This agencies Hospice nurse, Irma Barona, was absolutely wonderful!
I’m somewhat knowledgeable about medical issues and have several nurse friends.
After discussing my Dad’s situation at length many times with Irma, I was so impressed with her knowledge, care philosophy, and ability to clearly articulate options, that I came to completely trust her judgement and suggestions — in particular when I needed help making tough decisions.
I also believe her extensive experience, insight, and superb care and assistance have helped extend my Dad’s life and have made him more comfortable.
There are many Hospice agencies in the Simi Valley and surrounding areas, and I was very fortunate to have found this one through Charisse Bradley of Bradley House.

Assisted Healthcare provided a caregiver to take care of my Mom. Assisted came highly recommended but I still felt very nervous. I was so relieved after meeting the caregiver and seeing her interact with my Mom, she was very kind and patient with her. Assisted made this difficult situation very easy and my sisters and I were all at ease knowing we had such a wonderful caretaker to help with our Mom. I have referred Assisted to a neighbor and friend and both were as equally pleased with Assisted. I thank Assisteds office staff for all they did to make this easier as well as our wonderful caregiver Nicole.

Assisted does an incredible job at taking what is usually a challenging time/​decision, and making it as easy and seamless as possible. Had a wonderful experience with Home Health after my husband’s accident. When he was discharged from the hospital he needed daily wound care. All the nurses were so caring, compassionate and professional, especially April and Denise.

Assisted was my first RN job working with Hospice patients! The care the Hospice team showed not only me but my patients was exquisite! Now working in Private Duty for Assisted as an RN supervisor has shown me a whole other side of caregiving that we do for our community!!! Patients and family’s use us because they know they can depend on our services to excel beyond their needs! Having lost a grandmother 13 years ago to cancer is what inspired me to work as a nurse and to be in the Home Health field. Now 13 years present after losing her my other grandmother is on service with us! It’s a blessing having Assisted care for me not only on a professional level but also as a family utilizing their service! I couldn’t dream of it being anyone other than Assisted Home Health and Hospice!

I was very thankful for the great nurses at Assisted. My grandmother fell ill couple months back and we were struggling on what to do. Her doctor said she would need some help at home after being in the hospital for a week. The doctor recommended Assisted and not knowing what to do we were happy he did. Dawn, the nurse from Assisted, came to where my grandmother was staying and I swear it was like two peas. Dawn was amazingly sweet to my grandmother and always kept us in the loop. I figured that we would get some cold hearted person but that was so far from the case. Dawn truly cared for my grandmother and it is hard to describe how happy it made us.

The people at Assisted Home Health & Hospice are absolutely AMAZING! The nurse who came out to see my Nana had invisible wings on her back. My Nana, as well as the rest of my family, were all hesitant initially — not knowing what to expect with a stranger coming into her home. To our surprise… The nurse & my Nana became extremely close. Not only was my Nana cared for extremely well… but we all made new loyal friends.
My family & I would all highly recommend Assisted, their nurses & staff to anyone in need of these type of services. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Everyone was professional, on time & most of all… They all made us feel like our needs were most important.

I am so grateful to the nurse who is caring for my mother. I’m not good with stuff like this. By «stuff,» I mean needles, changing out gauze and staying on top of medication. I think I do more harm and than help with how I react to all that. That’s why I’m so thankful to Assisted for providing my mom win a nurse who not only made my mom feel calm and comfortable, but me as well. I don’t expect this journey to be an easy one, but I do feel a lot better that I have an experienced and caring nurse on our side.

All the visiting nurse had to do was change the antibiotics and reset the pump so my husband can receive the medication through his picc line. She accidentally cut the picc line and removed it and now we have to go back to the hospital and have another one put it. The doctor said he has NEVER heard of this happening before. I cancelled their services and would never use them again.

I just wanted to take a moment during this very difficult time for my family to share with others my experience using Assisted Hospice especially considering the extremely negitive review I have just finished reading. Angie was my Dad’s hospice nurse and she was so kind and caring to my Dad I would have thought she was doing this for the first time. My Dad was in so much pain but she tended his wounds carefully and spoke kind words to him even when he could not respond to her. She went the extra mile to see that he was comfortable and not in pain and everything was carefully documented in a notebook to be sure that a dose of medicine was not missed. I of course wish I could have been there every day with my Dad but was unable to as I live out of state. Angie kept me up to date on my Dad’s vitals and daily routine. She was able to inform me when she thought I should make a trip out to be with my Dad and explained the medicine to me and what it did quite clearly. She never predicted what was going to happen but gave us the facts and answered all of our questions with the knowledge of her experiences. She was patient and never seemed to be in a hurry to move on to the next patient or to finish her day. I will be forever grateful that my Dad had excellent care and was comfortable before passing away and that it was not necessary for me to be distracted by poor care and neglect. I was simply able to focus on being with my Dad. Thank you Angie and thank you to Assisted Hospice.

I had the mixed fortune of utilizing both the home health services and then the hospice services for my late mother. While the Home Health division in Ventura had an AMAZING nurse (Melinda) who cares so deeply about her patients and goes to great lengths to ensure they are cared for as if they were her own family, the hospice division failed in every aspect. There were MANY issues, but an easy example is that the hospice nurse didn’t use the right bandage on my mother’s wound, which meant the wound kept getting larger (because the one she used stuck to the wound and tore it larger each time it had to be changed) and this made it more painful for her (like she wasn’t already suffering enough — thanks), but then made a comment somewhere down the line about the proper bandage being «expensive.» WTF? They were even cutting them as tiny as possible to barely fit over the wound and then didn’t leave enough on hand each week. The nurse flew in and out of her twice a week appointments with my mother like the place was on fire and on the occasion where she had to stay longer because my mother’s declining condition necessitated it, I heard about «Well I spent 45 minutes with her today» like it was some kind of imposition. That’s the only time I got an update call — when she wanted to make sure I knew she had to actually spend tim with her. They’re paid a stipend EACH DAY by Medicare for the hospice patients and the hospice patients supplies. Therefore, they seem to want to spend as little as possible of that stipend to maximize profits. In the meantime, the patient is the one suffering. When it’s your loved one, it’s infuriating. Also, I was told that the hospice nurse «the nearest one» was 45 minutes away. Not what you want to hear in case of an emergency — but they don’t care about those because hospice figures the patient is dying anyhow so who cares? So it doesn’t seem like they’re staffed that well either. And to top it all off, I finally decided to get another hospice service but, unfortunately, my mother’s condition was already too far gone by then and she died a week later. The Assisted Hospice nurse stopped me the next day in a parking lot and at first said she was so sorry for the loss and that things didn’t work out with their service but they ‘were improving.’ She then (mind you, this is the day after my mother died) added «Yeah…it’s a shame. They told me how she was crying out in pain begging for pain medicine» before she died. I looked at her mortified as I was still in shock from the loss. Later I thought, «What kind of sadistic B! tch says that to someone who just lost their parent? What kind of caregiver does that? She just wanted to get a cheap shot in for us having changed hospice — in short firing her. That last line from her is a great example why I know I made the right decision. For her sake, I hope to never run into her again.
