I attended a Christmas party with 25 other people. My previous experience in June was excellent. The food and service back then was impeccable! However my latest experience at this venue left a lot to be desired. Our lobster/shrimp bisque soup came out cold. Our entrée was fair, but the side portions were minimal. When it came time for dessert we were informed by the manager they didn’t have enough to feed 25 people. Let alone we did not have coffee or tea. This in my estimation was totally unacceptable as these reservations were made 7 months in advance. I had also confirmed this reservation a few weeks prior to the actual date. This restaurant is rated 5 stars, but had definitely gone down to 1 star.

The food was good and tasty. We had the hot appetizer, salad and entrée. There was also live music. The server did give us time to eat and digest before moving onto the next portion of the meal. Expect to be here for 2 – 3 hours when you come because they do not rush you. There was also live music being played. If you get dinner here it is also BYOB.

I went there with a group of 15 people and the service and food was excellent! They had a house band that was great too! I would definitely come back!

Service and food are always great. BYOB always the best. The gnocchi is always a great option. Specials are always good as well.

With all the wonderful talk from my in laws about this place. I really thought it was going to be a lot better. Portions were on the smaller side. I got veal Parmigiana which was good. A little pricey for portion. Wasn’t crazy about the side pasta it came with and my husband really liked his pork chop. Staff kinda forgot about us and had to go find them to pay bill. Also asked for oil instead of butter and they never came back to table.

Every time we come here, the food is awesome. The service is great and so is the atmosphere. I’ve been here too many times to tell you what is good because I’ve had many different things that are awesome! My favorite is when I get chicken francaise over risotto. Very yummy! Also, their garlic butter that comes with the read is very good!

The green salad was the best of the meal. The rest was microwaved and expensive.

My husband and I ate here the day after Valentine’s Day. We both ordered off of the special Valentine’s menu. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very impressed with my meal. I ordered the Lobster Bisque which was okay but very runny. For my main course I ordered the 16oz. Cowboy Steak. This was just okay as well. Not much flavor and it was a little on the dry side considering that I ordered it medium. My husband loved the Strawberry Crostini appetizer. His main course was a scallop pasta which wasn’t great. The absolute best part about our meal was our server. I believe his name was Will. He was very friendly and attentive. He forgot to give us bread when we sat down. When we asked for some he was so apologetic that we could actually see how upset about it he was. It was very endearing and he definitely made up for it. I’m pregnant and wanted dessert, however, my husband did not want to share one. Our server secretly put a piece of chocolate cake in with my to-go bag, I think to make up for the forgotten bread. If it wasn’t for our server I would never think about going back to this restaurant again but I may give it another shot since the experience was so pleasant.

Ate here the day before Valentine’s Day. Although this restaurant was rated highly I was very disappointed at my meal. When eating the lobster bisque from the Valentine’s Day menu it tasted as if it had been watered down. I would expect a thick creamy soup and what I had received was a lobster smoothly with water. The worst part of my experience was the Cowboy steak also from the Valentine’s Day special. I had ask for medium rare and I got a rare steak with seasoning. It had absolutely no flavor. I bet eating a cow would have tasted better, thank god they gave me some sauce to help me eat that piece of cardboard. The best part of my dining was our waitress she was very responsive and always sweet and smiling. Overall not very happy. Probably will not come again. Giving this place one star is being generous.

Came here in December, my husband had the short rib and I had the chicken Parmesan. It started off good, but the short rib was super fatty and after a few bites was just too much… My chicken Parmesan was okay, pretty good but felt that it was salty. It’s an okay place, and much better than the other Italian place up the street, but still not the best… Loved their butter that came with the bread.

Great homemade Italian food! Perfect place for families to go on a casual night out or a special occasion! The staff, server William in particular was so great and attentive to our every need and made the experience that much more enjoyable! Everyone needs to take a bit for themselves and realize that this is the perfect place! Great great food for out of town New Yorkers looking for a home cooked Italian cuisine meal!!! Chris Roberts is the new spot in town!

If you write 5 stars you obviously don’t know food. Their«butter» with bread might be the salty mess of an excuse for a starter. Their balsamic calamari is decent. Undercooked and chewy(leftover?) traditional calamari is by far the worse thing I’ve ever had. Waters edge and water street locally are much better and priCe points much more reasonable… You walk into a butcher shop by people who don’t know what they are talking about at times. Don’t be fooled by their employees writing reviews at their own restaurant This place went out of business for a reason. No reason to believe it changed. il G Italian is much better Entrees right now. Braised short rib tastes like it was cooked in water. Bland unseasoned They charge $ 3 for Caesar salad addition btw ridiculous. My girlfriends autumn chicken was decent and the seafood was good at best but not great. Don’t bother much better locations in town

Great ambiance. Perfect place to come for a date, couples, families too. All entrées included a house salad. There was a person playing an electric keyboard piano of instrumental music that added flair. The service was great and the waiter overheard we were traveling home and provided a lemonade to go for my daughter. What a nice touch! Definitely coming back again!

Tonight is the first time we’ve been able to get in and eat at Chris Roberts. It may have been our first time but it won’t be our last! The only thing that would have made our dinner any better was remembering that it’s a BYOB and having a glass of wine would have topped off an already perfect meal. I ordered the pork chop and saying it was the best pork chop I’ve ever eaten is an understatement! It was so tasty and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were good and the broccoli rabe was just delicious. The other meal we ordered was fettuccini Alfredo. Delicious! Salad was good. Appetizers good. Definitely recommend!!!(I only rated it 4 stars because I didn’t know it was a BYOB-the food is 5 star!)

Ate dinner here last night and enjoyed it very much. We walked in without a reservation and were politely seated, win! I recommend making a reservation though because it did become very crowded the longer we sat there. It is attached to a pizzeria, but has a nice, quaint restaurant atmosphere. We started with the tomatoes caprese, which were fresh and delicious. Dinners are served with a garden salad. I had the shrimp parmigiana, it was very good. The shrimp were huge and there were about 5 on the plate. It was served with a side of penne marinara. The sauce was tasty, not overly acidic like some restaurant/pizzerias tend to serve. My bf had the penne vodka with chicken, he said it was delicious. The portions were very generous and, although a bit pricey, I will definitely be back.

First, the staff was extremely attentive which we really appreciated since we had 6 children with us. For appetizers we had figs with goat cheese with a delicious sauce, Tomatoe, mozzarella salad sooo fresh and eggplant meatballs to die for!!! Ordered pasta with shrimp, scallops, mussels and chunks of tilapia in a white wine anchovy sauce over angel hair, scrumptious. Friends ordered NY strip steak was like butter! Also chicken with mozzarella Tomatoe prosciutto over linguini very good. Great NJ place for picky New Yorkers. Will definitely be back! Oh and BYOB.
