Big Papa’s Steakhouse & Saloon

We had a party of 10 and they accommodated us in minutes. The atmosphere was good with a variety of sports on the many flat screens they have. We were seated at a large table in the bar area, the noise level was not overbearing. The service was excellent, never let our glasses run dry. Appetizers were pretty good, bacon wrapped fresh jalapeños are a must if you choose to eat here. I ordered a porterhouse and it was cooked perfectly, full beef flavor not hidden by spices. Had the chocolate cake for desert and my only complaint was that it’s big enough for two! Second time eating here and was not disappointed either time. Good food, good atmosphere, good service.

We went and my Wife wanted to order the fried chicken on the menu, they didn’t have it and we were told they were ordering new menus. Why not just get a marker and cross it off in the meantime? Pretty simple solution.
I ordered a steak; the waitress came back 15 minutes later and said they were out. She gave me another option, I asked if this new option was a 10 oz, she said yes. After almost an hour of waiting, she came back with a small steak that was probably more like a 6 oz and wasn’t that good tasting anyway.
The waiters and waitresses were running around in a panic constantly and they kept having loud conversations with each other right next to our table.
My Wife hated her meal, I didn’t like mine, everything we wanted to order they were out of.
How does a restaurant run out of food? This is Tehachapi… not some major city where you get some huge unexpected crowd out of nowhere.
This place seems very under-​staffed and extremely mismanaged.
Go and read the restaurant’s responses to the negative reviews on their Facebook Page. It’s like a little kid who can’t spell and has a temper tantrum whenever someone leaves a poor review.
How stupid do you have to be to treat your customers like that on a public page that everyone can read?
I’d be shocked if this place stayed open much longer. Worst place to eat at in all of Tehachapi. Hands down.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. The barmaid was really friendly and made us feel welcome. We started with the mixed starter and shared it. For our main I had the RST medium rare and it was cooked well. My partner had the steakhouse burger and she really enjoyed it. The fries were outstanding.

Went last night for 80s night and after party for a close friend’s 40^th birthday. Super fun!!!

Not so good. A limited menu and most items were over $ 19. I had the RST burger and while the quality of the food was good, the flavored just didn’t mix. It was to many mushy things on a pretzel bun so picking it up was out of the question. Cutting it up made a mess. My wife got the sweet and sour chicken which was a Costco style chicken patty dipped in sauce and grilled. Just okay. Don’t think I’ll be back soon.
