Great lunch spot. My daughter and I come here all the time. Salad bar is excellent perk to the lunch experience. Service is very attentive too! Highly recommend.

Who knew such a hip restaurant would be hidden within the Miyako Hybrid Hotel. Ise-Shima has the fancy, upscale dishes as well as more affordable dishes to order; so if you’re looking for a place with a nice ambiance without having to pay for it with an arm and a leg, Ise-Shima is perfecto. The service is great! They make sure you’re happy and are attentive to your needs. Shout out to Daniel, Philip, and Matthew. They were wonderful and were quick to provide really great recommendations to make sure I had a good eating experience. You also get complimentary green tea. That counts for another gold star in my book. Now, onto the food. I’m not sure which dishes I’ve ordered, but I will try my best to recall: Drank: 1.) Iichicko: Fiancé ordered this Sho-chu. I’m not sake fan at all, but he really loved this drink. he savored every sip of it and he told me the mixing of the iichicko with the water from the ice was delicious. Appetizer 1.) Garlic Edamame: YOUMUSTHAVETHIS! It is so damn good. Forget the salty or bland mediocre edamame you get at the other place. This is perfectly savory and the garlic flavor really sends it over the top. I promise you that you won’t be disappointed with this one. 2.) Jidori Karaage: I don’t even like fried chicken, but my fiancé does. He had a bite, his eyes widened, and he told me that I HAD to try it. I was reluctant. I mean, fried chicken is fried chicken. I was wrong. The outside is perfectly breaded and crispy. The inside is so tender, so juicy, so flavorful. I’d say that this is another must try for an appetizer. 3.) We got steamed calamari(I can’t recall the name). I’m not a huge octopus/squid person, so this wasn’t my favorite dish. However, I do know that this was cooked perfectly. It was not rubbery or tough. It was very tender and had a very subtle flavor. 4.) Wagyu Tobanyaki: I love meat! I love tasty meat! I love this. This is presented on a small grill top on a plate with meat, butter, and vegetables. The meat is so tender and delicious. It comes with some spring squash, enoki mushrooms, some cute mushrooms(can’t recall the type), onion, and eggplant. It’s a very simple dish that gets the salivary glands going. Entrée 1.) Toro Nigiri: I have a confession to make. I mean, I don’t like raw fish(i know, i know. what the hell am I doing in a sushi restaurant then, right? I’m a good fiancée and my fiancé likes sashimi). I have had Toro before. I know how magical it is supposed to be, but I had never experienced the magic of having this fatty piece of tuna«melt like butter in my mouth.» I always thought people were over-exaggerating their psychotic beliefs about raw fish, but NO. I was dead wrong. I put the Toro into my mouth because I thought, it’s expensive. I expected myself to shudder like I always do when I eat raw fish. Oh my goodness, this was so good. It did not have the overwhelming fishy taste that makes me gag. Not only that, it DID freaking melt in my mouth. Amazing. Absolutely Amazing. 2.) Ise-Shima Chirashi: My fiancé ordered this. He savored every piece of fish that came with it. He thought it was very delicious. I can’t speak to much about this since I didn’t have much of it. I can say, however, that my fiancé really enjoyed this dish. Dessert 1.) Vanilla Mousse Cake: This looks like one of those cute cheesecakes you can get at a little french bakery, but don’t be fulled. The mousse is so ridiculously light. It’s like a cloud and it’s not overwhelmingly sweet. There is a fruit sauce filling. It was an amazing dessert. I’d highly recommend it. 2.) Sesame pudding: I love sesame flavored desserts. This was no exception. I loved it. The sesame flavor is there. The sweetness is there without being overwhelming. Yum! The food at Ise-shima on top of the beautiful ambiance and fantastic service makes Ise-Shima a great restaurant to go to. I feel like because it is hidden within a hotel, it is highly overlooked. You are missing out. The next time you’re wondering where you should go for to get a bite, go to Ise-Shima. PS they have happy hour! How can you say no to happy hour? Don’t be stupid.

