Sadly the place has PERMANENTLYCLOSEDDOWN. Since last Saturday… One of the BESTBBQ places I’ve been to. Nicest owner ever and big selection on great eats. Love their garlic macaroni salad and potato salad. Don’t even get me started on their BBQ baked beans with small pieces of BBQ meat in it! Will be dearly missed, you can find their FB page and see updates on where their next location will be. The owner says they are looking for a new location close by! Can’t wait!

I am lucky enough to be Terry’s daughter who is the owner of Trading Post that many of you have written such kind words about. Today marks the ending of an era. My family and I have met some of our lifelong best friends through my Dad’s work, The Trading Post Liquor & Deli. For over 40 years he has served the South Bay with delicious BBQ, ice cold drinks and a warm heart. Today, March 21st, will be his last day of business. Go down there and see him, stay for a while, eat some ribs & enjoy all the love that will be there. His store was The Cheers of the South Bay and today, he says goodbye. Thank you Trading Post for running the bar at the Mayfair for SSF&P, for the hundreds of Gatorades you served to my teammates and I for 17 years of softball, for catering all of my families special occasions, for the food at our USC tailgates, and most importantly, for keeping your doors open for business for the last 58 years. Torrance will never be the same. We love you.

such a sad story cause of a bastard of a landlord… such a great neighborhood joint… its gonna be gone forever. Ur neighbors here in torrance, gardena and curson say thanks to Terry his family and the crew for all the years of great food, drinks and just being such a great guy. And forget bout the landlord…

To mark my 2nd annual Super Bowl extravaganza my friends and I decided to go grab some bbq. After a quick search we chose to go to the Hole in the Wall Deli. As the name implies, this small deli is located inside a liquor store. They offer a fairly diverse selection of food; ranging from sandwiches, to burgers, and of course BBQ. Since it was the Super Bowl the Deli was somewhat busy, as a result they ran out of the beef ribs and brisket, which was such a bummer. The first thing you’ll notice are the low prices, especially for bbq, which typically runs upwards from 12 – 18 $. What’s even better is that most of their combo plates are under 10 $; the combo comes with a slice of garlic bread and your choice of two sides. I decided to order the half chicken and 3 pork rib combo as well as a pulled pork sandwich and a side a french fries. In total my order came out at around 18 $! Wait times can be pretty long so I’d advise calling in your order. The food was very filling and quite good. The pulled pork sandwich was enormous, considering that it cost under 6 $. It also had a nice kick to it. I’d definitely come back here just for the sandwich. The pork ribs and the chicken were also delicious. The chicken was moist, even though it looked a tad dry, and the pork ribs were fairly good, although I’m not much of a pork rib guy; again I was deeply disappointed about the beef ribs. The sides were competent. The coleslaw added a nice crunch to the meal and the baked beans were sweet and tangy. The fries were sub-par, a little soggy and lacking that fried crunch I was craving for. Overall the Hole in the Wall Deli is an awesome little joint that offers mind-numblingly cheap food, without the dip in quality. Although the bbq isn’t quite finger licking good, it’s still a great alternative. I’d highly recommend this joint to anyone whose looking for a satisfying delicious meal. To happy eatings! :D

Pros: Great food. Quick service. Cons: It doesn’t appear all that clean, but never gotten sick and food is fresh.

I have been driving by this place all my life(and that’s quite a few years!). I walked in for the first time two days ago. First off, the smell of the BBQ cooking in the pit outside is intoxicating! Then you walk in and for the most part, it’s your typical liquor store /mini mart, but with a deli in the back. I unfortunately came through during lunch time and it was very busy! Many construction workers were picking up lunch. But, it was all good in the end. I got a bbq beef sandwich and hot wings. The BBQ beef was ok. Not as tender as I hoped for and it needed more sauce. The wings were fried then dipped in hot sauce. The taste was alright. I liked the fact that the store had a large variety of chips and drinks. I will return(not during lunch hour) and try something different.

I try to reserve five star reviews for the places that absolutely blow my mind, but the consistent quality(especially under such dubious environs) makes this one impossible to resist. The service is great, the BBQ is delicious, and the prices are amazing. One caveat: I’d stay away from the«deli» menu. If you want a torpedo there are far better options. But if you find a better spot in Torrance for cheap, fast, delicious barbecue, this place is hard to beat.

