Pro: excellent service; reasonable prices. Con: presentation of the food is really awful; veggie steak was the worse! Looking and colorless piece of flat looking like steak but it is veggie. Never go here again.

I am obsessed with this place. Veggie Heaven is definitely my favorite vegan restaurant in the area. I usually order either the curry chicken noodle soup or wanton soup for the main course and then a slice of cheesecake for desert!

I first visited the new city location and am terribly upset that it closed. We love this place so much that we traveled 45 mins from Ny to eat here with out vegan friends. The concept and idea of this place and how they so skillfully prepare each dish is just so amazing. I will list each dish I’ve tried and tell you how amazing they are. The buffalo drum sticks are so good. Like ginger lick’n good… They’re a must have. Steamed spinach dumplings are heavenly. The Singapore is cooked to perfection, not too much curry, I like to add the duck sauce on top for more flavor. Sesame chicken with broccoli is literally as good as getting it from your local Chinese place, Doesn’t even feel like it’s tofu. And the fried tofu cubes were the bomb, they come on a sizzling plate. Now desert, get the cheesecake, any flavor ice cream(my fav was the butter pecan) and end it with a passion fruit bubble tea. You leave here not feeling«full and sleepy» but feeling satisfied and energized. You really are what you eat. Keep up the great work veggie heaven!

I have been coming here on/off since I was 16… so 15 years! I have never been disappointed! I haven’t been here in a while and was able to get down there last night and it’s still just as amazing as I remember. My favorite is the Sesame Chicken! I also got steamed dumplings, cold noodles with sesame sauce, spring rolls, salmon roll & the tofu vanilla almond bark ice cream. AMAZING! I cannot wait to go back(too bad the one in New City closed because Teaneck is about 35 min away but totally worth it!)

All vegan restaurant! Looooove everything here! Been here several times, at times even with my carnivore friends and they can’t believe they aren’t eating meat lol. My favorite spicy dish is the Bang Bang Chicken & Beef, but make sure you ask that the beef be the mushroom beef. It’s so delish!!! They are a bit heavy-handed when it comes to the sauces so you may want to ask them to go light. They always put free Jasmine tea & fermented cabbage on the table — both very yummy! The only small complaint that I have is that all of the cakes & cupcakes I’ve tried(and I’ve tried most of them) were all too cold & either on the stale side or just too hard(they keep all of them in a refrigerator). The staff isn’t too friendly but there’s one waiter who is very nice. Highly recommend Veggie Heaven!

The wonton soup is a delight and the free appetizer that they have in the beginning with the tea is really very good.

First Vegan restaurant I have been to and I actually liked it. The food was good and the service was alright. I had the sweet and sour chicken with brown rice and I couldn’t finish the meal(yes, my dish was very close to tasting like chicken.) lol. I really liked the fact that they labeled what was gluten free and what wasn’t. Made my choices a lot easier since I try to stay away from gluten products. They have many choices on their menu so the odds of finding something that catches your attention are very high. It is a spacious restaurant, however, i recommend going with time because even though there was a constant flow of people entering and leaving the restaurant, it seems that it could easily get filled quickly.

Trying(key word TRYING) to change my eating habit I decided to finally go to Veggie Heaven. They are always busy, the reviews are great, and the food always looked good. Long story short(to late)… the food was amazing and the best part is that it was all veggie based. As their placemats clearly state«all our dishes are prepared entirely with vegetables and vegetable derivatives. Our „meat“, „poultry“, and „seafood“ are made from ingenious blends if bean curd, taro root, wheat gluten, mushrooms, yams and other vegetables.» Try the spinach dumplings and the Indonesian Rendang Curry«chicken» and«beef» with black beans. It’s so good. Just make sure you wash it down with Thai Iced Tea. Yums!!!

Very tasty and fresh! I got the basil chicken and buffalo wings. I am not a vegetarian but had to try this place because of the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was great tasting. I will revisit!

