Slightly overrated although the concept in itself is quite inventive. Pretty kids manning the store; however, I don’t need nitrogen to make good ice cream. Wifey was disappointed in the vegan/dairy free offerings. Said she liked the cashew versions at Whole Foods better. Maybe we will try again when it gets warmer.

I do not get or understand all the hate here? Ice Cream Lab is a fun local business with a very cool and innovative concept(Literally and figuratively) in food preparation using Liquid Nitrogen… The Ice Cream is good not great. The concept is great not just good. The caveat for me is the price point which borders on being ridiculous. Overall 3.5 Stars but easily could be 4 Stars… It’s essentially $ 5.50 for a medium cup(scoop) which is a small anywhere else and includes a mix in the flavor profiles are good everything is fresh but were talking about a big number here people for a small scoop… The Nitro or Ice Cream sandwiches are $ 6.50 and are essentially your small scoop inside of(2) freshly made cookies. We went with The Blue Velvet, Salted Caramel Pretzel and Coffee Ice Cream between a couple of chocolate chip cookies. My kids liked it and loved watching it being made. Yet it doesn’t compare to Diddy Riese which is the gold standard for us and also at $ 2 per serving… The location is inviting, bright, clean and modern… The menu and options are easy to navigate, the service is young and eager but super sweet and wanting to please. All in all a really good option in Westlake Village with a really cool concept albeit a really expensive one. It’s not 1 or 2 stars nor is it 5 stars but rather a solid 3.5 to 4 stars when you factor in everything… I really like the concept in the neighborhood. My concern is sustainability at that price point once the fad of the Liquid Nitrogen wears off? Today at 3:30pm after school had let out we were the only one’s there then a couple of kids walked in as we were leaving roughly $ 20 lighter for(3) Ice Cream Sandwiches. Diddy Riese typically a 45min to 1 hour wait anytime day or night with a line around the block at $ 2 per Ice Cream Sandwich with more options and better food sans the Liquid Nitrogen…

I’ve always said that I don’t like going to places that are brand new because they have to iron out the kinks, especially places that are food-driven. That being said, and after reading the many negative reviews here, I’m glad I didn’t go here(or even know about this place) until now. I’m guessing the kinks have been worked out(for the most part) because I didn’t find any of the issues that others experienced… happily. They had a full supply of liquid nitrogen, the behind-the-counter worker was very pleasant, definitely no chlorine smell anywhere to be found, and while there were only 6 – 8 ice cream flavors, there was a decent amount of toppings to choose from. Sure, the whole liquid nitrogen thing is very gimmicky, but it made some delicious ice cream, and I have to tell you, the strawberry ice cream my husband got had 2 huge(and I mean HUGE) ladle-fulls of fresh strawberries, and it was THEMOST delicious strawberry ice cream I’ve ever had. It was amazing. My daughter got mint oreo ice cream with an oreo cookie topping, which was placed in a waffle cup(free of charge due to Unilocal check-in !!). I didn’t taste hers, but it looked great, and she said it was really good. So, to those who had crappy experiences, I’m sure they were quite real, but maybe they’ve cleaned up their act. I don’t know… I just know what our experience was, and I hope it’s how they intend to maintain their operation in the future. Best of luck to them !

I went in the store yesterday and they told me they ran out of liquid nitrogen so they couldn’t make ice cream! Not the best first impression.

So hard to give them a 3 because I LOVE the concept and they’re giving it a good shot… but it just seems impractical. The first time we came, we were thrilled with the«smoking» ice creamers and the ice cream was fantastic. But it was expensive and took a long time. We came back another time anyway… only this time the machines were out of gas and the poor girl working all alone couldn’t get them refilled. They make awesome ice cream(really!) but need to work out the kinks.

Went here because it is similar to Sub Zero in Simi and I love Sub Zero. I had the Banilla Milkshake and I loved it! It contains the Banana and Nilla Wafer. My only complaint is that they only had one person working the counter though and it took 15 minutes for all of us to get our ice cream. Also, the bathroom floors were sticky. Other than that, the ice cream was good but I would much rather have Sub Zero Simi because you can make your own combinations.

