Not all Vito’s are created equal; this one kicks butt. Accurate orders, timely delivery. Vito’s has established itself as the go-to specialty pizza restaurant in Toledo with a record of hits(BBQ Chicken Pizza) and misses(Mac n’ Cheese Pizza). Enter the Spudtacular, Vito’s latest creation — abomination, for you purists — featuring garlic mashed potatoes, bacon, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, along with chives and ranch dressing. Not exactly health food, but we were in the mood to splurge. I was surprised to find the Spudtacular surprisingly delicate and light tasting. The mashed potatoes were whipped and had an airy consistency not unlike hummus, and is distributed across the pie in the same proportion one would typically find tomato sauce. I cannot emphasize enough just how garlicky this pizza is, a net positive for me. The chives didn’t add much — I would substitute regular old onion next time. The ranch was used sparingly. It comes served with sour cream. While I wouldn’t order it every time, I think this pizza has staying power. Most Vito’s coupons feature multiple specialty pizzas. Now that I think about it, I could see this pizza replacing our standard addition of Vito’s bread.
