Hits the spot, every single time. Never disappointed. I usually get the vegetable dumpling tofu soup, extra spicy(which to me isn’t spicy at all) and share either the short ribs or bulgogi. It could be 1000 degrees outside and I will still eat up all my soup — I can’t get enough of it. Yuuuum.

Impressed. Service was great. Very attentive. Barely had to lift my hands to get some attention. I only enjoy BCD but this was almost equivalent. I’ll definitely be back for lunch

Gasp I never left a review yet on Cho Dang?! Their soon dobu is delicious. I get the beef, medium spicy. They have beef, seafood, combo with the foremention, bean paste. It’s tasty and even more flavorful than BCDs. I like BCDs but this had more flavor in yo’ ear(song reference). $ 10 Get some kalbi($ 20) and eat it with some stone pot rice and yummy banchan(bean sprouts, kimchee, kimchee cucumbers, seaweed, nori). You may have to wait a little during peak times but people eat here fast and you won’t have to wait long unless you are a large party then you will have to wait patiently watching people get their stone pot and munching on their nice hot bowl of soon dobu. Over the years the price has gone up… But worth ever bite.

We were initially heading over to BCD Tofu House with a strong craving for soondubu. Then we came across Cho Dang Tofu on Unilocal and decided to give it a shot. Glad we did! The banchans were excellent, especially the kimchi, and they serve them repeatedly. We ordered three bowls of soondubu — one mild, one spicy, and one EXTRA spicy — and all were deeply flavorful and delicious. Rice was equally good, and although we normally don’t request it, we had the hot tea poured into the pots because we wanted to enjoy the burnt parts as well. We also had a large plate of noodle salad, which was refreshing and satisfying as well. The restaurant is not that spacious, quite crammed in fact, and there was a queue when we walked in. People continued to walk in while we were there, and it was close to 2pm. The service was fast, efficient, and welcoming despite the craziness. We will go back for sure. The bibimbop looked too good to forget. Looks like BCD Tofu has to step it up a little.

LA never disappoints for Korean food in general(esp in K –town) but if you dont live near there and dont want to drive, Cho Dang in Torrance is pretty awesome for tofu stew aka Soon tofu. I believe it’s pretty difficult to screw up tofu stew, but many establishments can screw up the bonchon. Therefore, I have become pickier about Korean tofu houses based on the bonchon, as I honestly have not had bad soon tofu when dining in LA all these years. The bonchon at Cho Dang is plentiful, and delicious. Perfectly textured and tasting kimchee, cucumbers, and seaweed. They serve all my favorites and the dried seasoned korean seaweed(such a simple item that can be purchased at any Asian store) is absolutely divine with the hot rice in the stone pot. The stew itself was very good, bubbling to perfection and cooked my raw egg all the way through. I did the mushroom, which is my standard order, and my sister got the dumpling(new to me, I dont see this all the time at various korean tofu houses). Both were flavored perfectly. I cannot rave enough! At $ 9 a bowl, that is standard and good pricing to me as well. I will def be back!

The food at Cho Dang Tofu is simply excellent. I am completely in love with Korean Soondubu(tofu stew). The broth is thick and rich, and not too watery like some other places that I’ve tried. I love ordering their Seafood combination along with their kalbi beef because they go deliciously hand-in-hand together. Their bibimbap is great too and there is a generous variety of side dishes that are offered as a complement to your meal. The prices are very affordable during lunch and the waitresses provide decent service(even though it seems they are understaffed and a bit neglectful at times). The décor feels a bit«hole in the wall rustic», but otherwise, pretty clean and the atmosphere can get a little hectic depending on what time of the day you arrive. Definitely recommended if you are in the mood for some good Soondubu!

Soondubu is the perfect comfort food when it’s cold. Cho Dang’s menu is simple, but that’s how you also know that their food is good. I’m pretty obsessed with their banchan. Especially the cucumber kimchi! Me and my boyfriend alone had like 4 refills on that… the women who served us probably thought we were crazy haha. Past two times I’ve come here I ordered the vegetable dumpling soondubu and my boyfriend gets the seafood soondubu. I get 3 big dumplings in mine which is more than enough for me. You also get a stone pot rice. Too bad they don’t have brown rice… that’s the only downside about this place for me. If you’re in the south bay and you’re looking for some amazing soondubu, def check out cho dang!

Highly recommended by my yf Michelle P, Cho Dang Tofu is on Hawthorne, just south of Sepulveda in Torrance. As the name indicates, they special in soondubu. I ordered the combo w/beef, clams & shrimp($ 9.95). In addition, to the foregoing you receive 5 different types of ban chan, and a salad. There are about 9 different soondubu choices on the menu, grilled meat, and bibimbap.
