So, you’re in Taos wondering where to get coffee. There are a lot of options how does one decide? Well we tried them all multiple times and Coffee Cats is definitley our favorite! We have enjoyed our drinks every time and I can not same the same for the other shops(sorry you guys) So go check out Coffee Cats’ large menu. And don’t miss out on the muffins. P. s. One day I went there and the NoSeeUms were playing their music outside. made for a very relaxed atmosphere.

They take plastic, unlike the World Cup. Nice place. Free wi-fi. My drink was good. :)

Lots of organic options for coffee, so many flavors to choose from as well. The staff is always helpful and friendly. I love the atmosphere and all of the cat trinkets.

Great staff. Warm and inviting interior. Ask and ye shall receive. I requested, not too often, that they obtain little marshmallows for use as accompaniment for Hot Chocolate. Less than one week later, they had little marshmallows on hand… because THEYCARE. The employees of this business have class and charm in excess of the job requirements .

While looking for a book in the nearby bookstore my mom discovered this coffee place and loved the coffee here and how cute the place was. So, my boyfriend and I decided to go and try it too! The lady there has lived there her awhile life, and though she likes cats, the owner apparently likes them even more! we were happy with the conversation with her and the coffee. A great find.

Really good coffee, full bodied but not bitter. The menu was amazing. Next time I will try the Danish rolls. They looked fresh and tasty.

Walking the Plaza and the shopping area to the north? Then stop in for a cold drink or a warm one! We try to travel to Taos a couple times a year early summer and around the first of Oct. Coffee Cats is the coffee shop we head to when we want a cup of joe or want a cool drink and a break from the heat. Most of their stuff is made in house or organic if not. An oasis in and of itself!

As I walked by the window, he stared back at me, his eyes following me as I walked to the door. However, he didn’t move. He couldn’t. He was a monkey… dressed as a waiter, and he wasn’t real. I entered Coffee Cats, regardless. The wife and I were drifting through Taos on the way back to Denver, after spending the weekend in Santa Fe, an hour south of Taos. This was one of the three coffee shops that held any promise, and was the first one we went into as we drove through the city. Walking in, the smell of baking brownies overwhelmed me. It smelled the way you want coffee and baked goods to taste, but can’t quite capture on your tongue. Anyway, the wife grabbed her standard USA, and I was about to do the same, when I glanced at the chalkboard and saw«El Coyote”~ a USA with cinnamon and a red chlli spice~ I imagined biting into a chocolatey browney with that heat on the side and was sold. I ordered and then watched the woman behind the bar work the espresso machine. She operated it like a pilot of an airplane would start the takeoff process, pressing buttons and working dials. The 4 shots pulled within seconds(much better than my own espresso machine at home which takes about 3 minutes per shot!) and the wife and I had drinks in hand! The store kept with the theme of New Mexico: bright, desert-like colors. I sat down at my turquoise-plaid table, noting the peach color walls lined with art. It wasn’t an uncomfortable spot because of the color, but the wooden seats and wooden bar were hard. The whole sitting area was lit by the sun, as well as some haphazardly placed lamps, which I kept bumping when I stretched. We sipped our coffee and did some work, waiting out two different rushes of people in the process. So props to the one barista, who in the midst of all the customers, managed to keep the brownies from burning, even while taking multiple drink orders. I also listened to her talk to some other customers about some spiritual rock additions Coffee Cats will do for drinks… something about dropping a certain stone in the bevy and restoring different«energies»… Idk. Anyways, as we left, I thought it was a good spot, with good coffee, but it still needed comfy chairs. And maybe an explanation for the monkey in the window :)

Quaint little shop that has a to-go and indoor storefront. The drinks the lady made were articulate and made with care. I ordered a watermelon slush and it had a nice extra sweetness to it. They take cash or check only.

Great alley location out of main Taos plaza with waterfalls, local artists playing instruments or doing their thing with paint and brush. The strewn about benches will draw you in but chimes in the trees and this petite café heighten the magical nature of the area and keep you staying longer than anticipated. They offer smoothies, a variety of decent herbal tea, and ice cream options. Each of which is worthy if seeking a break in the shade with outside tables to soak in the vibes this colony of artists offers.

I don’t exaggerate often, so listen to me when I tell you this: they have the best iced coffee I have ever had. I have been a barista at multiple establishments and typically if I get an iced coffee I would put a bunch of other stuff in it because I couldn’t stand the bitterness. Here, however, it is so good you don’t have to add anything. It is carmally and delicious. I wish I had some right now. The rocks are a nice touch. Just do it. Live a little. Cash only, so if you’re one of those old farts that only carries around their thick heavy credit card you’re going to have to do it the old fashioned way and get cash. It’s NOT that big of a deal so shut up about it. It saves the company money so they don’t have to raise prices on coffee. Win — win. Sorry you don’t get points on your credit card. The employees are consistently friendly and efficient. Each time I went there was a line but I never felt like I waited too long. Also being a barista can sometimes be a thankless job depending on what caffeine addicted jerk you’re contributing their addiction to, so if the barista is in a bad mood, it’s probably your fault. LONGLIVECOFFEECATS!

Nice little place with a lot of options. I had a slushie, which was pretty refreshing, but nothing spectacular. My girlfriend, on the other hand, really enjoyed their iced coffee. They do this thing here where they can put a rock in your drink for an extra $ 1, which is supposed to have healing benefits. To me, this claim is highly dubious, but it’s an interesting little quirk that sets this place apart. Something else that set this place apart was the fast service. I feel like service at coffee joints, even when you have multiple baristas working, can really drag. The young woman behind the counter when we visited was super fast and seemingly able to handle a large volume of drink orders at one. Cash and check only, FYI.

Cute place, great selection. I ordered the watermelon slush and my hubby got a smoothie. We did the rock addition to try to increase energy and ward off negativity!

This is a cute little place with great specialty lattes. I have not tried the«rock bar» thing(dropping a «healing» stone into your drink) but it is something you’d only find in Taos. The barista service has been so-so. Victoria is awesome and sweet but the other lady(don’t know her name) was pretty surly to me the one time I’ve dealt with her. I mean, if it’s after 4pm and I want caffeine don’t make a big deal about it. Do you want customers or not? I remember when this place was just a carry-out window which I wish they still did b/c I’m always getting my coffee to go but I would love to find an excuse to hangout in the cozy seating area and use the free wifi.

Hearts! This is one of the most cozy coffee houses I’ve ever been to. Everything about it– the friendly baristas, the local art, the energy rock shelves, the soft pastel walls, the fireplace, the stripped floors– is cozy and endearing. One of my more indulgent daydreams is to open my own coffee shop. I’ve walked through many a perfect coffee shop in my mind’s eye… and every time I hang out at Coffee Cats, I think«I would be proud to call this place my own.» The drinks are rather expensive(due perhaps, to CC’s prime location in the Taos Plaza) but hold some unexplainable charm. Try an iced coffee with coconut syrup– or a dirty iced chai. Tip: It’s cash only, so don’t forget to bring a few dollar bills with you. And definitely get a few stones to throw into your drink.

An awesome locally-owned coffeehouse in the heart of the historic district of Taos. They are located in the pedestrian mall between Bent Street and the Taos Plaza. It’s probably the largest coffeehouse downtown, where space is often limited. I have never not been able to find a table here. They have wifi, and big windows, perfect for people watching. In the summer, their outdoor seating is even better for people watching. Buskers often set up outside, by the fountain. Dog friendly even! The owners & staff are great, and their coffee is too!