This place is literally a whole in the wall. Fast service good food for a very reasonable price 9.99 for half chicken, two pork ribs, Texas toast and two sides can’t beat that plus portions are more than enough for 2 people. …bomb.com

It’s a local BBQ/D3li in the back of a liquor store. Nothing is really amazing but the prices are very good. Their ribs are real moist but the trip tip is typically dry. Not a bad place for lunch but no place to really sit and eat. More of a take out place.

Best BBQ& Price I’ve had in a long time. Normally on my way to work, i would smell the BBQ cooking in the morning. I decided to stop by for lunch, and bought the plate which contained 2 Pork ribs, Half chick, Beans & Macaroni Salad. All for the low cost of $ 9.99. What a Bargain!!! I’m very picky with Ribs, and they have an excellent sauce! Also, you won’t be able to eat the whole plate. I had lunch and so much left over for dinner. I definitely recommended!!!

Omg so AMAZING! Stopped at this(literally, hole in the wall place) & we were so glad we stayed. Looks a little sketch but it’s totally worth it! The guy at the counter was nice & let us try a sample of the macaroni salad & the potato salad cause I couldn’t decide & both were really good. I got the #5, 2 pork ribs w/corn & mac salad. My hubby got the same but baked beans & the potato salad. Definitely recommend this place

Hole in the wall Deli popped up when I was searching for sandwich places around Torrance and was intrigued by the whole deli that served seemingly good barbeque from the back of a liquor store thing. It was right next to Circus pizza so I knew the location and faintly remembered seeing a barbeque grill\smoker outside the adjoining wine shop but had never really paid attention to it. I went on Sunday around one and the entire liquor store was empty so when I walked back to the deli the person behind the counter immediately sprung to help me. I asked for a menu and decided to go with the three beef ribs combo($ 8.99) that comes with two side and a slice of toasted bread. I went with the macaroni salad and beans as my sides. The protocol here is that you will get a ticket from the deli which you pay up at the counter and then go back to pick up your order. The barbeque itself was excellent. In other places around LA where I’ve had barbeque beef ribs I’ve often wondered if the owners got healthy cows and then starved them to death to save on processing costs as the ribs seem to have come off some very undernourished cattle. Here the ribs are off some healthy cows so they are nice and plump with a lot of meat on the bone. Taste wise I’ve had better barbeque in the heartland but outside of it, this stood out with the meat being nice and tender with a slight smokey flavor. The sides were also good. The macaroni salad was a little on the salty side but it had a great taste and the beans did not seem to have come right out of a box. The serving sizes are also healthy. Lastly the slice of bread was perfectly toasted and nicely buttered. Any place that takes so much pain on just the bread and sides needs to be commended in itself but when combined with the quality of the meat they need to be lauded. My only advise would be to get the half chicken and two beef ribs combo for a dollar more as three beef ribs becomes too beefy which is what I plan to get the next time.

WHODOESN’T LOVERIBS?! Especially for the price you are paying for, it’s pretty darn gooood! Boyfriend bookmarked this place and hey, why not try it. So we went, and didn’t expect that this place is located inside a liquor store. It’s pretty much a go-to spot for a quick service of bbq and sandwiches. There’s also a little patio outside with two tables consisting of four chairs. I ordered 2 pork ribs with macaroni salad and baked beans.($ 6.99) Boyfriend got 3 beef ribs with macaroni salad and corn.($ 7.99) Ribs are good for the price you pay for. It was so meaty, and cooked perfectly! Not too much bbq sauce, it was yummy! I seemed to like the beef ribs more, only because it’s meatier haha. I’m picky when it comes to mac salad, I only like the L&L mac salad, but Hole in the Wall salad is tasty! Best I’ve ever had so far… Baked beans was pretty sweet, it was good though. Both meal comes with garlic bread, which I somewhat like too. It’s a pretty much straightforward food – simple, yet delicious! C’mon, everything was homemade, too. For the price you’re paying for, you can expect much from this little joint!(maybe it’s a hit or miss for others, but our first experience was pretty much impressive) So, when you’re in this liquor store at Torrance Blvd and Western Ave and getting a lottery ticket, also stop by and try their smoked pit bbq ribs! Give it a try, it will not disappoint you! :D Will soon coming back here for their BBQ beef sandy and other offers. *Also serve breakfast meals(’til 10am), hotdogs, and other Mexican plates. Yum yum yum

