Reviews looked great but this place is CLOSED… bummer. PLEASE update your Unilocal page… this is discouraging for busy sandwich lovers looking for new places to eat.

An A+ neighborhood deli with a real friendly feel. Food is REALLY fresh and Johnny puts his heart into everything he makes. This is the small, neighborhood business I love supporting!

since im a «yelp er» now I thought i would leave a review for this deli. I stumbled in on accident and i must say WOW… amazing quality and freshness. Great sandwich and potato salad. Johnny is a great guy, very friendly and appreciative of his customers. His sandwiches are a fresh as they come. Great little spot.

I rarely venture out to try new lunch places because I’m usually short on time, but my co-worker & I decided to see what was out there via Unilocal reviews. Since Johnny C’s was rated so well, I thought I’d try it out! The place itself is super quiet and clean. Johnny welcomed us in, showed us three great lunch specials, and was so easy-going that he had us sit and eat before we even paid. I ordered the ham & cheese panini with macaroni salad. The sandwich was really simple, but absolutely delicious! The tomatoes were flavorful, the bread was toasted without being too crunchy, and the amount of mayo & mustard was just right :) There was no waiting in lines, no rushed service, and food was great!

Another great sandwich shop option in Old Torrance. Service is great as well as the food. I recently went to the Old Torrance Bakery to find that the line was way too long… so I came here instead. I was able to get in and out quick while avoiding the long lines of the other sandwich shop.

Great customer service! I really, really wanted to give this place a higher score. I came in for lunch and Johnny went through the different specials of the day. Based on Hue M’s review, I went for the Hollywood Chicken Panini($ 6.95), which had hot pieces of chicken, pesto sauce and sundried tomatoes. While I was waiting for my food, Johnny and I talked sports. He seems like a really nice guy. The panini was very good! It was piping hot with a generous amount of pesto sauce; the bread was very fresh as well. The only thing is, well, the portions were on the small side. I recently gave another sandwich shop in the area 4 stars, and for the same price @ that place I could get a great tasting sandwich that was about 30% larger — so it’s hard for me to give this place the same rating. If you’re not super hungry, want a tasty meal and some great customer service; I recommend you give Johnny’s a try!

Johnny is SUPER nice! We worked the street fair in Old Torrance today for my work(Eddie’s Barbershop) and he took care of me & my staff w/SUPER bomb Meatball sandwiches. There are VERYFEW places that take pride in quality, this is one of the FEW! Food was amazing, Johnny is amazing… But dont take my word for it, go see for yourself :-)

The wife and I have lived in Old Downtown Torrance for at least a couple years now and every time we wanted to try Johnny C’s Deli, we always seem to go at the wrong time. Well, this time we went when it was open and I am definitely going to have to put their hours in my calendar on my phone, because their food is good. Smaller portions than Subway, but more filling and it’s made with love. Plus, it’s a mom and pop type of shop. I try to go and support mom and pop shops as much as I can when I can afford it, especially being a disabled combat veteran on a limited means of income. But anyways, he is very friendly, and once again the sandwiches are good. I had the Italian Sausage, while my wife had the Corned Beef which was on special and we both loved it. I am not too big of a fan of macaroni salad, but his mac salad was good. Johnny has two new customers who will be returning again…

I thought for the cost and quality, I think there are better places. I had the pastrami and the size was okay but not stuffed. Loved the potato salad. Added up that came up to be about $ 8 just for 2 things. Add in the soda and it was $ 10. For $ 10, there are a lot of places you can go to.

This is the gem I’m always looking for. Find a place like this and frequent it often. I’m talking about hole in the wall family run joints like this one. Good food, better service. Punch the address into your navigation system because it is a little off the beaten path. In the mood for a good sandwich? Come by and say hi to Johnny, he’s cool people.

Hmmmmm what ever happened to those nice little mom and pop businesses that always seemed to taste so much better than the corporate monsters? Johnny c’s is the answer to that question. The owner is named Johnny C. And he is there working his little deli every day. He interacts with all his costumers and he can keep a conversation going. Enough about him. His food is delicious. Portions may be smaller than places like Ralph deli, but the items have so much more flavor. The first time I went here I was just craving a panini. I asked him what I should try and he listed off a few items. One such item was his meatball sandwich. I know. «meatball sandwich? How hard is that to make». Well let me tell u, it can go pretty wrong. Johnny on the other hand, made a meal that I thought was outstanding. He turned a normal generic sandwich into something different. It had so much more flavor than places like subway. I will decently come back to his sandwiches. Another plus. Was the fact he even makes special orders for extra meat, if u want to take some home. Prices r not up, but if u ask. He is friendly enough to help u out with whatever you may need.

