I’m sorry, but I’m not a connoisseur when it comes to Mexican food. I just go by the hot sauce, it was as spicy as they said it would be and I give a thumbs up. I ordered the Beef Taco, Smothered Bean Burrito, and Enchilada plate, my friend ordered the Carne Asada Green Chili Smothered burrito. The service was friendly, they have a lot of varieties to choose from. I’m just not brave enough to try the horchata or the Mexican Sodas that they have here. This place is really affordable, the taco was pretty good, I could’ve used more green chili to smother my burrito. The flavor is o-k, I did drown it in red chili hot sauce, because the green chili sauce didn’t do it for me. For $ 7, I can’t complain, I had a better time than Taco Bell. Then again, please let me know of somewhere that’s affordable, not a chain restaurant, and has great Mexican in the northern area of town??? Eat for life!

Love this place and it’s people. They always knew my husband when he called to order every weekend. Great quality, especially the bacon and tortillas! Good selection on the menu, and we’ve had breakfast and dinner and both are superb. Great small restaurant feel, with great flavor! Love your green salsa as well.

I’ve tried three different menu items here and I’m just not a fan. Rolled Chicken Tacos: The best item I’ve had. Very bland chicken, good guac. Chicken Quesadilla: Not very good at all. Yummy tortilla, bland chicken, lots of big tomatoes and green peppers. Just not good. Enchiladas: Decent but red sauce is salty. Never had enchiladas with big chunks of peppers in it. Rice: Minute rice texture and way too salty. Beans: Very bland. Everything I’ve tried is basically too salty or ridiculously bland. I won’t be giving this place another shot.

I love me some Azteca. The service can be a little slow, and if you do go, I’d recommend takeout as the dining room is very hot in the summer. The portions are excellent, and the food is delicious.

After getting a hair cut I was hungry. So I stepped inside. I ordered a Colorado Burrito. And a soda and went to my table. The service was fast and she brought out my burrito served piping hot. With fresh ground beef inside. The prices are reasonable. No Frills place that serves good mexican food with a Colorado twist.

I walk in to the restaurant. Me: One please Her: huh? Me: One please Her: for what? Me: To eat? Her: blank stare Me: Food. Here. *points to tables* Her: OH! Well you have to order up here first then take it and sit down. Not off to a good start. You can’t even be bothered to bring it to the table. Ok. Then I look at the menu. Not only does everything actually LOOK like it’s right out of a can in the pictures the food is actually on paper plates. Canned food, paper plates, challenged help, I could absolutely do better than this at home for half the price. Left without ordering.

Nothin spectacular here. Menu items listed sound great but when they arrive to the table it’s a big disappointment. Been here before but decided to try it again and it only confirmed what I’ve known. Bland food that any respectable abuelita would just throw to the dogs. The young lady at the counter on this particular day needs a personality too. She didn’t say thank you, greet you, nothin. When my food was ready, she tossed the bag on the counter and walked to the back. Not a peep. Never again. Eff these putos.

I was hungry and craving something different for breakfast. I wanted something other than your typical run-of-the-mill breakfast joints. As I was driving down the street, I caught a glance of this restaurant. It was called El Azteca. From the outside, it looked different, it reminded me of something from the inner city where the food is authentic and delicious. Upon entering, I noticed that there were no decorations it was plain and it felt like a Prison cafeteria not that I’ve ever been to prison but I’m assuming this is what it would be like kind of sterile and blah. Obviously they didn’t give much thought to decorating the restaurant. The menu is literally stuck to the wall as wallpaper. As I looked at the menu I noticed that this was just another run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Now at that point, I could have easily turned around and went and got a breakfast sandwich from somewhere else but I was there and decided to dive in head first. Everything on their menu from the ceiling to the floor, was your typical Mexican restaurant enchiladas, chile rellenos, burritos etc… As I was standing there falling into deeper and deeper disappointment my emotions were saved by their signature burrito called El Azteca. Pork Carnitas Pico de Gallo, guacamole wrapped in a flour tortilla smothered in green Chile. As I was reading what their signature burrito contained I began to salivate and felt my stomach growling even more, it sounded delicious. I ordered it. The price was very reasonable. The smothered burrito came with a side of beans and rice. I went to the prison style seating area and sat down and patiently waited for my delicious breakfast. Three minutes later, seriously 3 minutes my food came out of course I had them package it to go. I didn’t want to sit there alone in the creepy eating area. I decided to stop at a local park and enjoy the warm sunny weather along with my delicious breakfast. At this point I was anxious it smelled good and I only imagined how good the burrito was going to be. I arrived at the park and exited my vehicle with the food in my hand and no doubt a big smile on my face only because I knew that I was going to enjoy some delicious food. As I sat down I opened the styrofoam box and immediately noticed the tortilla was mass produced it was waxy and chewy. The green chile was a light yellow in color and very watery. There were no pieces of pork and nothing in the green chile that let my taste buds know I was eating green chile. So I cut into it I am not exaggerating when I say there was at least one inch of tortilla wrapped around the contents of the burrito. I took the first bite, the first bite had some of the pork some of the pico de gallo and and to my surprise they forgot the guacamole. The green chile was obviously canned, it tasted sour and again nothing to indicate it was green chile. The rice on a scale of 1 to 10 was about of 4 it had nice color but that is it it didn’t have any flavor the only thing I had and taste it was the beans I thought to myself, they can’t mess beans up can they? Well… They did. Needless to say, out of 40 years of eating and dining at thousands of restaurants all over the world, this is proba bly in my top 5 worst restaurants the only thing appealing to me was the name. The Aztec culture the Aztec food is by far some of the best food I’ve ever had. The name of this restaurant is an insult and embarrassment to the Aztec culture. I would never eat here again and I would absolutely not recommend it. I know that this review is long but the truth had to be told for the people who gave this restaurant 5 stars I beg to differ… The only positive thing I can say about this restaurant is, the anticipation helped bring back memories of delicious food I’ve eaten in the past. But the reality was a terrible experience.