I’ve now dined here twice in two different settings and both times were excellent. I’m definitely looking forward to coming back for the Japanese and American breakfast buffet. The first time, I ordered a tonkatsu lunch. The pork cutlet itself was juicy, quite unlike the dry cutlets that you often find. The salad bar had quite a bit of variety, and the endless miso soup was nice. My dad and I split a yellowtail collar that was absolutely full of meat. For dessert, the green tea tiramisu was definitely a treat! For the second meal, I had a bento box lunch. This contained sashimi(maguro and hamachi), tempura, sunomono(with scallops and octopus), grilled salmon, and nabemono. Everything was absolutely delicious. In particular, the cuts of the fish for the sashimi were particularly notable, as were the unoily tempura and the juicy salmon. Although I often do not care about presentation, I have to say that Ise-Shima nails it. Both meals came exquisitely plated. They were a delight to look at, almost so much so that you didn’t want to eat them because they looked so nice. This is just another example of how Ise-Shima focuses on detail.

If you are looking for great service, delicious food, and a nice atmosphere, Ise-Shima is the place for you! I’ve dined here twice now and each time I’ve had a wonderful experience. Let me start off by talking about the food. The Garlic Edamame is delicious. For all you garlic lovers, this is a great start to your meal. The Ise-Shima Chirashi and Rainbow Roll had a variety of sashimi that were all fresh and melted in my mouth. The desserts were absolutely delicious as well. Our server, Kelly, was very courteous and brought us everything we needed. Daniel, the manager, made sure that we were taken well care of. I saw that he was busy serving a large group by the bar but he still made his way around the restaurant a couple times making sure every customer was well taken care of. You don’t get service as great as this just anywhere! I will definitely be coming back. :)

The restaurant is gorgeous, the staff was so attentive and amazing. I came in for lunch and got sat immediately which was great, and my servers name was Krystal and she was just the sweetest and very attentive even though the restaurant was completely full. They have a full salad bar 7 days a week for lunch which comes included with your entrée. The restaurant has a great patio amazing for gatherings and small parties. I am definitely having my small birthday celebration with my friends here. This restaurant is a must try!!!

I sat at the bar during happy hour, always felt welcome by Aki and Lucas. They provided great service and made awesome drinks. We ordered off the happy hour menu and was not disappointed with the California rolls, gyoza and salt edamame. You can’t beat the price! Also, they have a full bar!

Greatest unsung HH in South Bay! Let’s start with easy parking, large comfortable bar, knowledgable bartenders and fantastic food. Idea-Shima is located in the Miyako Hotel and offers a full restaurant and bar. The food is exquisite. Happy Hour menu is always changing with kool new twists and premium sushi. We’ve tried just about everything and never disappointed! Bonus!!! They just started serving one of Torrance’s best micro-breweries ‘The Dude’s’. Lebowski would be proud!!!

I have been wanting to try this Japanese restaurant and bar at Miyako Hybrid hotel for a while, had a late dinner here on a Friday night, the experience was very pleasant. Our booth seating was very comfy and spacious, started off with S. Pellegrino and our favorite Kikusui cold sake in 300ml. Menu is huge and extensive, even burgers and sandwiches, lots of small plates, entrée choices are awesome too. We weren’t so hungry, so we went for apps and sashimi mostly. The very good: Salmon skin salad: oven baked salmon skin was heavenly delicious! Not salty or greasy like usual fried salmon skin. Loved this salad! Spanish mackerel sashimi: very fresh and tender, not even a little bit fishy taste even though I wasn’t drinking at all. Soba noodle in hot bonito soup with mushrooms: another healthy choice by hubby! He loved the mushrooms, the fish based broth was flavorful and comforting. The good: Sake clams: broth was very tasty, clams were good sized and fresh. Uni and red snapper sushi, halibut sashimi: the raw was fresh, cuts were generous. Seaweed and cucumber salad: very refreshing and yummy. Spicy tuna hand roll: generous amount of spicy tuna was light with enough flavors. The OK: Marinated jellyfish: flavors were good, just too much ponzu sauce in there. Albacore tataki: fairly fresh, a bit dry and bland to my liking, could’v used a bit ponzu sauce for flavors. Overall we liked our food a lot, service was friendly and attentive. It just they didn’t have hamachi for the night, no idea why? The full bar opens till midnight, nice little bar with a cozy fireplace, nice spot to hang out for hotel guests and locals. We will definitely come back soon! Ps. The sake prices are great for a hotel restaurant, definitely order some nice bigger bottles!

