Pretty decent place. Have ordered a few times and I must say their crispy crust is more like a chip. Way over done. However, the original crust is pretty good. Friendly staff a bit over priced compared to other pizza places.

Two whole stars to the team at Howies only for delivering hot pizza on a snowstormy day to a bunch of people stranded off SR58. A lot of us had the misfortune of getting snowed in and not being able to continue with our journeys back home because of major snow storm problems in the Central valley(who would’ve thought that it would snow literally 15 mins away from Bakersfield!). The husband and I ended up pulling into and checking into a La Quinta off CA58 because our car started to lose traction on the road and we wee hesitant to drive any further. This also meant that we were going to need food and most local restaurants were refusing to deliver because of the weather. Howies was the only pizza joint that was still delivering, not only to us, but to many families that had checked into La Quinta. Yes, it’s a risk to their lives, but kudos to you guys for risking it! The pizza itself was decent. The crust was very much like what Pizza Hut or Dominos would serve. The toppings were fresh and the sauce decent. We also ordered garlic breadsticks, which is also similar to Pizza Hut or Dominos, in that, it’s another pizza cut up into many pieces for the ease of sharing. Price wise, I would say it’s on the cheaper side. But we do pay a premium for a decent pizza in the Bay Area :) Overall, not bad at all.

When I mentioned to a co-worker of mine that I would be traveling to this area she suggested that I should stop here for pizza. I was intrigued after hearing that they had flavored crusts so when my husband said that we should stop and pick up a pizza I was super excited. We picked up a pepperoni with garlic & herb crust as well as a works pizza on asiago cheese crust. I can’t speak for the works pizza but the pepperoni pizza was good, a little greasy but it’s pizza. I was surprised to discover how much better the pizza was the next day.

Pretty dang tasty pizza. It can be greasy, especially certain flavored crusts, but you don’t eat pizza for the nuanced presentation or well balanced nutritional content… you eat it because damn that’s delicious. You just can’t go wrong with the bbq chicken one. Salads are on par with what a pizza joint should serve, not spectacular, but definitely fresh. I did see the wait staff sort of passively serve two folks that were staring at their phones, but I stepped up next, put away my phone smiled and made eye contact, and low and behold, the kid was super helpful and all smiles too… go figure.

If you do decide to eat at this location be sure NOT to send your child with a 100 for a 40 dollar order. They will send them away to go find smaller bills. Call the manager and she hung up on me while asking if they were worried about counterfeit bills they should have a better company policy than to turn away customers. Terrible customer service!!!

I ordered $ 104 in pizza and extras. I asked for some paper plates with my order and was told rudely they do not provide paper plates to carry out customers, Only dine in. They then told me i can pay for them. So they charged me .05 for each plate. Mind you these where the cheapest paper plates you can buy. You can buy 100 for a $ 1 at the dollar tree. I was mad about the plates I didn’t even look at my order. Got home and found it was over cooked by ALOT! I order pizza every weekend from this location. And this order over $ 100! They charged me for 10 paper plates? So yes the girl manager charged me for the plates. I hope she as the manager can see how loyal this customer was. Not anymore!

I am from New York where pizza is by far the best out there, and had yet to find something as good as what I got there… until I came across Hungry Howies. Compared to Dominoes or Pizza hut, they dont slap on an entire jar of pizza sauce and rather make it even. They dont charge you your entire wallet’s worth just for more toppings and actually have good deals unlike the competition. I have ordered a few times from them now and have been satisfied every time; I love being able to add what I want to a good deal and only paying $ 15 – 20 for the base deal price. I also dont get sick after eating their pizza, and have gotten sick from both Dominoes and Pizza Hut nearby; the quality of the pizza is almost always exactly what was ordered with a few very minor mishaps but forgivable ones, and the drivers being a little late on how long it was supposed to take to drive to our apartment. Overall and great place to get pizza.

I want to let you know I am very Disappointed with my order. and if I would have not been in the bathroom when it arrived I would have sent it back. However my son did not check it before accepting it from your driver. that will never happen again. 1st. the xl large was over cooked to well done just starting to burn and I ordered it Normal 2nd. the free 1(and I guess you get what you pay for) was a thin crust however I did not order thin(but I do see that is what was on the receipt), Bt it was burnt and was more like a tortiea chip then a pizza(understand why it was free) not happy with order all around, and most likely will go to one of the other many Pizza places in town next time. truly a waist of $ 20.00 but then kids will eat anything, Kevn Horton

This pizza is crazy good. Their flavored crust is a definite homerun. Their service is friendly, their prices are incredibly reasonable, and the quality is great! I’d grab pizza from here when I was working in Tehachapi, and I miss not being able to anymore! :( Try their specialty pizzas and the Howie bread. So, SO good. They might just deserve five stars. If this is edited, know it’s worth it.

The pizza was subpar at best. we were just visiting the area and happened to see the store. The inward eating environment is not to be desired. There were no plates no silverware just a poor environment. The pizza itself was very greasy. I was hoping for a lot more. this is Steve justice signing off.

I was happy to find them open at 930. The pizza was really good I really liked the BBQ chicken pizza with BBQ crust. The all meat was great too. Service was friendly and nice. We will be back. Thanks so much

Based only on the service… called and asked for specials. Employee offered me what turned out to be an expired deal, and wouldn’t override and keep the price he originally quoted me, after I made a whole order based on said deal. Canceled the whole order. You guys lost my business for such a poor way of handling this customer service issue, which should have been a no-brainer easy fix.

The first time my husband ordered takeout from here, I was amazed. I’ve never had FLAVORED crust. With so many options. We ordered from here a lot and they’ve never dissapointed us.

Not the cheapest pizza you’ll find in town but it’s delicious! The flavored crust actually makes pizza crust enjoyable! Hungry Howie’s is always my first choice for pizza in Tehachapi.

Stumbled on this place on the drive back from Barstow to the Bay Area. A very humble takeout storefront hides a fresh-pizza-making crew of happy young folk. Try the thin crust. Tehachapi is better off for this joint. Prices are quite reasonable, to boot.

I called to order a pizza for take out and I had to call 3 times because the first time they picked up and hung up, 2nd she picked up and said«sorry I picked up the wrong phone» and hung up, 3rd I FINALLY got someone after 15 min. They said it would be ready in 15 min and I got there 25 min after the order. It wasn’t ready. This pizza taste just like Little Cesar’s only little Cesar’s pizza is way better priced. Not impressed.
