The food is 5 stars. Our party of 4 ordered numerous small plates(Escargot, Grilled jumbo Shrimp, Lamb meatballs + Carrot Ginger soup), as well as 2 entrees(Roasted Chicken and the evening’s special Salmon in orange-coffee reduction(SOYUMMY!)). All were beautifully plated and absolutely, mouth-wateringly delicious! The décor is both elegant and warm & welcoming; it feels okay to be dressed casually(we saw patrons in jeans and t-shirts) but also to be dressed up for special occasions like the one we were celebrating. Love the long bench with back support pillows — very comfortable! I subtracted ½ star for the overly loud classic rock music. It should have been in the background but instead dominated the sounds in the restaurant making our waiter and one another difficult to hear. Lastly, I had to shave another ½ point for our waiter’s demeanor.(Apparently, we did not have the owner Greg that other Unilocalers have raved about.) Ours was informative but perceptibly impatient… There were a few moments where he seemed darned near pissed off, especially when we tried to order the soufflé too late in the meal for his liking.(Don’t do that! It takes 25 minutes to prepare! You’ve been warned!!!) It would have been better if he’d said«I’m sorry I can’t accommodate a soufflé at this point» instead. Still, he was quick to clear our plates and bring clean ones for each course, and his entrée suggestions were spot-on. Overall, this place is well worth a visit and in our case, a repeat visit soon.

FABULOUSINEVERYWAY!!! My husband surprised me and took me here for my birthday. We ordered a few dishes to share, each dish just kept getting better! They have a big intimate dining table for a group of 6 to 8 which we intend to book and go back with friends. Love it

It’s hard to tell from the somber interior that this wine bar is tucked into the corner of a Valley strip mall. The wine options were good(according to my friend) and the Einstok White Ale was very enjoyable. I wasn’t a fan of the Caprese pizza… never had a pizza with balsamic on top, and hopefully won’t in the future. Not a good mix in my opinion. Sat at the bar, had a birds eye view of entire restaurant-area, and could easily have a conversation(i.e. wasn’t too loud). The seated area looked a bit cramped, with tables within inches of each other, stacked along the back wall. My ideal wine bar has a more relaxed feel to it, but I guess beggars can’t be choosers in Tarzana.

Wow! Hidden gem! The pizza was great, deviled eggs were superb(and adorable), bruschetta was fantastic, and the wine was delicious. Service was great – super friendly and approachable, and very willing to talk in detail about the food and wine. Stay away! I want this one to myself…

Last night was my second time at this restaurant and I will be back for more. I would give the food four stars, the menu five stars, the service five stars and the design five stars. What a beautiful and enjoyable experience.

Great ambience, friendly servers and an AWESOME owner Greg. Greg was very sweet and super accommodating to our needs. The food was good: Seared scallops in cauliflower mousse– very delicious but extremely small portion. Escargot– Escargot was flavored very well however, the bread that accompanied the dish was way too hard and tough. Cedar plank salmon– well cooked, slightly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Seasoned vegetables were well seasoned and delicious. Trout–(the dinner special that night) The trout was cooked in a delicious sauce paired with seasoned vegetables. I enjoyed the taste of the dish HOWEVER, there were so many bones. Couldn’t take a bite without pulling out a piece of bone. Chocolate soufflé– very delicious. Great place for wine!

Went to this restaurants for more than 5 times and the most recent visit was on October. There was one time they prepared our dessert too early and served it while we were still eating. They felt sorry so they treated us another dessert and pull out the dessert we ordered from the check. The service is very good and they really listen to our needs and complaints. The food is good too. Especially the Chocolate Sufle. The warm mushroom salad is really delicious with that mustard seed dressing. The Penne with spicy Italian sausage is fresh, tasty and not too oily. Overall, it is a great restaurant with romantic atmosphere.

So glad my friends took me here… Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known that this little gem exists! Been welcomed by Joey, who guided us through their menu. Which definitely caters to both vegetarians and the meat lovers. I had the mushroom pizza and the Fig and blue Cheese Bruschetta. Delicious. The wine selection is beyond impressive. If you’re into superb wine, this is the place to come to. The place itself is spacious, clean, modern and warm. Very welcoming and fits intimate dates or even a large social gathering. Awesome classic rock to accompany the good vibes… One of the best spots in the valley. No doubt.