Came here for their New Years japanese buffet and it was definitely not worth the $ 45/person. The roast beef and ham were disappointing and seemed low quality. Sushi was served at room temperature which was a little off-putting. The gyoza and some rolls were good, but there wasn’t any dish that wowed me. Selection was limited as well, take your money elsewhere if you’re considering the buffet!

This place replaced Gonpachi, but honestly you wouldn’t know the difference. It looks the same and the menu is the same. Although, my mom said their sushi/sashimi is MUCH better than it used to be. I’ll take her word for it since she’s an OG fob and knows more about that stuff than I’ll ever know. The other non-sushi food is good, too. The pork cutlet was bomb as was the salmon. Tempura was decent, too. Oh, and the all-you-can-eat salad bar. LOVE that. You can indulge your gluttony without worrying about dying of heart disease. Although, one thing that sucks now about the salad bar is they got rid of the potato salad. Wtf, yo? Why you gotta be all Oliver Twist with that delicious white goo? I miss being able to schlop as much of it as I wanted onto my plate.

5 stars all the way! What a beautiful restaurant! I love the ambiance and the romantic vibe that this place exudes. They have a fireplace where you can grab a few cocktails before dinner. Perfect place for a date. I didn’t know such a place like this existed in Torrance! I came here a couple of weeks ago for dinner with a date. The restaurant was pretty busy on this Thursday night. The bar area seemed to be fully occupied. Philip was our server, and he was fantastic! He was very friendly and did a great job of explaining all the questions that we bombarded him with. His recommendations were on point for the teriyaki salmon and the Ise-Shima chirashi. The salmon was so juicy and tender, and the sashimi in the chirashi was some of the freshest fish I have ever tasted! We also tried the asari sakamushi and and karaage for appetizers. The asari sakamushi tasted a little bland, and the karaage was a bit too salty. Besides that, the food was excellent! My date and I also shared the pumpkin zenzai for dessert, and it was so delicious. I was also impressed with their cocktails. My date had the«tea room,» while I enjoyed their pear martini. Props to the bartender! I believe her name was Aki. When our drinks were about to be finished, manager Daniel came by and asked us if we would like another round. However, we were in the mood for a red wine, and he recommended the«En Route» Pinot Noir. It was amazing, and it paired perfectly with our food. Thank you, Daniel! You can tell that he truly cares about the customer’s experience, making sure that our drinks are never empty. I was thoroughly impressed by the level of service and care that was given to us by the entire staff. This night was one of the best dining experiences that I’ve ever had! I will definitely be coming back.

This place is pretty cool. But the food here isn’t all that. I got the chicken cutlet and I swear, this is just overpriced L&L Hawaiian BBQ. It tasted exactly the same. I really liked the décor and everything but the food wasn’t as amazing quality as I expected it to be. The bathrooms were nice. I was really excited to see green tea tempura ice cream on the menu, but when we were served it was highly disappointed because they made everything so fancy and complicated. It looked like a sushi roll because it was wrapped around a chocolate cake and it was just too much for me to enjoy.

Hmmm… I’m gonna say 3.5 stars. This is the onsite restaurant of the Miyako Hybrid Hotel. It used to be called 権八(Gonpachi) but for whatever reason, the name is changed. The interior, and the menu seems to be the same however. The food quality is excellent. Just to change things up, I tried the Wagyu Burger. Delicious. I had a tuna appetizer as well which was also very good. I think the atmosphere could be much livelier, as this is the only part of the hotel that doesn’t feel Japanese to me. My server had a bit of trouble sorting out the free Edamame that you get with the Unilocal check-in. Other than that, the food came out very quickly. Overall, I still felt that it wasn’t a very good value for my money and I only tried it out to see what the difference was between now and before. If you’re too lazy to venture out, then have a meal here. Otherwise, there are a lot of other good Japanese restaurants in the general vicinity as well.

