What’s up with all the negative reviews here?!? Our nice server(a blonde woman who claimed she was 44 looking all of 29) was extremely nice, friendly, and informative. Turley makes some of the best Zin anywhere. I liked their tasting room and nearby gardens. Very reasonable tasting fee($ 10). Yes, they’d like for you to purchase two bottles to waive the tasting fee, but it’s not exactly like the tasting fee is excessive(to comment on other reviews here).

We had an excellent experience at Turley. Our server(I cannot remember her name but she also said she worked in social work) was the best wine educator I have ever had. She had rock samples to explain the different tastes in the wines. The Zinfandels were all excellent. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely experience.

I must say my wine tasting experience here was tainted by the pretentious woman who served me. Never have I felt so unwelcome at a winery in my life. I had high hopes considering my good friend had recommended this place. However, both the wine and the experience were very disappointing. So much so that I decided to skip the rest of the wineries I had planned to see that day and go back home. I am a big fan of zins too! I had mentioned to the woman doing the tasting that I was in town looking for locations to have a bridal party come for a tasting. Having seen a group enjoying lunch outside and a charter limo van in the parking lot along with a sign that says groups of 8 or more call for a reservation. I’m not sure if it was the fact that I mentioned that I was from oakland that created her distaste in me but she clearly did not want me to return with my friends. She even told me that the could only do a tasting for up to 4 people, when there was clearly a group of 6(which she even stated) at the picnic table having a tasting outside. When I asked her about them she said«well it’s a small group of 6.» $ 10 tasting fee waived if you buy two bottles. 4 wine tasted

Great Zin house. Some of the oldest vines in the valley. Prices were reasonable, and the service was ok. Wines were great, staff was nice and knowledgable. Kids were welcome.

Stopped by Turley Wineries because it was one of the wineries that was suggested to us by some good friends. We were heading to Cambria after our last stop to Turley. We met with Meg whom was just fabulous! She explained all the wines and the wonderful stories behind each wine and where the wines came from. Very pleasant and made you feel extremely welcomed. This was by far the best winery that we visited. They had the best zinfandels that we have ever tasted. If you like zinfandels seriously try this place. And Turkey was just beautiful and very clean. We just had a wonderful time. If you stop in ask for Meg. She was awesome! Thanks Meg!

If you enjoy Zinfandel, this needs to be on your list. The Zins are extraordinary, but a bit pricey. The tasting room staff is amazing. They truly take time with tasters to make this an intimate experience. They were also accommodating in many ways.

Friendly knowledgable staff and excellent zinfandel what more could you ask for. Well the patio is perfect for a picnic. I highly recommend the focused tasting, you not only get the top tier wines, but lots of good information. If available ask for Tracie, Steve or Malani. Cheers!

Whenever I go to Paso Robles more than anything else I’m looking for a good time. Truth be told I don’t know a lot about wines but I know a lot of people who do! One of them actually just started making her own she went to Paso last year and bought $ 1500 worth of grapes to experiment with and make her own wine, and per this enthusiast Turley is thee spot to go to for a good Zin. I may be wrong but I think I tasted a bottle made with grapes on the property? But I know that they mostly buy grapes from other wineries around the area. Most notably Dusi, which from what I hear has the very best zin grapes in Paso but they also acquire grapes from some of the oldest vineyards around. Hiro and I did both of their tastings. A $ 10 tasting of five or so wines and then an extra $ 5 for their premiums. Since we only went to 2 wineries this day and because it’s so highly praised in the wine community, I would say it’s worth it to taste from both. We went home with one of the bottles from their premium list, a Zin from Pesenti Vineyard, which has been around since 1920! I didn’t think we were going to buy anything here because the bottles are definitely more on the pricier side but this Zin was like nothing I’ve tasted before. The soil at Pesenti is limestone so there’s a lot more minerals in the ground that add distinct little nuances into the wine, most prominent being white pepper! I loved that lil’ spicy kick and it was also very full bodied, another characteristic that you’ll get when the grapes are from an older seasoned winery. So I was like well we might as well invest and bring this home for a special occasion. Especially since I overheard people earlier talking about how bottles for the next couple of years are going to suffer in taste and quality because of the drought. And who knows what’s going to happen with El Nino. I know El Nino means rain but it could also mean land slides so anyway seemed like a good idea to purchase a bottle we really liked lol. All in all, for someone like me who’s kind of basic when it comes to wines hahaha this place isn’t a super must but that being said even I could appreciate the uniqueness of these wines. The ladies who were pouring were all really nice. They served some awesome rosemary crackers and syrah cheese. With the tastings you get a free wine glass, which isn’t great incentive bc those things ALWAYSALWAYS break. Idk if I’m just super hard on my glasses but they never last long, they always always shatter! Also, I’m a red drinker and the bowl of the glass doesn’t aerate as well so I was really happy when we were given the option of trading out our glass for a water bottle! Stainless steal, insulating and already had cold water in it! Lol perfect bc it was a scorching hot day. They also have a lot of cute knickknacks for sale, like purses made out of corks and they are dog friendly! There was four four legged cuties up in there which I love! So yeah if you like Zin’s this is your place. If you’re looking for wines that have a lot of character that come from vineyards who have stories behind their names, I would come here. If you want to party and have a good time I’d probably go somewhere else as its a bit more quiet and I feel like the people behind the counter are more serious but that’s because their wine is seriously good lol. When I develop a more sensitive palate I would be more enthused to come back but until then I’m fine with the free tastings at Tobin James lol

Beautiful Vineyard and Kathy our host was simply amazing! We visited the Turley Amador location last Saturday and Allison was great, but our visit to the Paso Cellars was truly amazing. Kathy had so much knowledge on each vineyard, families, winemakers, varietals, just simply a wealth of knowledge. My father owns a vineyard in Paso and he also was truly impressed by her expertise. I highly recommend that if you are in the area that you stop by and try their Zin!

