Mortgage Apple Cake Bakery & Cafe

Located off Cedar Lane, this bakery is a must try for dessert lovers. I LOVE the Apple Mortgage Cake! Ms. Angela, the owner, is kind and friendly. For Thanksgiving she made a three layer Apple Mortgage Cake for me. To my surpruse, my family, who are not big dessert eaters, devoured the cake!

Today I finally had the time to go to Zoe’s from Teaneck for the first time, after trying to get there this summer and found it closed.
But wait this story has a terrific happy ending? Or should I say beginning. From a distance I saw a small chalkboard which told me that Zoe’s is finally open, but to my surprise when I went in with a friend of mine we found that the bakery is still there but Zoe’s is not.
In this place we found a bakery called Mortgage Apple Cakes. The owner Ms. Angela Logan greeted us warmly into her 35 day bakery. She quickly yet graciously let me know that Zoe’s was no more. Ms. Logan showed us some of her cakes and cupcakes, all looking good. She had at the time, her Mortgage Apple Cakes, I loved it. It was sweet, very moist, with the old fashion fabulous technique that would put a smile on anyone face, or was it the combination of her delicious cakes and seeing her face remembering how she learned how to make cakes from her grandmother. My friend got her gluten-​free Apple Pound cake, which was equally delicious and moist not as sweet treat. She let us taste a small sliver of the Apple rum upside down cake. We tasted it with our coffee and both found it to be so good that I brought a whole cake to take home. I will be returning soon for more great treats. The only bad thing is the store front holds only 3 to 4 tables to have your treats.
