Awesome place in Old Town Tomball. My first time here and my wife has raved about it. The atmosphere is everything I’ve desired near home in a cool non-chain coffee/bakery spot. Very small and quaint but very inviting and charming. We’ve been in the area for a year and have looked for places that reflect the local community. Coffee is on point and I look forward to trying there food.

Best breakfast I’ve had in a while! Small, quaint home in the heart of Tomball with great baked goods and breakfast sandwiches. Definitely try the Duffin! We will be back.

Wow, just wow. I’m still trying to figure out how it has taken me this long to review JJD, even though I’ve been coming here for about a year now. Jane & John dough is everything you want in a coffeeshop… and then some. Bare with me as I try to put into words how great this establishment is.(P.S. List form is really the best way to go about this). 1. The Food: The food OHLORD. It’s all so freaking good. Everything is made IN-HOUSE by the staff themselves. Everything from biscuits, delicious pastries, fresh breads, sandwiches, duffins, you name it. It’s here. They have plenty of options to choose from. Lots of pastries, as well as full on breakfast(sandwiches, biscuits, french toast, parfaits, etc). They also have some fantastic lunch sandwiches(the grilled cheese is my favorite) & a daily soup for lunch. They most recently started doing their family dinners at 6PM on weekdays. They do a fantastic meal each night all made in-house. really incredible recipes that I can’t recommend enough. They also have gluten free items as well, for all you people who hate gluten(I love gluten). Things are baked with lots of ‘in-season’ produce. Some of my favorites are their cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, and delicious jammers(a biscuit with jelly in it). 2. Coffee: Coffee is 100⁄100. They serve Stumptown coffee here and have really perfected their art. They sell whole bean Stumptown(which is hard to come by in Houston), as well as use it for their espresso. Their baristas are fantastic and do a great job of making drinks WELL. They also have plenty of other drinks for sale, if you’re not really into coffee. A great tea list, lots of kombucha, orange juice, etc. But really, the coffee is A+. Come get yourself a cortado because you won’t regret it.(Shout out to Andrew James). 3. Service: This is the kind of place where they will know your name, remember your face, and make you feel at home. That is honestly my favorite thing about JJD that I tell every single person I recommend them to — they make you feel special. Every time I walk in, I’m greeted with smiles, hellos, and all kinds of ways for them to connect. They’ve really made a name for themselves in Tomball as being that ‘mom-and-pop’ kind of place that just make you smile. Also I’ve never seen a staff work so efficiently & work SO hard to make incredible food. They work tirelessly to ensure their products are top-notch. Best of all, they do it with smiles on their faces because they TRULY love this place.(Shout out to Jane & John)! 4. The Space: JJD is an old house right off Main St. in downtown Tomball. It’s adorable. Lots of funky décor, some comfy couches, close quarters, cute patio, and lots of benches and picnic tables outside to enjoy the Texas weather. As they’ve grown, their space has definitely become a little cramped. If you come in the morning and especially on a weekend, you may have a hard time finding seating indoors. It can get pretty cramped inside with everyone squeezing in, and often times the line will go out the door. Don’t let that scare you off because it’s all worth it! My favorite time to go is later in the afternoon around 2PM when most people have headed off for their day. You really do miss the crazy morning/brunch/lunch crowd. During those peak moments, it also gets preeeetty hot in there. But that problem can be solved by ordering yourself a delicious iced latte. Again you won’t regret it. I could honestly rave for days about Jane & John Dough, so I’ll just leave you with this… You’re doing yourself an injustice if you don’t come here and bring all of your friends.

Stopped in quickly on a VERY rainy day to pick up some desserts to go. For me to visit a great coffee place and NOT get coffee is a crime you’ll just have to forgive me for until our next visit. Great atmosphere — tiny place, but has that hipster/funky coffeehouse vibe that so many like. Outdoor seating looks inviting on days where we aren’t having a «let’s-start-building-an-ark» deluge. They serve Stumptown coffee, which generally means decent quality and pricey, but, again, I didn’t sample on this visit. We sampled five different desserts. Our two favorites were the chocolate icebox pie and the chocolate espresso cake — both awesome(and I’m not generally a cake person). Banana cream pie was close behind. They have MANY others — all look worth checking out. I imagine this place might get a little claustrophobic during rush times — I’d personally avoid the lunch hour — but otherwise, this is a place we’ll totally return to.

This place was a great find — something I would expect to see in Austin rather than outside of Houston! My mom and I happened to be shopping around Tomball when the torrential downpour started and a lot of the shops closed up. Luckily, Jane and John Dough was working business as usual. We stopped in for some sandwiches, drinks, and desserts. — Regular coffee: Good, but nothing too special. It was a little hard to find the creamer/sweetener — they are on the table in the corner with the water and silverware! — The Jane: Great sandwich that was perfectly sized and tasty. The pesto and bread really made this. — The Maxx C: Very cheesy, just like we like it. The only weird thing was that it tasted almost citrusy? An unusual flavor in a grilled cheese. — Bakery items: I ordered quite a few things, but the cinnamon roll and pretzel kolache were fantastic. I will definitely come back and would like to try dinner sometime.

The restaurant is located in a renovated home and has a very eclectic décor. The pastry case made me want to dive in, one dessert was prettier than the other. The classic BLT’s that we had were delicious and filling. We shared a brown butter sugar cookie for dessert. We will be back!

Overpriced and overrated. Nothing special about our food. My roast beef sandwich was greasy and bread was burnt. The lady behind the register was rude and acted like we were an inconvenience to her. Will never come back to this place.

