Definitely one of the better places to eat in the Toledo Sylvania area. Very nice service and staff. Nice setting, food was very good I just had the burger but it was very very tasty! Don’t doubt this review, you won’t be disappointed

Food is always good. But the prices are off the charts for what you get. This isnt LA or NYC. How do they come up with these peices in Toledo Ohio. 3 stars bc of the prices. 4 stars for food.

First things first, their Mac and cheese is some of the best I’ve ever had. Their veggie burger is delicious, but it does easily fall apart. Some other dishes I’ve had before is their smoked salmon dip, their regular burger, and their fish tacos, all of which were equally tasty. If you’re looking for an upscale restaurant with delicious food, this would fit. During the weekend, there’s the possibility of a 30 – 45 minute wait so prepared for that. I’ve been going here for a couple years and their food has never disappointed.

We had a great dinner here at J Alexander’s today as we got a Christmas gift card. Two of us had the Ahi Tuna Burger and I had the Trout Special. We all also enjoyed the Spinach Queso dip as well. Never a bad meal here!

Me and my Son had the best meal ever. Waitress and manager made sure that our visit to be special. Kristen the Manager was great manager resolving a slight issue with my order. She was determined to make sure it is to my taste. I am speechless. Thanks Kristin. I recommend every one to choose this place over anywhere else.

Very good food. I love their macaroni and cheese and the roasted chicken is amazing. When you walk in the staff is very friendly and you can see the cooks at work. I come here twice a year because it is pricey for a mother of three, but this place beats Mancys any day. Come here and you will leave happy.

We are saying goodbye to this place after many times there. Had dinner there last night. Prices are raised again. $ 12 for martinis — and this was the final nail in the coffin: I ordered a Maker’s Mark on the rocks. I received what looked to be about an ounce in a glass with three ice cubes. You’ll notice the picture. For this I was charged $ 11.50. I complained to the manager. She couldn’t have cared less. «That’s the way we pour high end liquors,» she said. I didn’t ask for 30 year old Macallan. I ordered a fairly common mid-range bourbon. Take a look at that picture again… ELEVENDOLLARSANDFIFTYCENTS.

WONDERFULFOODEVERYSINGLETIME. Great ambiance and they have awesome(and very quick) service! everything from their appetizers to their salads is just great and you can taste the quality of the food. I usually am not a fan of chain restaurants but this one is an exception for me!

The warm carrot cake is all the reason to eat here! A friend and I were dining here for dinner. The intimate ambiance of the restaurant was very calming and quiet. We were greeted and seated immediately. Everything is pristine from the tables to the layout. It is very inviting. Our service here was excellent. Brandi did an outstanding job throughout the evening. She was very attentive and friendly. We started off with the Spinach con Queso. A huge bowl was delivered to the table with a basket of chips. This was wonderful. Very creamy and cheesy. The flavor was great. Of course we didn’t leave any in the dish! For my meal I chose the Country Club with the loaded baked potato. Huge sandwich… huge potato. The sandwich was delicately toasted. It was piled with meat and toppings perfectly. i would definitely order this again. The baked potato was delicious with it’s loaded goodness of cheese, bacon and sour cream. For the cherry on top, my friend convinced me to order their carrot cake. She had eaten one prior and said it was the best she’d ever had. Well, I would have to agree. The huge piece of cake was easily split between us. It was warm and perfect. The cream cheese icing was almost melting all around it. If you come to J Alexanders, I’d start with the carrot cake first. You’ll love it! This restaurant offers quality service and quality food in a great setting. I hope to make it a tradition whenever i’m in town.

I’ve never had a bad meal here. The rattlesnake pasta is delicious and even more so if you add shrimp. The steaks are great. The chicken is juicy and seasoned wonderfully. Great place for a good meal. Drinks are kind of pricey but it is a step up from casual dining so that is to be expected.

The 4 – 5 star reviews for this place is a perfect example of people in Toledo giving rave reviews for anything expensive. J Alexanders at one time was a decent place but has slowly become a ponderous and loathsome behemoth with a pension for pretentious attitude. Overpriced with marginal attention to detail and less toward service, this place is a must skip. Low country style chicken? How about chicken strips. Streaks lean toward marbled, with sinew! Save your cash.

I come here every year for my birthday to eat Swordfish. It may or may not be close to being an endangered species. I’m not sure, but it’s once a year so… lol Anyway, every time I’ve been, it’s always been a great experience. When it’s not my birthday, and I’m coming just for their regular menu, I’m usually pleased. The Israeli couscous is just to die for! My family loves their carrot cake too. Their servers are usually very attractive too. I’m not sure if that’s on purpose or not, but I’ve noticed. One major complaint I have is that sometimes, they over-season their vegetables which is a HUGE no-no. If you don’t mind spending extra money for quality food and service, then this is the place for you. They also have a decent wine selection!

Excellent! Service, hospitality, and food! All excellent! Having been to many steakhouses in the NYC area(lived in northern nj for over 35 years) this ranks right up there! Price was on point. We had the Chicken Pasta Soup which was delicious. My wife order the Ribeye and I had the Filet.:both cooked perfect. Will definitely be back!