Went to Johnny C’s with a girl friend of mine for lunch today. Ordered the meatball sub, which was good. The mozzarella melted nicely, and the bun was soft. The meatballs were tender and flavorful. The salad was your typical iceberg lettuce, which is so-so. Service was fantastic, and I like the low-key environment. While it may be a whole in the wall, the store is located in a nice mixed-use building development on Post Ave. Lots of street parking is available. My friend ordered a salad, and requested no cheese. Johnny C was very friendly and made a whole new salad just for her, with dressing on the side. Came out to ask if that was enough dressing. Definitely coming back to this place to try something else :)

It is pretty funny, Supposedly Johnny was talking bad about Obama with a fellow customer when I walked in. As supporter of Obama, I was not happy with something he did not do. But I am reviewing his restaurant not him :-). i am generally pleased with the sandwich. Good taste. The macaroni salad is tangier than I have had before. It is surprisingly good. It was not offending really. At the end of the meal, i needed more sandwich and Panini. The portion was very small compared to other restaurants. It would be, «healthy» portion as some other Unilocaler puts it. I will definitely go back on Wednesday as they do have Roast Beef Sandwich on special.

As soon as I walked through the door, Johnny enthusiastically greeted me. Friendliness goes a long way with me. He told me about his specials at length and suggested The Torpedo. He gave me a few menus and offered to deliver the next time I had a hankering for a sandwich. The sandwich itself was fantastic. It was packed with mortadella, turkey, pepperoni, cheese and sundried tomatos. The bread was chewy with a crunchy exterior. I would definitely suggest this place, not only for the great food but for the awesome service. Update. I just ordered a Mr. Mo’s Italian Sausage sandwich for lunch, and it was hands down the best sandwich I have ever had.

Great food and great personalized service — and they deliver! I found out about Johhny C’s through a friend and never in a million years did I expect to actually deal with the owner directly. Johnny provides super sincere and personalized service to ensure that each order is exactly what you are looking for. He followed up before, during and after to make sure that everything was spot on. You don’t see this type of service every day — way to go! I catered a team work lunch and everyone was very pleased — no easy task! I highly recommend Johhny C’s Homestyle Deli to anyone in the Torrance area looking for excellent service and super tasty sandwiches for lunch!

In a world filled with franchised subpar sammich shops, it’s always great to find a hole in the wall joint that goes the extra mile. Johnny C’s is such a place. On my first visit there, I didn’t know what to get. Johnny proceeded to give me samples to aid my decision. Ironically, it made it tougher. The customer service here is amazing and makes you want to come back. The portions are a bit small for the price, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it.

Hollywood Chicken Panini. That’s all you need to know. Amazing. Fresh. Delicious. I could eat 3 of these sandwiches. Granted the portion is small, but the flavor is incredible! Im sad about this place… it’s hidden, there’s barely a sign that indicates what it is, what it provides. I want to put up a big banner that screams BESTFRESHESTMOSTDELICIOUSSANDWICHESEVER. But ya know, I don’t run this place, so that ain’t happenin’. The prices are a little high in comparison to the portion. However, the service makes up for it. Johnny makes the food himself. Everyday. Fresh. He’s friendly. Very personal. He treats you like a friend than a customer. Don’t make the mistake of going across the street to the other deli. Make sure you’re going to Johnny C’s deli. You won’t regret it. :)

I try and hit this place whenever I can for lunch and even a light dinner before he closes. The food is hand made in front of you and Johnny makes you feel welcome. The paninis are always my favorite and I have yet to have a sandwich that was less than great. The place is the best kept secret in Torrance and is well worth the money and time.

The food quality is excellent and Johnny is very friendly, makes you feel welcome from the time you enter. Independently owned and operated deli’s like this make me wonder why I ever go to Subway or Quiznos. The sandwiches here are far better quality than anything you will find at a fast food restaurant or big chain. I know it is cliché, but he puts love into his food. Something you do not get with a 19-year old kid making $ 8/hour. I typically order the paninni’s. Warm with melted cheese. Yumm! The side salads are made fresh by Johnny every day. At the end of your meal, you walk out full, satisfied and with plenty of change still in your pocket.

Post is a small, unassuming street in old Torrance, and it’s away from all the parking chaos that sometimes is that area. I have never been a big fan of hanging out in downtown Torrance, just because finding parking during lunch is sometimes a pain. But this place was great. We walked in at noon and not a soul, but it was clean and had plenty of seats inside. There were a couple of tables outside with an umbrella. Johnny greeted us warmly and told us about the special combos, one of which was a tuna sandwich, small mac or potato salad and a drink for $ 6.95. I was sold. I got it with this nutty bread, and he even brought out a slice for me to look at. He told us to grab some seats and he’d bring it out for us. You get a pickle and pepper on the side if you want. So we just chilled and there were hardly any people around. Parking was no prob in that area. It was a perfect lunch spot. He brought out our sammiches, some napkins and salt and pepper. We went in and paid afterwards, and was just a great lunch altogether. They cater too, so I’m going to be sure to keep them in mind next time. I love the local businesses. Johnny was great and just an all around nice guy. Check it out next time you’re in Torrance and just feel like grabbing a sandwich, and they even do panninis!