Very Austinesque! Tomball has needed this for a long time! The food is amazing, fresh and worth the price for the quality. My coworkers and I have now found a new brunch spot! You have the option of sitting outside under the trees or inside a very cute historic downtown Tomball building. Very friendly staff and they even have a wheat free variety!

Very cute shop and friendly, young staff. My almond milk latte was perfect and had beautiful art on top! The Duffin pastry was tasty. I ordered the BLT for lunch, but it was extremely salty. It had bacon and ham, and was served on a salted pretzel bun. I wasn’t a fan of it. Very warm inside the shop, but lots of cute tables outside.

I really just want to eat every meal here with Duffins as my snack in between. Super positive and uplifting environment thanks to the kindest and coolest people who care about their job and do it with pride. Great quality food and I can’t get over the Duffins!!!

I really want to like this place. Its cute, it’s unique, It seems perfect! But… It’s very pricey and the woman working behind the register(whom I can only assume is «Jane») is NOT friendly. I have come twice for lunch trying to determine if I had just caught her at a bad moment the first time. Apparently, she just likes being rude! If she is the one cooking, she should stay in the back and let someone else handle the customers because she’s a jerk!

I’ve been wanting to come here and finally did. Place is too crowded, no where to sit. The cashier had a hard time hearing me placing my order, music was way too loud. Prices are too high and order was incorrect. Strawberry muffin was delicious and that’s probably it. Need better website with menu and also a display when you enter. Not sure if I’ll be back.

I really wanted to like this place. And it may just not be a place for me while others still love it. We went for breakfast and got a variety of items. My husband had French toast which he said was good but took a while to get cooked. He said his cinnamon roll had no cinnamon in it at all. The duffin was okay but nothing I would go back for. The pretzel kolache was horribly salty and the sausage had an odd flavor. It was really too large and tough a piece of sausage to have in a kolache, in my opinion. The corn muffin was good but again, I don’t plan to go back for it. It isn’t really set up for eating in. There are just a few crowded tables. The area by the register is too small for more than two people to get in line for ordering. I thought the kolache was coming with the French toast but it didn’t. I went back to ask for it and probably stood in line 5 – 10 minutes for that. When we went in the owner said she knows her customers so she knew we were new. She ran through what the offer but I felt awfully rushed to order when there was no one else in line. If the register area were set up differently I could have seen what other pastries and desserts they have but it was just too difficult. I wanted to love this place so I could support a local business. And I think others will still love it, but it just wasn’t for us. Especially as a dine in place. And I really wish they had menu information on the website so I could consider going back.

Good size portions and prices reflect made from scratch high quality baked goods. We shared a few items: chocolate chewy cookie, lil dough b’s, and chocolate pudding pie. I love the lil dough b’s, I had one another time. Chewy oatmeal raisin cookies with cream between making a delicious cookie sandwich. Chocolate chewy cookie will cure your chocolate cravings. Divine chocolate flavor without being overly sweet. Chocolate pudding pie with tall meringue dusted with chocolate. My husband has gone on for years how his mums had the best chocolate pie ever and I could never get it as good as hers. Well all I need to do now is buy from here. He said theirs is Better than his mums. Rich, thick and creamy piled high with meringue. The crust tasted like it had sugar sprinkled over it. I know what I am getting for our holiday pie. Can I reserve it now?

Located in a house, it’s quite a charming place. Reminds me of coffee shops in Austin. I go here for their coffee. Stumptown coffee is my absolute favorite! They offer various baked goods, but sell out of their popular items quickly, so get there early. They serve food on cute vintage plates. It would be nice if they had wifi and made it more comfortable. The layout is quite tight. Overall, it’s a gem of a place. Go there for breakfast!

Hard to find… and thank GOD let’s keep it that way. I don’t even want to tell you how amazing this little place is for fear all you people will invade my little secret treasure. So. don’t come here… I mean. Um… it’s terrible… stay away… lol. I know your going to come anyways… it’s amazing. Better than any hipster café in the heart of town. Just… in Tomball…

I was a little worried walking in. I’ve been to so many places that were hyped to the moon and back that I end up being disappointed because they can’t live up to the dreams I get in my head. Well, Jane and Jon Dough didn’t have that problem. The hype is justified! I tried a range of things: the sausage-crowned biscuit, a pretzel kolache, and a «duffin», which is a muffin donut. The biscuit was absolutely perfect. It could not have been done any better. Fluffy on the inside, with a slight buttery crunch on the outer crust. It’s the biscuit you’ve been looking for; the kind everyone’s grandmother seemed to make, but nobody can make today. Well, nobody ELSE that is. The«duffin» is, by the name, intended to be a cross between a donut and muffin. I think there’s some coffee cake in the family tree, too. I could eat one of these every day and never get tired of them. The cake part of the donut has the perfect crumb, not too dense and not too loose, and lightly spiced throughout. The cinnamon sugar coating is thick and sweet, exactly as it should be. It’s heaven on a plate. If you’re one of those«cake is too sweet for me» people, don’t bother. The duffin is for the rest of us. The pretzel kolache(I believe they call it a pretz-a-lache) was the weakest of the three, but keep in mind that’s all relative. The pretzel part was, again, perfect. I’m using that word a lot, but I mean it. I’d definitely recommend buying one of their pretzels. It couldn’t be better. The sausage itself was very nice, too, except that mine was ice cold, unfortunately. For me, I didn’t like the combination as much, though. I ended up pulling the sausage out and eating them separately. Given how good everything else was, I’d love to see Jane and John try their hands at a traditional Czech-style kolache! This is the real deal, and I’m looking forward to many more visits to come. There were some mighty tempting things in that case that I just couldn’t fit on my plate this time.