Wonderful producers of Zinfandel wine. This cult juice is highly coveted by those that appreciate good wine. The wait list to purchase direct is 1 year. You can however purchase at their tasting rooms at a lot less cost than those that sell their allocations in retail outlets. Turley wines are big bombs of fruit and tend to age well. These are our favorite Zins.

Their Zinfandel pairs well with food. The grapes here are both cultish and commonplace. Zinfandel is king here

Nice selection of Zins. Wasn’t quite what I was looking for in a Zin. I prefer Zins from the Dry Creek region such as Talty or Dutcher Crossing. Even the two zins at Thacher just up Vineyard Road were better tasting and better price point. For the $ 10 fee you get a glass. For buying two bottles(approx $ 80 – 90) the $ 10 fee is waived but no glass is given. Sound cheap. Did to us as well. Paid the $ 10 and got the glass. Nice glass.

Great wines — some of the best reds we tasted on our trip(okay, we only visited four wineries!) — but we were in and out of the tasting room within ten minutes. Server was very cursory — no warmth or charm. Her colleague was much nicer but rushed off her feet. We bought two pricey bottles nonetheless, but we won’t be back!

I was introduced to Turley Zinfandels by our good friend Tim. It’s still not a wine that I buy regularly since they can be quite expensive. I was privy to an amazing $ 100.00 bottle of Turley Zinfandel because Tim is generous with sharing his wine. That would be out of my comfort zone. Maybe for a special occasion? This was our first tasting of the day… nothing like starting at the top. It was $ 10.00 for a tasting so only a couple of us in the group decided to try it. I knew I’d be walking out with a couple of bottles so I didn’t care about the fee since it would be waived any way. My favorites were the 2012 Paso Robles Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard &2012 California Zinfandel Old Vines. Our server was friendly and explained the wines and the regions they came from in detail. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back.

So we joined the Turley wine club, if you can call it a club. It’s an allocation system. You get an email twice per year with a list of wines and the number you can purchase(you can request additional, but they are not guaranteed). It is my understanding you must purchase at least one bottle from each mailing to remain on the list. Here are my recommendations, which may or may not be available in the tasting room. Dusi Presenti Ueberroth Mead Ranch Atlas Peak Cobb Vineyard Amador — just tried this for the first time, at $ 26 it’s a bargin Juvenile– at $ 20 an excellent bargin Also, the tasting room occasionally has a blend they make called Tecolote which my wife and I both like. I should also point out that«club membership» does not include free tastings.

Everyone will tell you that Turley is the place to go to taste Zins. and if you are in Paso, you are probably there to try Zins. I’m more of a Pinot gal, but I can appreciate the good Zins that they have here. In addition to buying a couple of bottles, we even ordered a bottle of Turley at dinner the night that we tasted there in the day. With every paid tasting you get to keep the glass(if you get the tasting fee waived for a bottle purchase you don’t get the free glass).

I originally encountered Turley Zins at the Pamplemousse Grill in Del Mar and later was reminded of them at the Gramercy Tavern in NYC. Turley makes many excellent Zins, but it’s often difficult to remember exactly which is my favorite(they all have similar labels, some with icons next to the Turley graphic to indicate which they are). I visited the tasting room in April and Dec of this year. On my second visit, I was able to mark off a copy of the tasting sheet to narrow it down… and bring a bottle home. Tasting room staff is very gracious, and provided a small cheese plate to pair with the tasting. They let me bring my dog in too. Highly recommended(and Ava-approved) stop in Paso!

Turley makes phenomenal zinfandel. The tasting room has been built using all recycled materials and is lovely. Our wine server was personable, knowledgeable, and fun, making our tasting experience first class. Make sure to stop in to taste and bring home bottles of zinfandel that are complex, rich, and diverse.

One of my local favorites! There is a certain quality that I always associate with a Turley Zinfandel. No matter what vintage or property the wine comes from, it’s going to be enjoyable. The Templeton tasting room is absolutely gorgeous and always seems to have a friendly buzz about it. It really is a must visit when you’re in the area. I personally recommend the Cinsault that is served somewhat chilled and currently being poured. It’s a great wine to beat the Summer heat.

After a rather unimpressive first impression of Paso Robles at our previous stop, our 2nd stop here at Turley succeeded to improve my lackluster mood. Upon seeing their fountain and stone walkways, I already eagerly anticipated what was ahead as we approached the tasting room from the parking lot; then, immediately upon walking through the pretty wood-and-glass door, I felt excited. The tasting room was spacious, warm, and inviting. We were greeted soon after approaching their counter. The person assigned to us was mature, friendly, knowledgeable, approachable-and-unassuming, and didn’t make us feel the least bit rushed. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the smooth-and-delicious Zinfandels we tasted — and appreciated the couple of tastings above those included in our flight list! What an added treat to be offered a small plate of tasty cheeses and rosemary crackers to accompany our wine samples; we’ve since regularly purchased the cheeses and rosemary crackers when we visit Trader Joe’s. I enjoyed browsing through the few gift-y items offered, too. Great wines, great experience!