Great little spot for some good smothered burritos! We really enjoy their veggie burrito deluxe style. YUM! As for the other reviewer that said it is not authentic and canned… Well DER! Your getting ‘fast food’. If you want quality ingredients make it yourself. But for the rest of us who want delicious Mexican food delivered. This place will do just fine. :)

There is nothing authentic or original at El Azteca. Everything comes out of a box or can; flavor doesn’t lie. Dine-in eaters can enjoy their terrible meal on plastic plates with flimsy plastic ware in an unwelcoming cafeteria-like dinning room. I tried this place because of the semi decent reviews here in Unilocal.I’m sorry but anyone who thinks this food is tasty or authentic lives in a cave… or so far north of the border they can see ocean. My taste buds have not been so upset in a while! The enchiladas had unmelted shredded cold cheese in the center!!! Better mexican food comes out of my own kitchen. I truly wish I could recoup every penny spent here today!

I had such a big craving for some taqueria food today. This business was in the area, stated quick service and this seemed like as good a place as any. I took some friends with me for a nice quick lunch, and the location it’s self was hard to find, even when using Google Map. We walked in to a completely empty restaurant, the décor was standard tacky and definitely understated. One whole wall has 8×10 glossy pictures of the food and name, this is an impressive menu display to say the least. The staff(of 1) was nice and took my order. I love chilaquiles, they are simple and easy to make. It’s basically a chip, but instead it’s strips of corn tortilla, freshly fried and then smothered in a savory salsa and then topped with an egg. I requested a substitute of shredded chicken for the egg and then added lettuce, tomato and crema. She was very accommodating and my order was in! What was given to me didn’t look a thing like the picture or felt like a the traditional dish. Instead, I received a plate with rice and beans on the side, with regular store bought corn chips instead of the chilaquiles. The salsa was about as thin as water, so it seemed to be a soup base that they were swimming in. My chicken was bland and sparse and I couldn’t get over the fact that the presentation looked ok, but the taste and product was lacking. My friend ordered a tostada and the salsa on her food was also like water that it broke and was soggy by the first bite! The waitress/cashier disappeared to the back and never came back out again. The rice and beans were good however, I just felt that their salsa was lacking in every way possible so regardless of the menu option, you aren’t going to have anything as mouthwatering as the pictures on the wall menu promise. I can’t say I will go back again, we had to endure the worst techno music sound bite repeatedly the whole time, it was mind numbing and really didn’t help the atmosphere,

Food was cooked fresh and very tasty. Their sauces are pretty darn spicy, and some of their regular customers have screaming children running around the restaurant. I presume that is why most people opt for take out.

I like this place. Hidden Gem. My old go to Authentic Mex food closed down(Jalisco on 104th near red lobster) and i’ve been searching for a replacement for a long time. I’ve found two places that have the caliber of food I like in the local area. El Azteca and El Mirador on Huron. Both are excellent. Azteca is more for your drop in or take-out non-table service experience whereas Mirador is a full service sit-down restaurant. Don’t go here for atmosphere, wine/beer, or table service. Just good authentic Mexican food. They just started delivering! All the more reason to like this place. *EDIT* just got delivery, not very good. Chicken and beef doesn’t taste very good. I’ll take it down a star, but will try again in-store and let you know.
