Cafe Gecko

Nice chill place to enjoy a few drinks and a few appetizers. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. Our attentive waitress offered us chips and queso to sample while we waited for our drinks. We shared the stuffed jalapenos. The jalapenos are stuffed with chicken and cheese then breaded. The breading was super hard, almost like an overcooked corn dog, but the spicy jalapeño and chicken mixture is tasty enough to save this dish. This is a smoke free restaurant and it is on the quieter side so you can have a decent conversation. With the mood lighting, this would make a great first date place to meet for cocktails. The pet friendly outdoor patio is very nice and I can envision us enjoying many warm evenings out there watching the comings and goings of Austin Ranch.

Had a baby shower for my daughter owner and his crew treated us like royalty, couldn’t have had more fun. Food was fantastic everyone had a fabulous time! Everyone was thrilled. Raved about everything!!!

We just moved to Austin Ranch but I’ve been to Gecko off and on for years. It USED to be great…
My husband and I went in yesterday and it was horrible. Bad service. Bad drinks. BAD food. I had a bloody mary that was all mix with a splash of vodka way too much ice with a dried up lime. We had to ask for a waitress every time we wanted any thing. They NEVER came to check on us not once. I felt as though we were bothering the waitresses. We ordered lunch and we received a mediocre burger and the WORST pasta I’ve ever had. It was so over seasoned with a pound of pepper on top. I told the waitress I couldn’t even eat it and I needed to order another meal. It wasn’t taken off our bill. I had 2 terrible bites. There was only one table that received great service. I knew that bc they were drunk and screaming. But they continued to receive drink after drink after drink. We had to ask for a menu, ask for a beer menu, ask for drinks and ask for lunch. I don’t know about you, but I don’t go out to eat to beg a waitresses for every single thing I want.

really cool place, laid back and has the absolute best steak quesadilla I have ever had! I highly recommend Raul’s steak quesadilla!!! the wait staff are friendly and pets are welcome on the patio! awesome place!

We didn’t really know what expect when we came into café Gecko, but we saw the sign for pizza and thought «let’s try it.» Their drink specials weren’t bad, and the staff was friendly. So we ordered chips and quest (ehh) and ordered a pizza. The pizza toppings and sauce were good, but the crust was soggy and flat. Overall the bar itself is nice enough, but if you’re looking for good good you might want to try something else.

Having been to the Addison location on several occasions I decided to drag some friends along to Café Gecko.
We were hungry so asked our server, Emily, for some food menus. We had a look through but there wasn’t really anything on the menu any of us really wanted. I think we were a little spoiled by the atmosphere at The Saintsbury that we were at earlier.
This Café Gecko is much larger than the Addison location and had a whole different atmosphere. To me, it seemed more of a place to hang out with the wife or a date rather than the guys.
That said, it’s really not that bad. They did have some decent beers and the staff we interacted with were friendly.
It might have just been «one of those nights» so I’ll definitely be back to give it a try and maybe try the pizza that everyone seems to rave out.
Overall, no real complaints, though nothing to really make it stand out early. This is one of those judge for yourself type of places and I’d certainly recommend you give it a try and make your own decision.

This is a great place to hang out with friends, catch games and play games (ring game, pool, golden tee). Food is great — shrimp poboy and pizza

The pizza really is decent here! Good sandwiches and burgers also. I used to live in the Austin Ranch area when I had my first job outta college and used to grab a pizza pie often when I was feeling lazy. It’s a very laid back and chill joint to come watch the games. Definitely a good place to go sports bar wise If you bring friends and want to be able to have a convo without all of the loud shouting and such that goes along with sports bars. Decent prices and it’s surrounded by some other good spots to eat and chill. It’s a good alternative to the busier parts of this area and you won’t have to deal with traffic or issues with parking.

Very very good pizza plus a selection of other food kept in southern flavor style what suits me. Well equipped bar with huge selection of beers and liquors and drinks. Sports bar part full of tvs with various games on — everyone can find anything for himself jere. Watch out though — not an intimate place for dating.

Always come here for their pizza. Ever since I started coming here, I’ve never had any other item from the menu. Pizza is always fresh and flavorful. You really can’t go wrong here.

Everyone enjoys their pizza. Me not so much. I’m in love with «the sammich». Always friendly staff! Come here all the time!

