Best BBQ in Tarpon. George serves up tender brisket, and flavorful pork. Small, cozy environment and the proprietor is usually on hand to strike up a great conversation while you chow down. Personally, I like to substitute the pork for brisket on my Q Dog when I can and top it with some sweet sauce. Combined with the locally baked rolls they serve up now, this gives you a great combination.

Great food. I had a Qdawg as per a recommendation. It was great! My wife had pulled pork and she liked it as well. When you walk up to the door you are greeted by a wonderful smell of smoke meat. I believe the owner was the one who took our order and was extremely nice and helpful to everyone who came in. Nice little place and will be going back again!

Very very good! Had the signature q dog which is a good all in one to represent all their styles in one meal. So excellent, and gone before I got a picture! I also had their new offering Brunswick stew which contains all of their smoked meats in one stew. I have been missing really good Brunswick stew since Larry’s real pit BBQ left pinellas… I have now found a worth replacement! Also worth mentioning that the health Inspector was here when we came in, passed them with flying colors and also ate his lunch here(that’s not normal)! Can’t say enough good things and I will be back for more goodness!

Very bad food. Owner is a real jackass. Don’t go there. I’ve gotten food poisoning there twice and saw roaches on the floor. The barbecue I’ve had is tough chewy and way too sweet

Stopped here while out running errands with my Dad. I’m presuming we spoke with the owner who was very friendly & helpful with the menu. Great dogs for a great price! We’ll be back!

I am a new employee to a business near Q dogs and to my surprise my car was towed. i live nearby and go to tarpon to try new places to eat. I will not be going to this establishment to eat. Not only that my car was damaged by the towing company so anyone that wants an expensive meal and your car towed go and enjoy if you want your just stop at this establishment to get a tow 106 dollars it might be worth really other places in the area to eat with no towing charges either great valet service service with a tow

We’ve lived in North Pinellas County for around 20 years, but we just moved to Tarpon Springs a few months ago. Q Dogs is an unassuming little place on the west side of Alt. 19, and I probably drove by it a hundred times before I really took note of it. I’m a barbecue fan, and barbecue isn’t widely offered in North Pinellas. I’ve been there three times now, and I’m turning into a real fan of the place. Today I had a pulled pork sandwich for lunch, and it was great. The meat was smoky and moist, the bread was thick slices of white bread, and the collard greens that I ordered as my side were maybe the best I’ve ever had — peppery but not overly so, with plenty of bacon chunks. The last time I was there I ordered the ribs, and they were fabulous — meaty, tender and flavorful. The serving was large enough that I took two of the ribs home and enjoyed them for lunch the next day. This place offers three kinds of barbecue sauce — sweet, hot and a Carolina sauce that is mustard-based. I like the sweet the best, but I’ve been putting a little bit of meat aside so I can try out the other sauces. They all are terrific. Also worthy of mention: the owner AND the help were very helpful and friendly, and the place is clean as a whistle. The meat smokers are smoking away outside, and you can sit inside OR outside. They also seem to do a pretty brisk takeout business. I’m not sure this place has really been discovered yet — it’s never crowded and it should be. If you like barbecue, you’re going to like this place a lot. Why four stars instead of five? Well, they also specialize in hot dogs and I haven’t tried those as yet, and there’s a lot of sides that I haven’t tried, either. I’ve heard very good things about the mac and cheese; maybe next time. –0– UPDATE: Earlier, I said I hadn’t tried a number of sides and other things, and therefore I was withholding a star. We went back today for lunch, and even though I am not a huge hot dog fan I tried a couple of their dogs. They were great — natural casing hot dogs with a real«snap» when you bite into them. Lots of available toppings(I had the regular mustard and relish as well as chopped onions). VERY, VERYGOOD! I also tried the mac and cheese and thought it was among the best examples I’ve ever had. a generous portion, made with small pasta shells and plenty of cheese. Beth had the baked beans to go along with her pulled pork sandwich, and she raved about them. So this place does everything well, and I like it a lot, enough to bump it up from four stars to five.