Saw my friend Paul’s ROTD and decided to add my 2 cents. Veggie restaurants are divided into two distinct groups, those who proudly embrace their vegetarianism by creating things that amplify their veggie characteristics and those who elevate it to the point where taste, texture and quality rival their non veggie counterparts. The former create dishes that mimic meat and poultry dishes without using meat and poultry. Being a carnivore, this is this type of restaurant I prefer. The problem is that dishes are rarely what they pretend to be, viable and delicious alternatives of things the rest of us would likely order at another restaurant. Instead, they’re wilted, tasteless wannabees that we begrudgingly order because we’re biting the bullet to break bread with someone who’s an actual vegetarian on their home turf. Enter Veggie Heaven, a place which creates things so delicious that I can only assume a large contingent of their clientele are(gasp) not even vegetarians. The food is also fresh and unique. I love Veggie Heaven and invite my non veg friends to try it and love it. I would invite the others, my vegan and veg buddies to do the same but the chances of them not having tried it are basically null. Kudos.

Being a non– vegetarian, I consciously avoid vegetarian cuisines at restaurants. When my husband suggested this place to me, I literally got pissed off at the prospect of having vegan food as my experience with vegan food has revolved around tofu and I’m not a tofu fan. Much against my will, I paid a visit to this cozy little place in New Jersey. The food was surprisingly amazing! We started off with the spicy Hunan dumplings, and it tasted heavenly! I could even have the dumpling gravy alone. The entrees and dessert are pretty good as well. I wouldn’t rate the sushi highly, but that is only because I’ve had better sushi elsewhere. They also serve vegan chicken/seafood. I initially thought this would be a just another chewy manifestation of tofu. But lo and behold, this place proved me wrong once again. I tried their veggie shrimp entrée, and it looked and tasted like actual shrimp — everything from the orange stripes to the meat consistency. This is one place I can keep coming to! I’ve already been here twice. I highly recommend this place to vegetarians and non– vegetarians alike.

Going to university around here(FDU) for a long time now(years), I wanted vegetarian food which was both unique, and tasteful, but that unfortunately was very scarce in my hometown(8 miles away) and had a majority of generic fast food restaurants, pizza joints, or lackluster restaurants. Whenever I would leave with my family to eat somewhere, it’ll be the same result: Around 1⁄10th or less of the menu is vegetarian, and most places say that only a generic house salad is vegan(aside from generic veggie/black bean burgers), so it’s tough luck. Today, after a quiet day of school and the lot, I walked to scour what restaurants were breaking the norm that I was used to, and served at least ¼ vegetarian items. After 3 restaurants, I wanted to go home(far away) on an empty stomach, but I saw the exterior of this next restaurant, «Veggie Heaven». I was elated to hear that this was the place I wanted to go to. I held the door for a elderly lady, and along with saying thanks, she said«You’ll love the food here, enjoy yourself!» as she thought correctly that I had never been here, or had a proper vegetarian friendly meal before that wasn’t a generic house salad. Entering, the aura was familiar to a Chinese restaurant, with textures and friendly staff faces. I asked to be seated(just myself /), and when the waiter came back to my table after a minute rush, I was given a pot of herbal tea, and steamed vegetables on the house(I think cabbage and carrots). I was thinking«What, I’m being charged already!?» with a perplexed facial expression, but my waiter reassured me this was no cost. On a budget(I had enough money to either eat like a king, and potentially not go home, or eat minimal(first timer) and potentially order more at home), I paced myself to order something reasonable, and I ordered miso soup and tofu to start, and Szechuan style tofu as a meal, with white rice. It didn’t take long for my food to come out(I was eating alone, and also there was 5 other people on that side of the restaurant I was in), which surprised me, so I was greeted with my soup in the first two minutes after ordering(it’s soup after all!), and my main dish 4 minutes after. A bit larger than expected(was expecting maybe a bowl), but I was happy. The food was great, the Szechuan style of tofu, like most Szechuan cuisine, is known for its spiciness(and it sure didn’t fail!), and had beans, red pepper, and other things that made it different, complimented with white rice. The miso soup also was nice to eat/drink too, which I finished around the time I was finished eating. The vegetables that were provided at the beginning was not too bad, but I added the table’s lite soy sauce for an extra measure. I was almost full and wanted more to eat, but I still had to walk to the bus(far) to go home(further). Ready to pay, I was surprised that my food was at least 33% less than what I was thinking it would be(It was a little more than 10, I thought it would be close to 14.50), and received the typical fortune cookies when paying. I wanted to also get a good sweet tooth, so I ordered the vegan chocolate cake. I wanted to eat it at the restaurant, but I would’ve had too much, so I opted to take it home. Overall, the food was great, good complimentary tea and veggies, and I was happy to leave to take the bus to go home. I should’ve had something cold to drink though(tea+soup+meal =hot!) but there’s always next time!

