First time here ordered eggs and redskins potatoes with toast without meat. Portion sizes were on the smaller side especially considering the prices($ 6.50 for mine). I won’t be back. To give you a better idea it looks like they resell Costco muffins for $ 2.99 each($ 6.99 for 12 at Costco)

I ate breakfast there for the first time and the food was just beyond great. I just wish the service was at the same level. The hostace was very friendly but when I went to get the check it was like my waitress forgot about me. So assumed they gave out free meals and left.

Rick’s is my favorite place to get breakfast in Toledo. I’ve never been there for anything but breakfast. But what I do know is their breakfasts are amazing. At Rick’s you seriously must try the french toast! Seriously the best! Their tater cakes are also super tasty! And they make a super tasty omelette, if you are trying to be on the healthier side. But moral of this review is Rick’s rocks!

As always the eggs were perfect and the toast was great. Kind of wished they had sourdough toast as most breakfast places do. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. And Rick himself will probably stop by your table and check on you.

Can’t say anything about their lunch menu items, but their breakfasts are amazing! I’m normally not a breakfast person so for me to say that the food must be delicious. The only downside is that for being considered a diner they are a bit on the expensive side. Although the kids menu isn’t priced bad. Also, they give you 1-liter bottles when you order pop so no free refills. Overall it’s a great place, good food and clean inside, however if you’re looking for a classic diner experience(price included) then this place probably isn’t for you.

I had a tasty California melt. We also ordered an Eggs Benedict with real Crab. The Holllandaise sauce was rich and creamy. Pretty good for a Diner. The servings of potatoes were huge. The coffee was good and the service was excellent. Will return here in the future.

1st time there — plan on going back. I won’t say it was outstanding, but it was far better than the average Toledo area franchise places. By the way, why do we have so damn many franchise joints… they all kinda suck? Robert Irvine needs to spend a year here to clean this bitch up and make people eat fresh food. I digress. Rick’s is on the right track.

I went with my former co-workers and I definitely will go back. I had the brisket sandwich without the horseradish and it was the best sandwich ever. The waitress was wonderful! I can’t say enough about how much I liked the place!!!

My husband and I went to Rick’s City Diner after glowing recommendations from friends, and we were not disappointed! The décor is simple(with some whimsical touches) and the space is bright and clean. The service was friendly. I went out on a limb and ordered the Boston Breakfast(normally not a fan of sausage gravy but it sounded good), and it was great! The sausage gravy was flavorful, smooth, and packed with tasty sausage! The potatoes and eggs were also well-cooked. I could have done without the cheese on top, but that’s pretty minor. Plus, the English muffin that came with it was the best I’ve ever had! My husband had the Eggs Benedict Florentine and he enjoyed it. He said the hollandaise sauce was delicious and the eggs were perfectly cooked. I’d love to go back and try more dishes!

I have been here a few times now and love with the green godess grilled cheese. I came for breakfast as well. Corn beef hash was less than average and potato pancakes wernt cooked through. But service is friendly and fast and they always keep my coffee filled!

Since he moved from the Bancroft location,(which has been purchased by UT, and will soon be demolished, along with Maxwell’s and the Omni), I’ve been to Rick’s City Diner two and a half times. BOTTOMLINE: Same great food and same great service. Changes to note: The Sunday buffet draws a HUGE crowd. The half visit I mentioned above, was from when we stopped in on a Sunday, and had to leave because the wait would have been too long… my kids,(love ‘em more than anything else in the world), can be a real pain in the ass when hungry! Weekday mornings? Fast friendly service. If you don’t want to fill up before work, order a half sized omelet, for a buck less. I must have looked tired this AM, because as I was walking out,(without my asking) the waitress handed me an extra cup of coffee in a to-go cup. Now that’s service. The new location is a little out if my way, but I’ll be back.

I added cheddar to my spinach & feta omelette this morning, as I’m of the opinion that feta is not the most structurally sound cheese choice for eggs. I opted to get tomatoes instead of toast & potatoes, and also ordered some bacon. Sitting across from me, my wife ordered a grilled cheese with the addition of avocado. My breakfast was just as enjoyable as all of my previous breakfasts at the Ricks on bancroft. I enjoyed a little more even, as there is a major atmosphere upgrade at the new location on Monroe street. Cars zipping by, well lit with all of the windows, and due to the fact it’s three times the size of it’s previous life, there are so many more people around you also enjoying their breakfasts. I really like the new location. Rick did a great job laying it out and decorating the space. The service was good. There is a notable absence of the«legs & eggs» vibe you had at the Bancroft address, which makes sense. This new location is right on the line of Toledo & Sylvania, and is frankly the only place for a good chunk of Sylvania to get a hot breakfast. Family friendly servers is the only way to go. That being said, the girls on the floor all seemed to be very happy to be there. That’s infectious. Genuinely happy servers make the patrons smile as well. As for the grilled cheese my wife enjoyed? It was huge. Rick gets some beautiful custom bread made for him by the Andersons, and the quality shined. My wife added avocado, which made the sandwich a little unstable, so next time she’ll just stick to tomatoes and cheese. I’ve heard it can get VERY busy on sundays, so we’re going to stick to saturday visits for now. Glad to see this place is so successful. Rick is a great guy and deserves it.

Not my first time here, went a few times when it was On Bancroft. The food is decent and it’s open on Sundays. The service has been alright, but this last time it was awful. Waitress really pushed the buffet saying that if we ordered off the menu it would take forever, so just get the buffet. My one daughter wanted to order off the menu and it seemed to really irritate the waitress. The food came out decently quickly but there was no whipped cream on The French toast which my daughter had asked for. No coffee refills, at all. No water refills, ever. When I mentioned to waitress that my daughter had ordered whipped cream the waitress responded«thank you» and never came back except to bring the bill. At check out I had planned to complain but the woman at the register never uttered one word to me, just held out her hand for my card, ran it and then walked away. I have never in my life left without tipping a waitress, but today I did. I wrote a big huge zero in the tip spot. I’ll not ever go back.

First time here. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Iced tea excellent, however my husband ordered the fish sandwich which was full of bones. Coleslaw was fresh and good. I ordered the Cobb salad, essentially a large bowl of greens, sliced egg and blu cheese. Instead of bacon I asked for avocado which was rock hard. Not a satisfying meal. Bottom of bowl full of water. Since this is a new place they must be working out the wrinkles and with some tweaking here and there, it could be good, but I am not willing to spend above average prices for less than quality food. Atmosphere is nice. And location is great.

This was our first visit, and we ordered breakfast. It wasn’t that great, but the service and the atmosphere were both very good. I ordered an omelet made with cream cheese and scallions. It tasted OK, but I would not order it again. The potatoes that came with it looked like they were from a bag of pre-cut potatoes and tasted like it. The toast was thin and far from crisp. My wife ordered potato pancakes with her omelet. They were deep fried shredded potatoes. She said they tasted worse than McDonald’s hash browns. We’ve tried potato pancakes made at various locations. These were less than average if expecting an actual potato pancake. We will go back to try lunch, but there are far better places in Toledo to eat breakfast.
