Cheddar’s Casual Café

Cheddar’s is one of those chains in the vein of Applebees and TGI Friday’s, and as one would expect, it doesn’t raise the bar.
If you’ve eaten anything at the aforementioned restaurants, you know what to expect. Mediocre food that compensates by being served in mammoth portions. Needless to say, I was utterly unimpressed and was left feeling entirely apathetic.

Really good: cheese bites appetizer.
Good:
Chicken tender basket buffalo style, chips-​n-​salsa, tortilla soup, blackened salmon, fish tacos, black beans, raspberry lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and service.
Meh:
Broccoli cheese side, French fries.
Room for improvement:
Kiddie cheeseburger – comes frozen I’m pretty sure and quickly turned into a hockey puck; and their mango lemonade, which tasted too strong and kinda like a chemical.

So this is my first check in but I have been here a few times. I am always here for work, and live away so am alone normally. I like the food but it’s not over the top. Since I am not a local I did want to comment on the service I get and it’s been really great. The last few times I have had Brianna as a server/​bartender. She seems to out do her number of drinks by 5 to 1 to her Co-​bartender Patrick. Thank goodness I got her for my bartender. I would recommend this place for food but it’s not over the top. Brianna over did it tonight by making sure my food came out while serving the entire waitstaff so very impressive. Thank you Brianna!

Every visit we’ve had great service at this location. The food is always good, fast, and the way we ordered it. The staff is friendly and the portion sizes are great. Definitely one of our number one choices to eat at.

I had not been to Cheddars in some time since there are none in the Rutland area, but she nce I am now in Terre Haute, I was excited to go. For those of you who are new to Cheddar’s, they are POPULAR! Do expect to wait for a table if you are wanting to dine during peak hours. The last time I dined at Cheddar’s was in the Air Capital. The menu has a new format, but the food hasn’t changed. My favorite is the broccoli casserole side dish. No matter what I order, BC is on the side. All entrées are great. The wait staff was very attentive and personable. Terre Haute, good job!

Soooo good. If you go, you must try their Spinach dip and Baked potato soup.

Cheddar’s is a big box restaurant that doesn’t necessarily feel like one. I can’t say it’s any better or worse than an Applebee’s or TGI Fridays, but it is different in its own special way.
Like most of its suburbia peers it offers a wide variety of Americana in regards to food and beverages. If there is a particular food that you like that isn’t considered in the «ethnic food» category, odds are that Cheddar’s will have it and they came serve it the way you like.
I myself like their Chicken Finger/​Strips. I just like the type and amount of breeding. I’m also a huge fan of their steamed veggies as they don’t over cook them like so many others do.
I’m giving Cheddar’s 3 stars because it is good food, but it isn’t anything special. We go to Cheddar’s when everyone wants food, but no one knows what they want. I do like them better than the other chain restaurants that I named before, but I cannot honestly say that I’ve ever woken up and really wanted Cheddar’s.
Please don’t view this as a bad review, because it totally isn’t meant to be one. Cheddar’s is a good place to eat, and I do always have a pleasant experience. It’s a clean and inviting place with good food. If you’ve never tired it I think you should.

Chedders has been my new favorite place to eat when I go shopping! I have never had anything bad! The buffalo chicken wraps have been my favorite so far!

We waited 45 minutes for a single appetizer. We received no refills during our wait. The tables around us were constantly tended and their orders brought out quickly. When we finally managed to find our waiter we asked about our order and he had no idea why our food wasn’t already served. He went to ask the kitchen and we waited an additional 5 for his return, then gave up and put on our coats. The manager was unapologetic and asked if we still intended to pay for our drinks. My family and I will NOT be returning.

Cheddar has improved on the food. We have been several times and ordered the ribey, each time it was great! cooked perfect to order and the size of the steak was bigger than I thought it would be. I have also ordered the Monte Cristo and it was a real one, I haven’t found a restaurant that makes them correctly like this since the 90s. 2 thumbs up

Buffalo chicken wraps are served with fries. A little spicy hot, but very good. The outside seating is open. Set on the north side on a cool summer night and have a cold one.

