This is the best bakery in the US. The two items listed below are my favorites. 1. Praline Ghaetto Cake — Frosting is raspberry buttercream 2. Petit Four’s.

One of many things a specialized bakery should be known for is — their cakes should be better than cakes you can get at HEB. Not in this case. The«chocolate» sheet cake with white icing was nothing special. In fact it barely looked like a chocolate cake and certainly didn’t taste like it had any real chocolate in it. The design was nice but I expect a cake from a bakery to be extraordinary. I’m guessing the people that rate it 4 – 5 stars just haven’t experienced great bakeries like they have in Austin.

Love this bakery! Ye Olde has been a staple in my family my whole life. We have always had our birthday cakes made here. I recently moved back from Oklahoma and had to have a birthday cake from here of course! The sandwiches are amazing as well! I’ve also always loved the thumb print cookies! Thanks for always doing an amazing job! Can’t wait till its cake time again, will definitely be placing an order!

I still come back for the date chewies bc they’re my favorite. The bakery portion is lovely and most of their baked goods are delicious. I tried their lunch special… the executive. I left with the thought, «I can’t believe I paid $ 9 for that sh*t.» It’s not that it tasted terrible but not worth my money. The plate was sloppy. It was a weak portion of turkey with some lettuce and tomatoes and way too much mustard. It came with some oily Ruffles potato chips, a pickle, orange slices and a tiny brownie. The brownie was frosted and overly sweet. I couldn’t finish it.

My husband was at a meeting in Temple on his birthday so I looked up local bakeries and found this place. Never been there, but they did an outstanding job on the cake via email and telephone conversation and delivered it to the meeting sight! It was perfect, and I heard it was good. Next time I’m in town I will try out the Deli!

I’m not sure why these other people were complaining about the sandwiches and such. My wife and I went today for lunch and we both loved it. My wife got the chicken salad on a croissant and she loved it. I had a bite and I agree. It tasted homemade and fresh. I got the Reuben and s bowl of their taco soup. Neither of which disappointed. Everything was made to order, was fresh and tasted great. I will definitely be going back to try their sweets.

The lemon chess pie made the perfect end to our Thanksgiving dinner. A soft, smooth, almost jello-y texture, and creamy flavor. It’s no wonder this is one of my favorite places to enjoy.

Do not want to go back after buying today. Not like it was under the original owners. Small amount of baked goods to pick from. Out of luncheon meat then when received second choice, salty as sin on the sandwich. I will not go back, was in Temple area and tried it out for old time sake but not again, it isn’t worth it. Plus the girl who was waiting on me should be told to speak up when talking to cust.

Great turkey sandwiches! The bread is soft and warm and the turkey is fresh. No comparison compared to all those regular sandwich shops.

Went here with my fiancé. We got some cookies and cupcakes and we will be returning. Everyone was very patient with us as we tried to decide what we wanted. We ended up going with a 2 lemon zest, red velvet, and oreo cupcakes along with chocolate chip and m&m cookies. They were delcious! And we payed a fair amount for them.

Words are enough to describe how utterly peeved I am at this place. We’ve gone here for our bakery items my entire life and have never been treated this way. I paid almost $ 50 for a tiny custom birthday cake for a 7 year old girl. The theme was suppose to be princess/ballerina/etc. Although I asked for Italian cream cake as the base, this bakery failed to disclose to me that they use a liquor for this cake and it is not suitable for children. Not every Italian cream cake is like this, in fact most aren’t and there are no descriptions on their website for me to have been aware of this. I also asked for strawberry icing. The cake came with white. And almost zero decorations besides«happy birthday _____» and a couple plastic ballerinas. I could have gotten a more custom cake from Walmart for half the price. All I got from the manager was an «oh well. It’s not our fault or job to tell you.» I wasn’t throwing a fit that the cake was chocolate and not vanilla. I’m angry that they didn’t disclose alcohol was going to be used in a cake intended for children!!! Also, since the manager seems to think I’m stupid, yes I do know that alcohol content bakes out and that children won’t end up drunk consuming the cake. Last time I checked children don’t enjoy the TASTE of alcohol infused baked goods. That is my point.

For dessert only I am giving them 4 stars: everything sweet I have had from them has been good. I knocked off the last star for the food – it was extremely ordinary and not worth the price we paid for it. So order your cakes and other sweet treats from them but eat lunch elsewhere.

Disappointed to eat-in and get cold food in a box. This is off my breakfast list of places to go.

Love this place and here is why: Bakery: Oh yeah, amazing cakes, pies, breads. They have made 3 of the most amazing cakes I have seen/eaten in person. Give them your vision and they will make it happen. Staff is attentive and friendly and they get your order right the first time. We have never had to get anything corrected. Highly recommend them for special occasions… or any occasion for that matter. Sandwich shop: Good food… an, oh yeah, they have their own bakery. Very clean. You can gain a pound or two just going in and smelling the goodies.

It’s very rare that a bakery makes it’s own French and Danish pastries today this place makes them both and very well, there breads are also made fresh each day and to complement them they have such wonderful sandwiches. Don’t forget to try there desserts omg to many too talk about

FYI: the hours listed are not correct. The hours on their front door are: Mon-Fri: 7:00am-5:30pm Sat: 7:00am-4:00pm Deli Hours: 10:00 — 4:00pm We tried calling before driving over but the phone picked up and hung right back up. As we were nearby we figured we’d just drive over because the hours listed on Unilocal say they are open till 7:30pm(we were looking for coconut crème pie for our anniversary). I’ll change my star rating if we ever get over to try some pies.

Most delicious kolaches and I also had an Eccles cake, which was a perfect mix of sweet and crunchy with a bit of tart from the date. Very good prices, also.

I got the roast beef with cheddar on the fresh French bread — it was amazing. Especially good with horseradish. The prices are great and the servings are huge. I can’t wait to try them all. We ordered from work and they delivered so i haven’t been to the shop.

Highly recommended. The menu has plenty of sandwich combinations and the glass case is full of cookies, cupcakes and baked goods. Service to your table is quick, even during the lunch rush. Try the potato soup!

Wow — this place is a nice, small, qaint delicatessen. I have eaten their bakery goods before, but today I decided to check out their deli for lunch, and I was quite delighted. There are so many goodies here, I think I would be in big trouble if I lived nearby. Their cakes and pies look so decadent, and if those are too large then they have cupcake versions for you that go for $ 1.25. Damn, now when’s the last time I had a good cupcake for $ 1.25?!? They’re nearly triple the price in Austin(does butter and flower cost more? Rent does), so this place rocks when it comes for bang for the buck. They offer several sandwiches, there’s a special everyday, a different soup as well. You can choose from any type of bread you’d like, today I got the Special Sandwich on a french roll(pastrami, salami, ham). They said their Chicken Salad is popular, they also have smoked turkey, pastrami, corned beef, ruben, and salads too. I also picked up some Pineapple Salsa and Black Bean + Corn Salsa to go, they look really good but haven’t dove into any of those just yet, but the Red Velvet and Italian Cream Cupcakes are really good here — — I do recommend. Next time I’m going for the Oreo Cupcake and maybe the mini Lemon Meringue Pie? Yeah — like I said — I would be in trouble if I lived next to these guys. The customer service here was spot-on, really nice and friendly, they take your order, you take a seat, they walk the food out to your table. The layout could be improved, but I just think they are baking so many goodies that they’re running out of room. Such a great variety and assortment, I think I found my new lunch deli and hangout spot! YEEEHAW!
