This was the worst indian food I have ever had and I’ve had my share of questionable indian meals. I ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, garlic naan and samosas. The lamb vindaloo tasted like bland beef stew(did not taste at all like lamb), the naan was burnt on all sides, and the chicken tikka masala was the worst. Also the side of salad was watery and rotten. I called to ask for a refund but they said that this was just how their food was. This was the worst food and service.

I ordered delivery from Swad and it was pretty disappointing. The Chicken Tikka Masala and rice were good, but not great. So if thats all you are ordering you will be fine. However everything else was pretty bad. The Naan bread was obviously stale and microwaved to try and save it. It was hard as a rock and tasted old. The vegetable pakora was very very greasy. The salad was nice but there was no salad dressing. Lastly the dessert was on the chincy side. I ordered the gulab jaman and for $ 3 you expect 3 of them. They only gave 2. On the positive side, they deliver. But I don’t know if I will be placing another order.

Naan was stale, hard to chew, virtually a piece of cardboard. Very oily. Ordered paneer tikka masala. The paneer was crumbled in the sauce and was not tasty whatsoever. It had a very strange aftertaste. Disappointed.

I was excited seeing there was a new Indian spot near where I lived but honestly I don’t think I will be coming back. I had take out and asked for garlic naan. This was the worst naan(even worse than some store bought frozen ones). I heard/saw them use a microwave to heat up the naan. I asked for butter chicken spicy and it was tasty but thats it. All that for 24 dollars! I rather drive further up the road to a different spot.

I ordered delivery tonight. It was not as good as I expected considering all the reviews I read. The ordered the onion and the garlic Nan bread. Both were tasteless, dry and stale. It was the worst Nan bread I ever tried in my life. I also had the chicken Tika Masala and the Lamb Curry. Both were very disappointing. They lacked flavor and the lamb was dry. I will not be eating here again.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for the past few months and finally got the opportunity. I wasn’t disappointed. I cannot remember the names of all the dishes we tried but there wasn’t a bad one at our table. The chef(the owner) handles his dishes with such a personal touch, you can taste the love in every bite. our server could not have been nicer and the restaurant is super clean. No complaints here, will be going back to this gem often

Ehhh. Husband and I wanted Indian and decided to try a new place. Opted for delivery. One item was not what we ordered. Biggest complaint was naan. It was tough and dry. Eggplant curry was very salty. For the prices, I expect better. Sizes of containers were small. Will probably go back to our old place.

Love Indian cuisine! It’s authentic cooking! My husband & I first ordered out for dinner months ago. Today we came for late lunch, and sat in. Felt like we’re eating at my friends’ house. It’s that authentic homemade dishes! Place is small but can serve a good crowd. Business is probably mostly take out. I’m happy to have found another option than Karavalli in Nanuet. We started with veggie simosa, I ordered Lamb curry, my husband had chicken korma, and we shared yellow bismati rice & garlic naan. Excellent taste. Definitely will come more often. Mark is an excellent chef, and Monica is a sweetheart! They are a great duo! Thank you!

Great food and they deliver! We ordered in the evening and all the food arrived hot. The delivery person was very friendly and the food was packaged nicely with large portions. The food overall was excellent and the samosa was to die for! Also an added benefit is that you can order right through the Unilocal app.

This is a horrible place with horrible management. They messed up my delivery order and refused to refund the entire order. The owner/manager is not a good business man.

If you have to have Indian tonight, I guess this is a passable option — but we are unlikely to come back. The food lacked complexity and flavor, and tried making up for it with(to us) excessive amounts of salt. The rice came dry and did not resemble what one would associate with«basmati». The service however was excellent and the interior was spotless.

My wife and I work in the area and this is our go to place for a quick yet fresh and delicious lunch date. When eating in, the food is beautifully presented and is made immediately before serving. Take out is amazing as well, when in the mood we drive the 35 minute round trip from home just because it’s worth it! Another thing to note is Lunch pricing is very reasonable on the low side even… My favorite part of visiting Swad(and Mark’s oooh la…) is the atmosphere and friendly service we receive. When ordering takeout I basically say the first part of my order on the phone, and he finishes my sentence and asks«how are the kids…» Although we were just there the other day I may need to go back next week and try the rasmalai recommended by another reviewer :)

Always enjoyed the food at Mark’s so was eager to try Swad. The food here is still good, but the prices are higher, which is a bit of a let down. That said, there are so many great vegetarian dishes that I will always come back for more. Now I just order a little less often, due to the pricing. But the service is always great, the owners are friendly, and they make the orders as per requirements — so my kids can still enjoy mild dishes while I enjoy spicier. One of the best Indian places in the area.

Excellent Indian Cusine. Food freshly made. Coconut chicken and sag Pinar was super. Service is novice but I’m sure it will improve

Swad offers great Indian food, period! The chicken Tika Masala is as tasty as any Indian restaurant I’ve been to and better than most. The restaurant is very attractive and the service is warm and friendly. A great bargain for lunch and excellent choice for dinner! We are so grateful to have Swad near to where we live.

Got the chicken tika masala and butter chicken both were the worst I’ve had, way to much black pepper in both. The garlic naan tasted like it was taken out of a frozen ready made package(not good at all) super stale. Honestly I’ve had better from the frozen food section. The restaurant was clean and elegant and the staff was nice, however I will not be returning.

Swad is the new establishment run by the owners of the former Mark’s Ooh La La Yum in Norwood(now closed). The new restaurant is in a nicer location, with improved décor and a comfortable dining area to accommodate patrons. My standards for Indian food are rather high, as I have had the fortune of enjoying numerous home-cooked meals prepared by Indian ex-pats. While there are many Indian restaurants around, this is my first choice due to the high quality of their food. I can’t personally speak about the full menu, although I know that others are always fully satisfied with their meals. My dish is the chicken tikka masala, and Ashwani knows to start it cooking as soon as I come through the door. The lunch portion(at $ 9.00) comes with a generous helping of chicken and rice, along with yogurt, a small salad, and pickled onions. Plus a drink. I find that the meal is much more satisfying and delicious with all the accompaniments. I highly recommend Swad for fresh, yummy, Indian food in a comfortable, friendly setting. You won’t regret it.

Swad is my absolute favorite lunch spot in the area. I loved it as Mark’s Ooh La La Yum, and in this new location it really shines. Great food, friendly proprietor, and very reasonable prices.

I went here with my wife and younger brother to check out Ashwani’s new place, and the food was incredible as always. The restaurant is a work in progress and will be updated as the months go by. I’m rather excited to see his new establishment transform with each visit. Now let’s talk food. Ashwani is a passionate chef and his love for food shows in his cooking. I started with the vegetable pakora appetizer. It was light tasting, crispy, and fried perfectly so as to not be too oily. I could taste each vegetable in the mix that came alive with the subtle spices. For lunch, I had the chicken biryani. Ashwani really knows his regular patrons to the point where he simply knows how I like my food prepared. He prepared my biryani with just enough spice to feel the heat in the back of my palate. For those more adventurous, he can turn up the heat with spice skillfully so that one can still taste the flavors of the dish and still deliver the satisfaction of a hot spicy dish. To end my meal, I indulged in the rasmalai. The sweet paneer cheese is made on the premises, and once can taste the freshness with each savory bite. I highly recommend it for those seeking an alternative to cheesecake to end a meal. In closing, if you are looking for Indian food with a fresh modern spin, visit Swad, your taste buds will thank you.
