We like Ironwood. I’ve particularly enjoyed the chopped spinach salad, shrimp tacos, guacamole dip, hummus on flat bread and blackened grouper. The coconut curry thing not so much but that’s what makes a ball game. My wife orders the pizza every time. Apparently she really likes it. Service is sketchy though. Sometimes good, often just ok. Lack of enthusiasm displayed by the staff during our last visit. That’s not altogether uncommon here. Still, we like Ironwood.

I was on a business trip and decided to visit this place yesterday because of its high ratings. I ordered the spinach and tomato penne pasta w/chicken dish. It was very, very bland! There was minimal spinach and tons of parsley that over-powered the dish. I asked that the dish be remade to add additional spinach and less pasta. So, after 10 minutes, the«manager» came back to my table with the same dish in a different plate. So, they acted as if they remade the dish for me. I don’t like liars and refuse to visit this place again. Shame on you!!! No telling what the hell they did to my dish. Integrity goes a long way!

My brother and I visited one night recently. He had a large burger while I had the fish special. They did a great job on both our meals. We’ll go back.

Holy guacamole this place is great! Don’t skip the guacamole, grilled shrimp or the chicken tacos. Excellent service and a great patio to sit on.

Ironwood Grill has very good entrees, but it’s teetering and leaning towards average. Early Saturday evening. The parking lot is – different: two loops and one dead end. The entrance is different: two doors separated by five feet. The right door goes into a tight corner. The building is open, clean, and in good repair. The greeting is rote, but there was no warmth. There’s a lot of staff — mostly standing. The booth’s vinyl seat had damage(alligatoring). But I wanted to sit outside… There are no specials. Per a friend’s recommendation, I ordered the hummus grilled flat bread as an appetizer. It was very good, but not very grilled. The hummus, fruits and vegetables, and bleu cheese were good. The flat bread was from a bag. The wait-person recommended the blackened grouper. That’s not on the menu! Well, yes, it is – kinda. The menu lists fish. Under the fish is says you can get it blackened. Nowhere does it identify the fish. I don’t think the wait person told me. I ordered jasmine rice and side Caesar as sides. The blackened grouper was amazing! Hot and crisp on be outside and tender and moist on the inside. And there was a lot of it! Two fillets. The heat wasn’t too hot or salty. The jasmine rice was good. It was undressed so it was a little bland. The side Caesar was straight from the fridge. A big disappointment was the dinner roll: straight from the bag. Do not pass toaster. No butter, spread, dip, or gravy? I ordered half and half iced tea. The wait-person done good on the first pass. On the refill, it looked really weak, like it wasn’t tea at all. Because it wasn’t. She apologized and quickly fixed it. After I finished, she brought the check. Dessert? Coffee? Post-prandial? I guess not. The wait-person offered an iced tea to go. That was great! Overall, the dining experience was average. Ironwood Grill could’ve been phenomenal. I recommend, but watch for a decline in service and quality.

I am trying to be a little harder on my ratings but I just can’t find anything wrong with this place. The Waitress(Carolyn) was amazing, the food was fantastic and the ambience was perfect. First place in a long time that asked me how I wanted my burger cooked and actually delivered it exactly how I requested. Had a BlueCheese wedge salad that all the flavors from the cranberries to the nuts and dressing all blended well together bringing out the flavorful delights a true foodie needs. Also had the Black and Blue burger ordered Medium rare. It was absolutely the best burger I’ve had in a long time. This place would have gotten the fifth star except I noticed when paying my bill that they charge for refill sodas. It’s a fountain drink. I just assumed you got free refills. Very glad I wasn’t real thirsty. I may have come unhinged if I’d of had more than 2.

The food was cooked as ordered superbly! Steamed broccoli just at the right crunchiness. Thought it was funny for my server to verify if they serve Baily’s and coffee when I asked for one. She asked me «mixed together?» Sounded like she didn’t know about that cocktail. End of meal she said, «I love Baily’s and coffee!» Not that she had any during my stay but a good try on affirmation of service charm. :)