First time going here last night and to say I was surprised is an understatement. The server JB was amazing he was not only on point with service he was hysterical, he literally brought the table to roaring laughter within seconds of coming to our table. We tried several appetizers including spicy lamb meatballs, blue cheese and fig bruschetta with prosciutto, deviled eggs, and two different pizzas. All great! We moved on to the wedge salad next which was excellent as well. Duck Confit jambalaya was a top ten dish of all time. Highly recommend this place to everyone. If there was a downside it would only be the 25.00 corkage. It’s a wine bistro though so I guess they want you to drink theirs. I will be back soon!

Let’s be honest, when rating a valley wine bar we need to rate on a valley scale. This place is a solid 4. Would I recommend checking them out of you don’t live nearby? Probably not. If you do, you’re lucky to have a semi secluded escape in the neighborhood. We recently met up with friends who live a bit further out the 101 so this was a solid halfway meeting up for dinner and drinks option for us. I enjoyed the décor and lighting, gives the place a romantic aspect without feeling forced or tacky. Greg is very friendly which is always a plus when patronizing someone’s business. I adored the background on his staff and 100% give him kudos for his comment on changing the bar a bit to hire someone with a disability. This comment single handily spoke volumes on the person he is and the business he is running. I enjoyed my glass of red, although my first choice was unavailable. My warm spinach salad was delightful and my half order of ravioli was enjoyable as well. My boyfriend seemed to enjoy his chicken dinner and I had some of his fries with a side of yellow mustard. I nearly forgot that I had the chocolate soufflé so I’d say I’ve had better. The other dishes seemed to satisfactory satisfy my friend and his girlfriend. Crowd seemed to range in age — I won’t say it was«older» 40somethings because my bf laughs and thinks it’s funny that I think 40s(«I’m going to be 40?» «When?» «Someday» «In 8 years» — my fav quote from When Harry Met Sally) is old but it felt more like a middle age type place. Not exactly 20 somethings maybe not even 30somethings. Another observation: several people had gifts as though this may be the neighborhood«special occasion» restaurant wine bar. I’d likely return if invited but wouldn’t necessarily travel this much further down the 101 to wine and dine unless meeting our friends here. There is a large parking lot located in back off of the alley.

Unbelievable!!! That’s how I can describe Peasant Wine Bistro. The Food, the service, the décor, the whole night was just amazing! My friends and I came here to celebrate our friends Birthday, we called in advance and made reservations for a party of 18. When we arrived they were already prepared for us, they made extra room for us and just overall they seriously went all out for us. We ordered so much food from appetizers, drinks, entrees, desserts. I won’t list all but definitely on my top was the Cremini mushroom pizza, the beet salad and the chocolate soufflé cake. There were more items but unfortunately I didn’t get to taste all of them. I plan on coming back and trying more! Some of the great perks here is the service, service was so on point and the food came out quick and everything tasted so fresh. They even have a wine cellar for private dining very romantic and very unique. The décor was gorgeous, this place was dimmed low and the chandeliers were gorgeous. They have a bar area to sit at as well. This place is not as big as I expected it to be but I have to say it was perfect. It far exceeded everyone’s expectations. Looking forward to coming back, I would definitely recommend trying this place out. Greg and his staff were WONDERFUL!

I took my wife here for her birthday based on the Unilocal reviews, and it did not disappoint. The owner was vivacious and attentive, and the space was great. A bit hard to find tucked away behind the IHOP, but it was worth the effort to find! I had the«Running» entrée — two petit filets mignon with fries — and it was incredible. the meat was tender and flavorful, the sauce was delicious, and the fries were hands-down the best fries I’ve ever had in my life. And I’ve had my share of fries … My wife got the butternut squash ravioli, and we were both extremely impressed. The rosemary garnish was the perfect note to add to the dish. We ended with the chocolate soufflé, which I will never again order from any other restaurant, because it could never be this good. I usually find soufflé to be flavorless and dry, but this one was completely perfect. Moist and chocolatey. I can’t say enough about this dessert. tl;dr: the reviews are spot on and this place is well worth the visit.