Holy Delicious Ribs Batman! Such great ribs!!! I have been craving ribs after watching episode after episode of House of Cards(and the senator’s affinity for ribs from a hole in the wall-like place). I remembered this spot my husband had brought me delicious ribs, and boy was I glad we returned. For $ 7.99 you get two ribs(pork or beef) and two sides(we got baked beans and macaroni salad, and a buttery slice of toasted bread. I was more than full and everything was delicious! Warning: this place is as the names suggests: a hole in the wall. I love how it is a liqour store that looks like it belongs in the middle of nowhere with random things on the old rusted shelves. The deli is in the back and where you will get your delicious ribs. Please try it, you will not be disappointed for some good ribs… maybe not the best in the world but for the price pretty satisfying!!! Uppity picky people need not come!

I happened to be in the area on Thursday(08-29-2013) looking for a place to play a set of lottery numbers I had stuck in my head. As I was driving around the area I observed a Liquor Store /Deli on the corner of S. Western Ave & Torrance Blvd called ‘Hole in the wall Deli,’ I figured I had to stop in, so I did. As I exited my car I observed mesquite wood chips stacked waist high next to a huge 55 gallon drum type barbeque in the parking lot. The barbeque sauce was caked onto to this grill; you could tell it has been around awhile. The smell in the parking lot was simply intoxicating. I walked inside and met with the cashier named ‘Terry’ who ended up being the owner of this establishment. I asked ‘Terry’ if the BBQ was good here, Terry told me ‘It keeps me alive.’ Terry told me how everything served is homemade and nothing comes out of a can including the baked beans, potato salad & macaroni salad. Terry explained to me how all of the recipes used at the ‘Hole in the Wall’ are recipes passed down from generation to generation within in his family. The recipes date back to Terry’s great-grandfather who was a railroad man and cooked BBQ. As for the Liquor store itself I was able to play the lottery with no hassles. The store sells all of your basic liquor store needs(i.e. Beer, wine, hard alcohol) and any of your basic shopping needs(i.e. toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, canned food). Before I exited the store I picked up a ‘to go’ menu. When I arrived back home I told my friend about the place I had just visited. My friend who is a fan of BBQ said ‘let’s go back,’ so that is exactly what we did. We got right back into my car and drove back to this location. My friend ordered a mix plate which included ½ a chicken, pork ribs, beef ribs, macaroni salad, baked beans and a side of sourdough bread /toast. I ordered baked beans and a coconut water=) My friend and I decided to eat at the counter space provided inside of this location, quite an interesting place to eat and people watch. I am not a huge fan of BBQ or the way it tastes but the baked beans were good. My friend seemed to enjoy the food. She only ate a small portion of the food; we ended up taking the rest to go. My friend ended up having leftovers for a couple of days. My friends order was the most expensive thing on the menu topping out at $ 10.99 and it could easily feed someone for a week. The staff at the ‘Hole in the Wall’ start cooking their food at 7:30am and ready to serve anything and everything on the menu by 10:30am, which means they are usually sold out long before the closing time around 6:00pm. As my friend and I were waiting for our food several customer came in and attempted to order all sorts of stuff and a majority of the items they requested were ‘sold out,’ which usually means this location is pretty dang good. If someone I knew was requesting BBQ I would probably suggest them trying out this location. If you work in the area the ‘Hole in the Wall’ delivers within 1 mile radius of their establishment.

BBQ sandwich? This is a unknown surprise. The location is truly a hole in the wall! Nestled in a liquor store. The parking is limited and usually you have idiots hanging out in front with no place to go. They specialize in BBQ sandwiches and when you drive by you can often see the BBQ drums smoking. I liked their BBQ sauce, a bit tangy and sweet. The price is affordable but be aware with your surroundings, your in a gang T-Flats zone. If you happen to be a gangster check to see if T-Flats is your rival. No sense in getting killed over a BBQ sandwich!