I revisited this restaurant yesterday, excited after my previous visit. I would swear it was two different places. I was with a large group on sweetest day but we were seated within an hour which was great. The drink order was taken right away but then after we had discussed which appetizers to order we noticed the other end of our table already being served their appetizers before ours had even been ordered! Ok, so that was odd but we moved on and just skipped ordering them. For dinner I ordered the Cypress Salad and loaded baked potato. The baked potato looked good, but as I dug in I only ate about a quarter of the potato because that was about all the«loaded» toppings covered. There was very little cheese and bacon on it, and mostly just filled in with a gigantic glob of sour cream. Moving onto the cypress salad. The chicken was good, but the salad was literally just a mixed bagged salad you can buy at any grocery store. The menu said it came with bacon, and to their credit in my leftovers today I did find one small bacon piece but that was it. The mixed greens had huge chunks of cabbage and shredded carrots, like I said just store bought quality. The dressing left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn’t even attempt the eat the tomatoes as they looked squishy and watery as soon as the plate was set down, I just put those on my abandoned potato. When I requested a box I was thinking I might enjoy it more with a sweeter dressing I had at home but that didn’t help either. And the lettuce didn’t stay at all in the 8 hours it was in my refrigerator, which just makes me assume I’m correct in my opinion that it was poured from a bag bought at a grocery store. One of the people at our table got the Maui steak. He said he was under the assumption since it was a pineapple marinade it would just have the flavoring of the pineapple. It came out closer to a pineapple soup poured onto his steak, he couldn’t even finish it. When the bills came, they were all messed up. Remember how nobody had taken our appetizer order on my end of the table? That didn’t stop them from charging us for them. When my friend informed the waitress she was over charged $ 13 for an app she didn’t order the waitress just stared at her and said«ok». No apology or anything. My friend had paid in cash so already figured in the tip and everything minus the appetizer she didn’t order and she explained that to the waitress. Our waitress didn’t even take the bill from her to fix it she just left it sitting on the table with the money. And we knew who the appetizer belonged to so she ended up eating that $ 13 when we would’ve been happy to help her out with which bill it belonged on had she not been rude about it. Lastly, my other friend had asked for a certain kind of wine and upon getting the bill saw that they didn’t give her what she wanted, but instead had given her the most expensive wine on the list, which wouldn’t have even been a big deal except with everything else it just added to the overall atmosphere of the dinner. I will think twice about visiting again, which is very disappointing after how excited I was about my first visit.

Been eating here for around 15 years. Average twice month. When we 1st started, food was ALWAYS consistant. However, the last several times we have been, our steaks were dry & tough. But they are always willing to make things right. Just seems to be happening a lot lately. I used to get the rattlesnake pasta which was«PHENOMENAL!», but 1 bite of my wife’s steak maui, I was hooked. Still able to get the city club salad even though it is not on the menu, «My all time favorite salad!», but not a fan of croûton change, «the old ones were the BEST!» Love the fries. Carrot cake is beyond description, «save room & don’t leave without trying a piece!» Service is «ALWAYSAWESOME!» Also if I could recommend, «bring croissants back!» To be honest, due to the inconsistencies lately, Mancy’s has been our go to place. Sorry J’s :-(

I’m not the biggest fan of chain restaurants, though J. Alexander’s is a pretty small one at that. Last night we satisfied my partner’s vague obsession with this place, and it was pretty much as I remembered it: slightly overpriced food served in an environment with less soul than most hotel lobbies. I had the club sandwich. For $ 13.00 it’s not even a double-decker(and therefore not really a club sandwich), although they use good quality meat and cheese. The server recommended the«not your typical» mac and cheese. It was pretty good. My partner got the fish tacos. He was satisfied, but I think I adjusted his expectations going in: the food’s better than average, slightly over priced, but they’re pretty consistent. He thought there was too much coleslaw or something. Meh. His problem. Maybe I should have tried a steak or something, but Shorty’s has been slaying in that department so hardcore it would have been unfair to order it here. Service is killer, unobtrusive, and professional. Strike the word«refill» from your vocabulary as you enter, for your drink will never go empty here. They run a tight ship. Overall, this is the kind of place you might want to consider taking extended family members or large groups, as there truly is something for everyone.

I ask my father-in-law where I can take him for dinner. His answer«I can do steak.» No problem, except I’m visiting from SoCal and don’t know anything about Toledo area Ohio. I look up a couple places and took a chance on J. Alexander’s. We’re dressed causal but go in to be greeted by 3 hostesses in all black dresses and pearls. We felt totally underdressed after looking at the dimmed but elegant space. But– most people were dressed casual as we were. Laura was our waitress and got us started with a couple Porter beers and the Spinach con Queso appetizer which was great. Entrees come with a house or Caesar salad. The salads were big and made me not want to eat it all to save room for my NY Strip. Well that didn’t happen. A simply Caesar but a very tasty one, so I ate it all. My steak was great. My Not Your Ordinary Mac and Cheese side was not. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but the taste was simply not good. Almost had a kind of sweet aspect to it. I had about a quarter of it and left the rest. The service was EXCELLENT. Laura came by a few times and was extremely efficient. More importantly — I think we had about. 5 – 6 different servers who brought us out different things.(Water, salad, appetizers) So I was almost expecting the lack of continuity with the servers to lead to something getting messed up. It didn’t happen. Great job. Very pleased. Would certainly go again.

The food was good, but not orgasmic. My steak was ordered Medium Well and cooked Well. Not too big of a deal. The $ 12 Two-Swallow Martini was a Ripoff; tantamount to a sexual assault on my wallet. I have paid $ 10 for mixed drinks and martinis in Ann Arbor before at several venues and they were MAN Drinks… not sissy. two swallow drinks. Mike P suggested that Angelos Northwood Villa in Erie may be a better bet when it comes to Priime Rib. I say that it would have been a better bet and worth the drive on several levels. I liked my meal here«ok» and my check was $ 87 for two… pre tip. HOWEVER, I have had orgasmic meals at Angelos, more drinks, stronger man drinks, bigger portions, my fav liquor in stock(Yukon Jack), and a general feel good about it… for $ 92 pre tip for two. In conclusion: Many other places to go to for a more satisfying feeling after a $ 100 + post tip dining check. And the $ 12 two swallow Martini is insult enough to keep me away.