Greg — super pro. Inviting, super friendly, confident, funny, and personable. I agree with many other Unilocalers, he is very cool. He, along with a hidden place with a great feel, is something to come to, relax, and enjoy either solo or with friends. It’s romantic enough for a great date, too. Yes, it almost is crankin’ on all cylinders. Let me explain further. 1. Ginga Kogen Beer($ 11, 4.0 stars) — a Japanese Hefeweizen. Cool and crisp, but I can’t say I enjoy it more than a true German or California version. Still, great a great find. 2. Warm Mushroom Salad($ 13, 4.5 stars) — beautifully presented like a flower, a warm mushroom salad over baby mixed greens, crispy pancetta, sunflower seeds, and mustard seed dressing. It underwhelmed a bit, not as delicious as it sounds, but the slivers of pancetta sent shivers over me. 3. Grilled Jumbo Shrimp($ 16, 3.5 stars) — over applewood-smoked bacon, fresh tomatoes, basil, parsley, scallions and garlic. Sounds great! Execution and portion, poor. 3 large shrimp(not jumbo), in a pool of the tomato-creamy mixture(like soup), and shrimp had the tails on. For $ 16, no thank you next time. For $ 19, you can get 24 large shrimp in a tremendous sauce at Killer Shrimp. 4. Mushroom Pizza($ 17, 3.5 stars) — topped with great ingredients including arugula for color and texture, but light on the«stuff». I didn’t like the medium crust, crispy on the bottom yet soft dough throughout. Wouldn’t order again. In summary, it’s a great place. Small bites, I would do. Wine, most definitely. Hang out, hell yes.

Very friendly owner(Greg), cozy atmosphere with interesting history behind all the artwork, delicious food, and easy parking. Great neighborhood hangout. I’ve been here a few times with friends and most recently with a large networking group. I recently had the salmon miso which was amazing and the half chicken which was succulent. The owner is great at explaining the menu and recommending good pairings for wine. The parking lot looks small in front, but there is a huge lot in the back.

The food was a three to 3.5 stars. The mussels were awesome with the creamy dijon they were sitting in. The bread that came out with the nice, hard butter was great. The warm mushroom salad was good but could’ve been better. The lamb meatballs… not so much. The salmon with a honey glaze and veggies… standard but very good. The food was not stellar but totally acceptable. BUT… look where you are. There is a dearth of decent places to eat in this area of the valley and, man, this place is really trying. The«space» is not breathtaking and the clientele did not help. I don’t mean to sound snobby but when half the people in a place are wearing a t-shirt with some sort of printing on it… you lose something. This place has a nice menu and a great wine list and, for some hole in the wall behind an IHOP, they are really trying hard to come up with some sort of sophisticated westside vibe… and almost pull it off. If I come back, it will be because the waiter and staff were great. Example… I asked for a glass of Cabernet(indicating that he could make the call regarding which Cabernet) and he came over and pointed out that, while he really liked this«big cab», he wanted to make sure I knew that it was $ 18 for a glass. Anyway, the place would have had a better vibe if it was more crowded… and it should be more crowded. You should come check it out.

I could not imagine this type of place in tarzana. Greg who is the owner treated us like family. Such a super passionate guy. He made excellent suggestions and then he went above and beyond. Brought out his favorite wine. Brought out anejo tequila for us to sip on. Service wasn’t rushed, we felt comfortable just hanging out. Very much a European experience. We ordered a cheese and meat board that went excellent with the wine. Combine that with the atmosphere you can just sit relax and converse. For the entrée I had the special ribs. Excellent! The sauce was exactly like he described. A little sweet, then a little spice and finishes with a zesty zing. Loved it. My wife had the seafood pasta also excellent. But ultimately the thing that sealed the deal was the chocolate soufflé. It was the best I’ve had since mustache café back in the day. I feel like I hit the jackpot. And it’s all down the street from my house.

Although I’ve only been here twice, I truly enjoy the ambiance and food. The service is on point and I look forward to visiting again soon. I was introduced to this place by Maro’s beauty salon next door. THIS is my type of restaurant and atmosphere. The cheese platter is THEBOMB!
