo pitcher was a reasonable $ 15. But they do have it where it counts– large bowls of 4-star hot ramen in the $ 7-$ 8 range. Crisp veggies. Daughter’s seafood ramen was very good. They even made a special veggie ramen for me which wasn’t on the menu. Don’t take American Express or $ 100 bills, apparently. All in all, I’ll stick with Eboshi, which is closet to home anyway.

Lalala Ramen Pass Stop #2 Black Garlic Shisen Ramen with Karaage. There is a 30 bowl limit with the ramen pass per day. I called first to make sure it wasn’t over the limit yet. The nice lady told me it was still good and I was on my way! Check your navigation for this place. Using the Unilocal app to open my Maps App, It put me on the wrong side of the street. Good thing I saw their sign whoa. The place is small. They have a counter area that forms an L shape around the kitchen and some tables behind the counter. The Black Garlic Shisen Ramen with Karaage(Fried Chicken) was so so good. The broth with that black garlic sauce was money! It had a few pieces of pork in there as well that was good. The noodles were thinner than the regular ramen noodle I’m used to. The karaage was DELICIOUS! It was in the soup though, but it was still very good. I would have preferred it served separately to preserve the crunchiness. Service was super friendly. Over all a really good ramen dish. I would have preferred the thicker ramen noodles for this dish. Even though the thin noodles were good. It was hard to slurp them lol. A very solid 4 Stars! Try them out for yourself and decide. 2014 Review #329/365

Very small establishment, came here again for the LA Ramen 50% off deal. They had only one type of ramen available for the special, which was the Garlic Black Shisen Ramen with Fried Chicken, of which only 30 bowls per day are being offered. This was my third bowl of ramen for the week, so I may have been a little ramened out, but I was underwhelmed overall. The fried chicken batter ended up being soggy, so there wasn’t much point to being fried and they don’t serve soft boiled egg which is my favorite. Service was slow, but they had a big Help Wanted Waiter sign up and the waiter was doing his best to take care of everyone, so I don’t blame them on service as it’s not his fault and it was really busy during lunch. The soup flavor was ok, I could see the black garlic sauce but it wasn’t that strong. The noodles were nice textured, but like I said I was ramened out for the week so it didn’t jump out at me as amazing. I also ordered an extra side of curry fried rice(good thing I was sitting at the bar, because I heard the waiter order regular fried rice for me and I immediately corrected him). The curry fried rice was great! They have lunch combo specials which is nice too. Easy parking in the shopping center, decent combos during lunch but a little more expensive than most ramen places.

Garlic Black Shisen Ramen with chicken Kaarage. We were first in line on the first day of the LALALA Ramen pass and decided to patronize the spot with the one of the most expensive ramen dishes. Price really wasn’t the main determining factor, the pics on the LALALA page, of the rich looking broth were. Ginger black garlic oil encircled the broth with enticing aromas. Topped with generous pieces of moist and flavorful chicken karaage, this was one hearty bowl of ramen. As we worked our way through the bowl I also discovered flavorful bits of ground up pork in the broth. The broth was rich and flavorful without being too fatty. The ginger black garlic oil added a nice bright dimension to the broth and we didn’t need to do anything to adjust. We just slurped away and enjoyed. Thanks LALALA for bringing this little ramen spot to our attention. They serve tasty eats here.