Great food. Great service. The owner is always so happy and he’s part of the reason we return. Another reason we return is because the food is amazing. Try the mini cheesecakes if you have a sweet tooth. Also the Carolina sauce is phenomenal. The hotdogs are good and I love the BBQ.

Stopped in with the family. Had a q dog and it was just OK. The dog was fine, but the bbq was kind of bland. I thought it would have a bit more kick/flavor, but it was a bit limp. The sides were very generous and tasty, I liked both the potato salad and the slaw.

We stopped in here on the way home from Tampa. I’d been wanting to see what they had to offer and yesterday we were not to be disappointed. We pulled in late in the afternoon, shortly before 4pm. My husband wanted BBQ and I wanted Hot Dogs, since this is what Qdogs offers, we were happy to be able to be acomodated. I ordered 2 dogs with chili and cheese. The chili was very mild and no beans, and yummy sharp cheddar. The husband ordered pulled pork with sides of coleslaw and chili with beans. His meal was hugely portioned, the sides came in clear plastic containers, with lids, no styrofoam here! I think they took the advice from PenelopeT. My dogs were large ¼ pound dogs, the toppings were generous and my side, Potato salad was delicious and also very generous. The only drawback was that the hot dog roll got soggy very quickly. It’s a good thing that I am on a low carb diet and didn’t plan on eating it anyway. Some things to know: Over 30 toppings can be found for your hot dogs! Look for specials on the chalk boards, they’re quite helpful! They serve coke products! Always a plus. And ALWAYS be careful of traffic on Alt 19.

Their hot dogs are pretty good, and you have a choice of toppings from the standard onion, relish to fancier guacamole, though nothing wild like pineapple. But what keep bringing us back is their bbq. The first time we visited we were disappointed that the ribs won’t be available till after 4pm, as they put them in the smoker in the late morning. We decided to come back later for it and glad we did! Seriously good ribs. Tender, juicy, fall off the bone, finger licking good, flavorful without any sauce. But should you like some sauce, they offer three types: sweet, heat and Carolina(vinegary mustard), the latter two my favorite. The sides are pretty good too. Collard green is not salty like some places have it, the mac & cheese creamy and rich, cole slaw with a fresh crunch. George the owner is super friendly. He’s a Tarpon Springs native and proud to be the one Greek not selling Greek food in his restaurant(indeed, you can’t order Greek salad here).

I am not a huge fan of hot dogs so when a friend told me, «you have to go check out this place.» I was not too excited. Then he told me, «They have BBQ too.» NOW I was interested. When I walked up to Q Dogs, the smell of their slow cookers assured me, «Man, they definitely have BBQ» Wow, it was excellent. I tried the pulled pork sandwich with two different sauces… bread was large slices and fresh! The sauces were very good as well. There was a large portion of pork and it was among the best I have had(and I have had a lot). I was happy to see they had collard greens and they were also very good. The owner was pulling ribs off the cooker when I left and man, I am going back for ribs!

Soft Opening for Tarpon, offering a slow smoked BBQ and Hot Dogs. Really would like to see this little business succeed. Great location but the«Dogs» need work, too small for the platter and cost. They serve their sides in styrofoam — huge no no — black plastic would have been better more appealing to the eye. Outdoor logo and signage is excellent, indoor signage description is confusing, not clear — needs work on featuring the toppings better. So customers can give a clear order. BBQ is excellent! Chicken and Pork outstanding!!! Bread needs work big time and could have been better. Hopefully they will tweak these nuances before business takes notice. The owner seems wonderful, he really digs it but when the register changes hands to the younger gent — he has no personality due in part to his lack of customer service experience. I found the heavy cooking smell difficult to tolerate. Since they offer seared and steamed Hot Dogs the restaurant gets a heavy smell. The grilling and steaming should have been taken to the back with overhead fan to keep the air light. Not a good idea to have staff grilling up front. Wish them well. Tarpon could use a good Hot Dog/BBQ stand. Cheers, Pen