So incredibly happy to have found this(lunch) spot! The quality of fish here is amazing, and their sushi lunches are a reasonable deal(considering how it’s a hotel restaurant, and sushi). The flavors are rich, the fish is fresh, and they will even include a serving of fatty tuna nigiri! Admittedly the fatty tuna was not the richest-melt-in-your-mouth fatty tuna I’ve ever had, but it was still delicious(and did not cost an arm and a leg). I think prices go up for dinner without much difference(if any) in the food, so definitely stick to lunch for this place.

I’m a bit torn as I write this review. Restaurant is located inside the Miyako Hybrid Hotel, right past the front desk. My dinner companion and I were greeted promptly on a Wednesday night with options of a booth or a open table, we opted for a booth. The waiter provided great service throughout our meal. Free edamame with a Unilocal check in, but reception with all carriers is difficult. However, there’s free wi-fi with no password needed. We ordered a sashimi dinner combo and a tempura dinner combo. Sashimi pieces were as expected, fresh enough and no food poisoning later. I felt the tempura were quite oily and the batter was too thick. I actually pulled off the batter. However, I enjoyed the variety of different tempura veggies, my favorite being the okra. The atmosphere of Ise-Shima really makes for a great date place, no loud music, spacious dining area = private/intimate conversations, and nice décor. Service was great, overall A-Ok! I just felt that the food and its quality were over priced compared to the competitors in the area, but perhaps we were paying for the atmosphere.

Summary: an underrated cool bar and food restaurant . Let’s be honest, it is not easy to find a hip and hop restaurant in South Bay. I go this area a lot so I know. It is very hard to find a cool spot for date, meeting, or just hang-out with your friends. If you know this please before, it was Gonpachi. It was just not great. So if you think Ise-Shima is just quick make over of Gonpachi, YOUAREWRONG. This place turned over 180 degree. It has a brand new head chef who run multiple top rated restaurants. Their new menu improved A LOT!!! Food: My favorite is Wagyu steak cuts. This tastes great! You have to try this!!! It offers a great value too. I also love Negitoro(mixture of Tuna and green onions) roll. It is also my favorite. It is simple dish but you can taste it is great! I highly recommend you to try these two dishes. Atmosphere: if you have been here when it was Gonpachi, there is not much difference here. But, the décor and interior design is still awesome. It is modern, hip and cool. You can tell that they invested a lot of money to make this establishment. Parking: Miyako Hybrid Hotel has a large parking lot and street parking. You won’t have any problem with parking. Tips: if you are driving a hybrid car, you can park eco preferred parking spots by the valet. Price: Ise-shima is located inside of Miyako Hybrid Hotel, so the price doesn’t belong to the cheap side, but comparing the quality of food, atmosphere and interior décor, Ise-Shima offers a good value for you. Tip: they also have a full bar, you can just hit it for the bar and try some drink and check out the place. Then you can think about who you want to bring with you. I would recommend this place to check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

This place used to be Gonpachi and reopened as Ise Shima. In my opinion, I see no difference at all since they’ve reopened. Same décor and same boring menu. Located in the Miyako Hybrid Hotel, this place is really great for business lunches or dinners. Outside of that, I would probably choose a different Japanese restaurant to go to that had better tasting food. I’ve been here numerous times and have tried the sushi and their curry chicken katsu, both of which are nothing to brag about. Very basic flavors with nothing really setting them apart from the numerous Japanese restaurants surrounding them in this area. Their salad bar is also very basic. I’ve seen more options at a Sizzler salad bar… just sayin. The atmosphere and the service have always been great. Now it’s time to work on the flavor of the food. Go get yo business meeting on and rule the world! Cheers!