I’ve been to the location in Beverly Hills & stoked they have this in a less busy area with easy access to parking depending what time of day it is. Lunch time can be crowded, compared to dinner time is less busy. The sound of liquid nitrogen ice cream is intriguing! Why do they open so late?! 1pm?! but lunch time starts like 11am for me sometimes 12pm. Who starts their day with dessert before an entrée?! ME! Okay, let’s be real though. I’ve been here 3 times & out of those 3, only tried it once! The first time I went with my best friend, the machines were supposedly broken & the girl working didn’t know how to fix them so we had to wait. Ended up leaving cause she said it would take 10 minutes, but she was calling someone for help. The 2nd time, it was closed when we went at 12pm only to find out they open at 1! The 3rd time, well, finally tried it & still YUMMM the way I had it years ago! I got the Blue Velvet ice cream & a friend got Banilla! YES, I spelled that right, B-anilla with a B! Banana & vanilla, good too! But if you want a «must-try» I recommend the blue velvet. I’ve never seen such blue-ish looking ice cream before. It’s like cake mixed in ice cream all together. Totally geeking out inside if you’re into science & chemistry! The ambience is SO blue! As in the happy type of blue, where you’re floating through the clouds of the nitrogen ice cream that they’re making. Made this review a bit nerdy, but you choose & then watch how they make it. Bringing the little ones would make their day cause it made my inner fat kid happy! I could complain about the price, but I choose not to because anything liquid nitrogen should & sounds deservingly«expensive.» $ 4+ for a kid size cup is worth a big scoop.

Hats off to Tyler and Taylor who helped us create several different mixtures. All were equally great, fresh and delicious. Their service made the whole experience wonderful.

The Ice Cream Lab is different than your standard ice cream shop, they prepare your selection in front of you using nitrogen. I ended up here on a Monday night since the place that my friend and I usually go to was closed. We were happy to find out that the Ice Cream Lab was open decently late for a Monday. The location is a bit random– I would never have seen it from the road if it wasn’t for a Google search. I was a bit disappointed by the small selection of ice cream flavors, most of them sounding pretty unappealing at that. I settled on the coffee flavor which was good, but nothing special. A $ 6 total for the smallest size seems a bit overpriced in my opinion. If they expanded their flavor selection and adjusted prices, I would definitely give it a second try.

I agree with many of the reviews. Overpriced at $ 5.50 for what you get. Annoying that they call the small size a «medium»(which it really isn’t). And funny the first thing my 9 yr old said after walking in is, «what’s that chlorine smell?» But the kids did say they liked their ice cream. I tried two flavors and while they were ok, found them somewhat lacking in sweetness(though in the back of my mind I’m thinking maybe this made it heatlhier lol). While I didn’t dislike the ice cream, it puzzled me what was so special about it. You are limited to one flavor for $ 5.50. I’d just as soon go the Baskin Robbins and my kids said the same thing. I had the peanut butter pretzel ice cream that did nothing for me. I gave the pretzel they stuck into the top of the ice cream to the dog. He seemed to like it. To top things off, the ice cream left a moderately yucky taste in my mouth and left me thirsty. So I went back to the water cooler, looking forward to a cold cup of water. Water was warm.

I like the vegan ice cream and sorbet here. Man, these reviews are harsh! Honestly, I like the employees here and find them as helpful as one would expect for an ice cream establishment. Sure, I’d like more flavors. Sure, I’d like it to be cheaper and faster. But, it’s pricing is commensurate with the ingredients. And it’s never going to be as fast as a place selling ready made products. That said, the ice cream has a nice, smooth, and creamy texture! It’s yummy! PS. This place isn’t dirty, does not smell, and not like an alley at all. I think the décor is a little juvenile, maybe bordering cheesy, but I think it’s not unpleasant.

Ice cream lab is very unique. They create your ice cream in under 5 minutes with liquid nitrogen. I give this place a 3 stars because of their pricing & their selection. You only have a few choices of flavors at $ 5.50 for a medium & that price is with NO toppings(Medium is the smallest size they offer) The ice cream is not bad, but I have had a lot better. This business is much like sub zero. Difference between the 2 places? Not much at all besides the selection of ice cream but they have a better flavor. 3 stars = Decent. Would recommended to give it a shot just for the experience & see how you like it!

