I arrived more than an hour ahead of time as was recommended on a day when there were no other people looking to rent. it took over ten minutes to find the manager who apologized but said he could accommodate our group. Voucher was for 4 hours, but since the weather was causing 3′ waves to spill into the boat and getting everyone wet(regardless of the bimini cover) we only used it for three hours. We were given no assistance from deckhands to guide us into the dock and some of the younger kids actually got mad when we came back early. They instructed I wait with them(in the rain) so they could raise the boat out of the water to check the propeller. Admittedly, it was scratched from what I(as an experienced boater) would consider normal wear, so I admitted I saw it. They said«no problem» so I left. 3 days later i was charged $ 179 for, what I discovered after multiple tries to contact the company, was a NEW propeller since i had«destroyed» the previous one. I had to argue since THEY never showed me this«new» prop BEFORE i took the boat out… very disappointing. Boat also had no depth gauge and management gave no advice/warning as to the lake’s hazardous areas, just«stay 75′ away from everything» and a map that had been rendered unreadable from water stains. Mgmt offered to compensate my claim with a «free» rental on one of their other boats provided I cover the cost of gas… whadda«deal». I passed and recommend anyone reading this does the same.

Horrible experience. Rent from this unprofessional business ATYOUROWNRISK. Summary: Big D Watersports gave us a boat with many issues that ruined our outing. There was no management personell at the location to give us alternative options or any information on what was wrong with the boat and there was no replacement boat available. We gave up our reserved time because we did not feel safe on the boat. Workers there promised that management would call back before day’s end but I had to call back myself the NEXT day. Management does not care about customer’s experience or issues that they faced, all caused by management’s unprofessionalism. Details: Rented a ski boat on 8÷10÷2013 to have a good outing with my friend from Germany who was only in town for that day. 1. Right as we pull out of the marina — The console is BEEPING nonstop at a VERY high volume. We take a quick look and The fuel gauge was EMPTY! Drove right back to the dock.(all on tape) The guy there said that the tank was full, the gauge is just stuck, there were no other boats available. And any other options he would have to ask«Trish», the manager. Where is Trish? The guy says«She’s across the lake delivering a boat, she doesn’t have her phone with her, we don’t know when she’s going to be back.» We had already driven 40 minutes and paid $ 10 to get into the park + we had a guest from across the world. With the lack of available information from the absent manager, lack of employees who knew what to do in this situation, we took the boat back out. 2. As I was behind the boat putting on waterskis, we notice puffs of blue-ish grey substance coming out the rear of the boat. Note that at this time I was literally in the water RIGHT next where this stuff was coming out. Honestly can’t say if I swallowed any of that, and didn’t know if it would be harmful coming in contact with my eyes or skin. We taped this too. Called the number that the workers gave us for emergencies. No answer. Turns out that this number goes to the manager’s cell, which she did not carry with her. With the boat possibly leaking fuel and the fuel gauge BROKEN, we had to take the boat back. 3. Back at the dock — manager still not back. The guy there says«it could be any amount of time before she gets back.» We had another girl document the issues we had for Trish the manager to read. The girl said Trish would«call as soon as she gets back.» Trish NEVER called me back on her own. This must mean she never made it back to the office right??? 4. The next morning, I called Trish’s cell and left a voice mail. When she called me back, she said that she was aware of the situation and that she had read the notes the other girl took yesterday. So… Why didn’t she call me right then? Really unprofessional lack of courtesy to make the customer follow up. 5. On the phone she adamantly insisted that it was our fault that we took the boat out. That’s with no information to go on, and no management available to give us alternatives. She said the blue-ish puffs were«just exhaust» and there was nothing«mechanically wrong» with the boat. When I brought up the number 1 issue that why she didn’t make herself or another management-level person available to help us with a boat that had issues. She said«I HAVE A BUSINESSTORUN, ATTHATTIME I HADMOREIMPORTANTBUSINESSTOATTENDTO.» There you have it — if you rent from this place, expect the manager to always have more business to attend to. They already got your money.