This place is great! I have been dating a vegetarian turned vegan for four years and we finally discovered a place where she can eat nearly everything. Everything at this place is delicious and the service is fast and efficient. More than half of the time you won’t even realize you are eating meatless dishes– they are that close to the real thing! The spicy dumplings as an appetizer are incredible, and so far my favorite dish is the ta chien chicken with brown rice. I have yet to have a dish I disliked… Some definetly better than others but that’s ok! Warning– limited parking on a busy street. But there is a public 2 hour parking lot a few blocks down that always has open spots.

Haven’t been here in so long but decided to go here the other day with a few friends. Always good to switch up a meal without meat for a change. Veggie heaven just hits the spot sometimes. If you are a vegetarian or vegan there is a 99.9% chance you have already been to at least one of their locations in your lifetime. But carnivores have so many options they forget you can still get a decent meal without meat. You always get free tea here which I love. The dumpling soup was cute and scrumptious. The broth was especially rich in flavor. The vegetarian buffalo wings were moderately spicy and are just as good as their chicken counterparts. Scallion pancakes were the best I had in a while. I even decided to get a shot of wheat grass because, hey, everyone needs to detoxify themselves every now and then! It literally does taste like grass but I didn’t expect it to taste good. For the main event, I got the five flavor mock chicken dish. It had a nice sweet and spicy sauce and also had some other veggies in the mix with some rice on the side. Needless to say after all that I was full and still had leftovers! Like I said veggie heaven is great for everyone!

I must preface this review by saying that I’ve been a vegetarian since childhood. I used to get whiny at parties, student events, or formal gatherings if the only vegetarian option was a salad. Over time, I came to terms that tasty vegetarian options was simply not a priority for the mainstream and I relegated myself to making my own food or sticking with pizza or taco bell(sort of false, there are a lot of great vegetarian options in manhattan which I love, or at other places, but I’m trying to be dramatic. jeez). And then, Veggie heaven came along. It is precisely the sort of middle-stream vegetarian restaurant we need, if not deserve. It has an incredible lengthy and diverse menu — I am confident that even the most discerning of tastebuds –omnivore or herbivore — will leave satisfied. I enjoyed the hunan dumplings, which were out of this world. They were garlicky and savory and delicious, and super cheap — I was going to return to the restaurant later that evening and pick up three or four orders for a potluck holiday dinner my colleagues were hosting, but then opted for beer instead since I was running late. You know how it goes. I also tried the General Tso’s as per recommendation by my Unilocal comrades. It lived up to its reputation. I would get it again. But hey — have I mentioned the hunan dumplings? I did. I’m just trying to remind you they’re insanely good and you should definitely get them. I think these folks here have done an incredible job at providing us with a delightfully diverse menu of vegetarian options, and I’m really grateful for their efforts, their affordability, and their excellent food. As if all of the above was not enough, they were incredibly nice people.

This place has a HUGE menu. Their menu is so big that they have to give you two menus. That’s when you know. And the food is delicious. BUT this place does have a down side: the service is terrible. Most servers are okay, but one in particular I don’t get along with. Even though the service is can be iffy, I still come back because the food is that good. Definitely get something new everytime, get a fruit juice, and definitely get the ice cream!

One of my friends recently became a vegan, so we came here for dinner the other night. The entire menu is vegan, which is amazing. The restaurant is pretty large for the area, and quiet. We ordered the scallion pancakes and Indian samosa rolls as appetizers. The scallion pancakes were excellent. Crispy, but not greasy. The samosas came in an egg roll wrapper, which confused me until I noticed the menu did say roll. They were good, but I still prefer regular samosas. As an entrée, I had the crispy garlic chicken. The garlic sauce had a lot of garlic flavor, and the texture of the fake chicken was spot on. The only way you could tell it wasn’t real chicken would be the flavor, which was mostly hidden by the sauce anyway. I like that I had the option of brown rice too. For the hell of it, we tried the vegan cheesecake. I was fully prepared for it to suck, since it’s a cheesecake with no cheese or dairy in general. But it was surprisingly good. Except for the overly sweet strawberry syrup on top. Definitely come here for something different, get the regular cheesecake.