Were here every Sunday for the cowboys games. Food is always great but the service is consistently terrible. With a full restaurant they only have 3 servers working which leaves them no time take care of their guests. The wait staff is inexperienced in that they go through and wait on one person at a time instead of walking through their sections and taking orders for people all at one time. The servers and the store itself have the potential to make so much more money if tables saw their server more than once every half hour. This place needs to learn to properly staff.

For starters, I don’t think that picture of the guy in the photos is from this establishment. It doesn’t look anything like that as far as I can remember.
Now, all I can say is that I came here recently, had a beer, a burger, and watched some football — and it was easily a Top 10 burger (for a place that doesn’t even specialize in burgers!), tacked on with completely awesome and friendly staff.
The burger is so flavorful, no wonder it didn’t need anything but the traditional lettuce, onion, tomato. You can get it as a cheeseburger, and I got pepperjack. It’s perfectly melted, and that soft, sweet bun is the perfect accompaniment to it. I love when the burger bun is soft and you can squish it down thin. It’s a pretty big burger… I’d say ½lb and tastes so good and meaty, I looked forward to every bite with total excitement! haha — and let’s not forget the waffle fries. Waffle fries are on my «last supper» list, if that opportunity (for lack of a better word) arises. And these are some of the best ones I’ve had. Comes with the burger.
Prices are reasonable, there are TVs all around, staff rocks, place is clean, there’s beer on tap, food is yummy… what more do you want from a sports bar? :)

What a great establishment. The food and service are great. I love a neighborhood sports bar where the owner is present. I’m so glad they banned smoking. Way to go Unilocal

One star just because I cant give zero. Please note that this used to be a very nice place that we visited often since we live in the area, but last night they totally lost us as customers.
We went in as a group, 4 couples and a baby, all family, all latinos. We walked over from the apartment and The plan was to have a few drinks and dinner. Everything was going fine until the manager came over to our table and in a very rude manner asked, who was in charge of the baby? What? The baby is obviously in charge of his parents, who were both there. The manager was concerned for the safety of the baby because there was drinking at the table, valid concern. But what he failed to notice was that the baby’s mother was drinking nothing but water, and another one of our friends was pregnant, so obviously she wasn’t drinking either. He claimed the boys in our group were loud and over served, if that was the case then he should discuss that issue with his staff for overserving. Were the boys overserved, probably yes, but again as a manager the approach was just incorrect.
Anyway, the manager’s attitude and approach to the situation was so bad, that we decided to leave before our dinner was out, because he obviously ruined the whole vibe of the night. Everyone was mad at this situation, of course!
If you go to any other restaurant/​bar, i.e. Chilis, Applebees, etc, you will be served until your waiter considers you have had enough, and if there is a time in which kids are not allowed at the restaurant, then they notify this from the get go and you can plan accordingly.
The waitresses were extra rude as well throughout the night. I think they just didn’t like us from the get go. To the owner of this establishment, please review your policies if any, and make them clear to your customers as soon as they walk in. Also review with your staff the over serving policy, so that they are more up to date with those. Most horrible experience ever.

Only bad thing so far is that they don’t deliver not even to Austin Ranch residents. Best thing to order is the seafood nachos!

For those that prefer a non smoking establishment, you are in luck because they no longer allow smoking. Having said that, if you are a smoker, there is plenty of great outdoor space that is smoker friendly.
I have been here twice and the service is really inconsistent. The first time the hubs and I came here together, the bartenders were very friendly and attentive. The place was not super busy but was lively and had a good vibe. The second time we came, well, blech. We were served by a bartender with short gray/​blond hair whose face would probably crack if she smiled — I’m not convinced she could even fake friendly if she tried. To her credit, she did check on us often but didn’t make me want to stay.
Pizza is ok… nothing special, but was tasty enough. I’ll only go back because of its proximity to my house and would not go out of my way to come here. It’s a shame really… there is SO much money to be made here because the location is great and one could really get a killer «regular» crowd here if the service was consistent.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Always wear something you can wash promptly because you will definitely smell like smoke after leaving. Even as a precious smoker myself this place is a bit much.
Good things… Their pizza is amazing. And always get ranch to dip it in. So good! The sour cream chicken nachos are one of a kind. They knock it out of the park with all of their food. Drinks are usually poured just right, too.
Check it out. Just sit on the left non-​smoking side if you can. Oh and don’t be in a hurry. Not the best service.