I had to give it time before I could really give this place another review under the new ownership. I’ve been here a few times since the new régime came along and I will say this, not all change is good. The former owners were on top of everything, very hands on, and made sure everything was up to their standard. All of the ingredients were fresh and the only thing on the menu that didn’t seem like it was made by hand with that extra special love and care in the kitchen were the french fries. The former owners built Ironwood up in the community through hard work, no cutting corners, and by not being cheap. This new version of Ironwood has the same name, same atmosphere but that is about where it ends. Each time I have visited since the new ownership took over the quality of the food has dipped. It started out as simple things, watering down the salsa and using canned tomato instead of fresh and it continued to be increasingly worse up until the last time I went last week. In my original review I praised the Chicken and Waffles, this place can’t call what they put on my plate a meal. They served me a microwaved Eggo waffle and a tough, fatty, unevenly fried piece of chicken. I could understand some inconsistency with the meat because sometimes you just get a crappy cut, but not actually making a waffle? Serving frozen waffles just shouldn’t happen, it takes less than five minutes to cook up a waffle. The food is taking a serious hit in quality… That is what made Ironwood a highly touted, local business in Texarkana, it’s quality. It isn’t a chain, they don’t get trucks full of frozen whatever they’re going to sell, they had real food and now that isn’t happening. It just seems like the new owners are taking a chain mentality to this local gem and turning it into a dud. The quality and care is fleeting and it is very sad because this has been my go-to restaurant in Texarkana for the better part of seven years. There was a good five year stretch were 90% of my Friday nights in a year were spent at Ironwood with friends or family enjoying a delicious, fresh meal. This isn’t that place anymore. This is only Ironwood in name, it’s not the local legend it once was.

What a great place hidden in a world of chain restaurants! When I say hidden — I mean it. If you aren’t from the area, the address on their website doesn’t work on a GPS. Use the address listed in Unilocal.I circled the area for about twenty minutes ending up in an apartment complex again and again with the address in their site. It was well worth the search. Locals recommended I come here and get the blackened fish tacos, but I ended up getting the New York strip, side of green beans and baked mac and cheese. Yes, yes and YES! Zach was my server — super attentive and great! This will be a staple next time I am visiting Texarkana for work.

Ironwood just changed ownership so I thought I’d check it out before anything huge changed. Also I saw some reviews that said it was going downhill. But my experience was anything but… I really wanted a juicy steak but it was lunch time so I decided to be good. Although apparently not that good. I had the Asian Curry? Or something like that. It was a little strange to be called a curry but it still tasted really good. It had the right flavors and the right ingredients that makes a delicious curry. It could have used more rice for the amount of curry and I wish I could have seen the cilantro behind the bowl before I finished my meal, but I’m just nit picking now. Yes they don’t currently have a liquor license to serve alcohol but I knew that and I was working so it was all good. A great place for a decent meal with great company.

Boooo. New owners. I called for a table of 4. They said no reservations. So I asked how long, and the hostess said no wait. I live 3 miles away so we left immediately. 43 minutes later we get our table. WOW. Be honest. Then, we order a glass of wine each. Nope! New owners. No license to sell I guess. Information like this would have been great when all of us arrived. We all got an apetizer and headed downtown to eat.

With the big deal everybody makes about it, you’d expect Ironwood Grill to have the best bite in Texarkana, but the truth is the place is aggressively mediocre. That isn’t to say that it’s bad — it’s not — but there’s certainly nothing inspired or special about it. Enter with the same expectations you would at a Chili’s or Applebee’s and you’ll leave happy; anything more and you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.

Can’t speak highly enough about the Ironwood Grill in Texarkana. Very high quality food; everything we ordered was delicious. Server was very friendly and sweet. Easily worth the drive from Bossier/Shreveport. I’ll be eating here again without question!!!

Just ok. Service was good and the steak was good. The grouper, which was supposed to be a favorite, was not very good. Expect serious comfort food here as they liberally use grease, fat and salt. The sandbox was a nice touch for those of us with kids.

We dined here March 2015 during our road trip to seven states! This is one of the better meals we’ve had as a family. Feel lucky to find this gem. The menu is very extensive with lots of options. and you can make some healthy choices. We really enjoyed the pound of onion rings — big onions — light batter, with great warm blue cheese dressing to dip. Gin and tonic — just $ 5! Kids menu — included steak! Finally real food on a kids menu. Our girls enjoyed sharing the small and tasty steak with steamed broccoli! Also the grilled cheese was tasty and right for the price with drink included for $ 5.25 — super appreciate this! Dinner we had a simple yet nice cesar salad, blackened fish. Really pleased with the service also. Great for families there is a patio and sandbox for kiddos outside. If I lived here — I would definitely return.

Came in tonight with coworkers for dinner and was not disappointed! I got the ginger chicken– a succulent, tender, juicy roasted chicken breast(served with skin which I removed) seasoned to perfection(a hint of ginger, teriyaki and cilantro, but not too powerful) and soaked up the juice with some steamed broccoli and a baked potato. Coworkers went with the fish tacos, 10 oz rib eye, and the Texas shrimp and all were thoroughly enjoyed. The only hiccup was that the roasted sweet potato fries took too long and had to be subbed for a fresh sweet potato. Service was perfectly helpful and friendly(I think the server’s name was Heidi and she was great!), atmosphere was casual, somewhat modern rustic, and classy. No wait around 6:30 on a Tuesday. Prices are extremely affordable and comparable to, if not less than, any major chain around. I got a glass of red wine, a coworker got a cocktail and one coworker got a soft drink and including tip, the meal came in right at $ 100. Can’t really beat that around here for the quality and variety. Can’t wait to return.
