Great seafood! Very friendly staff and hot and crispy food that came out quickly. No complaints here, just great seafood.

Hmmm What happened? I had been here a year ago & everything was Great. Food service etc… The food is still good… Service SUCKS. As my daughter & I are waiting our server was discussing«baby mammas» with her table. All servers on shift with the exception of one having inappropriate conversations where guests can hear and discussing other items from across the dining hall. Oh, & not even a smile, hello, or oh wait I wouldn’t be able to tell you her name because she never said! Maybe fried alligator to go will be our next step with this place.

A hidden gem! We ate a late Sunday lunch of grilled red snapper, grilled shrimp, and a mix of grilled vegetables. Everything was extremely fresh, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Service was personable, friendly, helpful, and timely. Our food came out steaming hot and delicious. The portions are huge for an incredibly reasonable price. The restaurant is clean and well kept. I definitely recommend, and will be back!!!

Ginormous portions! Prices were very low for the amount of food you get. The only let down was that our baked potatoes came with artificial bacon bits. Was kind of strange actually because the rest of the food was of very good quality. Our server was Jared, he was sooooo nice and helpful! Great server! Although it seemed that the waitstaff was stretched a bit too thin. No host on, only 3 servers for the whole restaurant… on a Saturday night. But overall, good experience and we will be back!

Baytown Seafood in Texas City may the worst example of a restaurant in Texas City. I can’t say for certain, I haven’t eaten in every restaurant in Texas City, but it is difficult for me to imagine otherwise. I went there on the recommendation of several. I now have no regard at all for those peoples’ assessment of an eatery. I truly believe they will eat anything. One regaled me with what a wonderful burger is available there. I ordered the same, took one bite and sent it back. My partner couldn’t believe it was that bad, having never seen me send a meal back, tried a bite herself, discretely covered her mouth to spit the bite into a napkin. While I agree it is not the best idea to order a cheeseburger in a seafood restaurant, it shouldn’t be that bad. We never did decide what the alleged meat was, and the bun was something neither of us had seen before, and stale on top of that. The stench of stale fish/seafood is overpowering upon entry, the upholstery in the booths is old and stained, as is the carpet, and the service, while pleasant, was seriously slow. The shrimp meal ordered was oily, cooked in oil not heated correctly, made so most likely by dumping frozen seafood into it and failing to let the oil recover its temperature between orders, and the batter on the shrimp was correspondingly soggy and carelessly seasoned. I have been told the fish is locally caught, I don’t know, but I do know this: much of the bay hereabouts has health warnings regularly regarding fish consumption. Be advised.

Fantastic stuffed red snapper. Old place but who cares about ambiance when the food is so good?

Good crawfish, HORRIBLESERVICE! Avoid and save your precious time if you thinks its valuable, pretty sure there is good crawfish at other places in this city with better service. I’m hoping I don’t have to go way to New Orleans for good crawfish. I’m giving up on hope out here.

The positives: the food was good, the portions large, and the price ridiculously inexpensive. We each got the grilled flounder which the menu says is caught locally. Normally $ 8.99 for 2 four ounce filets served with dirty rice and grilled veggies(zucchini and onions) it was on special for $ 7.99. We substituted a baked potato at no extra charge. We easily could have shared one meal… neither of us finished. Drinks come in enormous cups. Service was good and friendly. The negatives: come on folks. It’s old, it’s a dive, and at these prices who can afford to remodel?

Service was horrible and the food sub par. We had a big party and the server hardly looked at us except for the obligatory nod.

Ordered the seafood gumbo which was tasty crawfish shrimp and the okra should have been cooked a little longer. Stuffed crabs were nice but don’t care for the coating on the crabs, contain crab meat and veggies overall I may return

When I drove by the restaurant, it reminded me of a Long John Silver b/c it has a drive-thru window. I admit I stuck my nose up in the air at the idea of eating there b/c I assumed it would be all gross over-fried mystery fish. WRONG! This is the exception to that rule! Admittedly, we didn’t do the drive-thru, we ate our wonderful meat inside. The place wasn’t very full even though it was a Friday evening, but the wonderful smell of cooking seafood filled the air and my mouth totally watered instantly. Our waitress was awesome– super sweet, fast, knowledgable, and on the ball. The food was awesome! I ordered 6 Grilled Jumbo Shrimp and it came with grilled vegetables, dirty rice, and a salad. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the seasoning on them were really good. The salad was a bit wet for my preference, but still good, and the dirty rice wasn’t «dirty» enough for me, but I know they can’t make it as spicy as I personally like it since they have to appeal to everyone. The grilled veggies were really good and a nice addition to the plate. My husband got the same thing as me with the addition of a grilled snapper filet. His snapper was sooooo good– cooked perfectly, flaky, and awesome. I would totally get the snapper next time I go!