I’m not sure how Cheddar’s gets away with slow service where the servers are inattentive and constantly apologize about things. Just try your best to do things right the first time… From the moment we sat down to our meal on a Monday evening (party of 4), service moved at a snail’s pace. This is the only restaurant where I’ve seen multiple servers running around, no one server waits on the tables surrounding yours, and yet it really seems like there’s only one server waiting on the entire room of customers because YOUR server disappears between the time they take your order and bring your check. The food itself is nothing spectacular, but anything fried is hard to complain about. That must be why people keep coming back. Their fried food is hard to not like. It just would be nice to have an enjoyable experience for the money you’re spending.

I am happy to report that my dinner was OKay. Service was medium. Not fast, not too slow. Food was pretty good.
I’ll try this place again, but I really wonder if it will continue to draw crowds once the newness wears off,

Service was horrible, food orders came out wrong repeatedly, wait staff and management unattentive should I continue… Needless to say my family won’t patronize this place again

We stopped in for a quick food stop on the way home from a road trip, the food isn’t amazing, but the service was amazing.
Justin was our server and he was awesome, I work in service industry in Chicago so I can tell when a server knows what they are doing and Justin is fantastic. Drinks refills were given before our drinks were empty, he read back our orders to make sure they were right, and always checked to make sure we were okay. I really hope he saw the additional tip on the table. If you go to this location I suggest requesting him!

We stopped in on the way out of town for lunch and we’re able to split the Buffalo wrap and onion rings with plenty of onion rings left over. We sat at the bar and Misty and the other girl working with her behind the bar on mother’s day lunch (totally forgot her name) were really helpful and nice. I wish we had one of these down in Destin, FL!

Went here on a Monday night with a few friends. Despite the parking lot being full, we were seating within a few minutes. The décor and atmosphere are very relaxing. The rock the stone and mood lighting like nobody else. The service and food were carried out without a hitch. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
I ordered the Key West Chicken and Shrimp with broccoli and mashed potatoes. It was what I like to call «stupid good.» Man, was it good! This was my second time here within a few weeks.
Roomy, great food, awesome ambience. Overall, a really cool place!

In light of the other reviews, I do find it necessary to note that at the time I am writing this, this Cheddar’s location has been open for literally 2 weeks. There is a mish-​mash of new, local workers and the more seasoned corporate team. It will be a totally different place in 2 months’ time. Terre Haute continues to be chain food hell, but it’s nice to occasionally get a new option, at least.
We had no issues with our visit. We have been to other locations and the experience was essentially the same (although our servers were over-​the-​top fantastic in Clearwater). There was about a 10 minute wait to get a table, which was accurately quoted to us. Our orders were taken quickly. I ordered chicken tortilla soup and a pasta dish and my boyfriend had a burger. The soup came quickly and while I love chicken tortilla soup, this rendition is not my favorite — too chunky, with very little chicken. I’ve had the pasta before at other locations and it was consistent. The burger and fries were fine as well. Portions are huge, as usual, and everything was timely.
The only downsides we experienced were all owed to the newness of the place. SUPER crowded, both with patrons and workers, which made it very loud inside and also difficult to navigate. The walkways seem very narrow what with all the traffic. But I do expect in 2 months’ time this location will be consistent with the rest, and we will surely be back when the crowd dies down.

My chicken pot pie tasted fake… The chicken was so tender that it didn’t taste like chicken anymore. We waited for half an hour until someone took our drinks order. My friend got the sides she didn’t even order. I tried her grilled catfish and it was just burned and disgusting. The waitress looked confused most of the time and had to come back and reconfirm what we ordered three times.
The salad and croissant I got were delicious though. And that’s about the only good thing I had.

Great front-​of-​house staff. Kitchen still has some kinks to work out as new restaurant. Took 20 min for soup, and it only beat main course by 1 minute. Overcooked burger. But again, new place and busy… so some glitches expected.
Clean restaurant; nice atmosphere for casual dining.