Freezing ice cream before your very eyes? How gimmicky! But I’m game – I’ll give it a try. Ooh, they have coconut milk ice cream? Okay, that sounds good! It’s pretty empty – just one other person waiting for their order, and a small party in front of me; once I get to the counter, I order, then wait… …and wait… …and wait. For 22 minutes. Twenty-two minutes! Are you kidding me? The place was empty… what would have happened if there had been anything approaching a crowd? Eight-seven minutes to get ice cream? To add insult to injury, the chocolate coconut-milk ice cream was just meh. Trader Joe’s makes one that’s much tastier, and you can get an entire pint for $ 1 less than the cost of one scoop at Ice Cream Lab.

Very cool concept and even better ice cream. Special thanks to Trevor and Marissa for making the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I loved the blue velvet and the strawberry sorbet! Everyone who works there is so nice. They explained how the ice cream is made and let us taste a few samples to help us decide. Fair prices, vegan options!!!

Visited on a Friday night and thankfully not very busy… maybe because of the prices & portions? As another Unilocaler noted, when you walk in you’re hit with an immediate chemical smell that isn’t very pleasant. I’m assuming its the after-effect of the liquid nitrogen, but it is mighty strong! Additionally, the floor is VERY sticky! Myself and another patron both had our shoes slide off from being stuck to the floor. It didn’t look dirty, but the sticky was… weird. I was lucky that my friend had a BOGO coupon for our visit. The prices are pretty steep($ 5.50 for a medium, which was kinda smallish) especially considering what you can get at Yogurtland for the same price! I got the Bubby’s Salted Brownie– the salted brownie topping a bit too salty, but not as bad once you mix it into the ice cream. The ice cream itself is pretty standard… but I guess you’re paying for the liquid nitrogen«show». The staff were courteous and worked quickly, but for the money and the average ice cream I won’t return.

Check out this concept! Liquid nitrogen ice cream, and the only stores are on Cali and Dubai, but of course. So I had the cookies and cream, sat outside, and relaxed after a long hot day. They are in Beverly Hills, Pasadena, downtown LA and in Westlake. The owners are two best friends 20 years old, I love it, entrepreneurs at such a young age! I will always support local businesses too.

1. Terrible signage outside so very difficult to find. 2. When you walk in you are greeted by a strong smell of chlorine. 3. Despite it being freezing outside and the fact that they are working with frozen items &CO2, the air conditioning will be on full blast while the front doors are open. not very environmentally friendly. 4. Liberal Use of Food Coloring in the ice cream 5. The flavors are in 3 different places so chances are you’ll submit your order before you are aware of them all — not well organized and the cashier will not be kind enough to point this out. 6. The girl making the ice cream felt the need to laugh how funny the ice cream flavor name was because Bubbie is a «silly Yiddish word»…wow — not exactly PC there… maybe the naïve blonde girl shouldn’t make fun of Jews?

I’ve known about the Beverly Hills location for a while and I’ve been wanting to try it forever but I never wanted to make the trek all the way out there! So when I heard one had opened about 10 min from my house I was super excited !! I didn’t get there until about 15 min before closing, and based on the reviews I saw on here I really thought I was going to get poor service and snotty employees. But to my surprise, it was the complete opposite! There were two people working a guy and a girl(looks like the same girl in some of the pics on here). The guy took my order and he was super friendly and really nice. The girl was a bit more standoffish but nobody gave me any kind of attitude whatsoever! I was greeted by both employees when I walked in too! And both said bye to me when I left and smiled. I had great service. The ice cream was really tasty and I’ll definitely be back! Such a fun concept. I had the salt crunch and my brother had the cookies and cream. It is a bit pricey but the ice cream itself is pretty rich so the medium winds up being plenty! People who’ve written bad reviews should really give this place a second chance! It’s new! Don’t be too harsh yet. The employees look relatively young too like it might be their first job for some. Go back and try it again. I can’t wait to go back!

Upon entering, we chose to look past the trashy looking employees taking selfies behind the registers, the chemical smell, the tacky graffiti art work on the walls(making you feel like you’re more in an alley than ice cream shop) we chose to try the ice cream anyway for the experience. The girl took a dirty bowl out from a cooler, rumpled to strap it to s machine and then poured a mixture into it. After the«smoke» was over, the young girl tried repeatedly to take off the liquid nitrogen nozzle with her bare hands, such as anyone who knows is extremely dangerous, we were given our«ice cream» It was nothing short of expensive and bland. I would not recommend this place. Not family oriented. Hopefully it won’t last and something more fitting of our community will come in.
