Food was super great. I love that the stinky bunz come with fun sides and that you get your choice of kimchi.

This is a definite must have. After two visits to this truck I’ve yet to be disappointed. The portions are a bit petite but the food is good so just double up if you’re not sampling several trucks.

I’ve got to hand it to the Tampa police and fire officers… these guys know some great places to eat on a budget. We had about 90 minutes for our lunch break while in class, so after some frantic phone calls to confirm the location, we piled into various vehicles and converged upon the Stinky Bunz food truck in downtown Tampa. I knew I was in for some good food when I saw the sign which said, «Stinky Bunz is a Korean inspired, Seoulful experience. Served from a truck & delivered to the hungry masses…» Gotta love the puns, and their playful attitude! The name refers to the fluffy, slightly-sweet buns which are split in half and then stuffed with Korean delicacies. I opted for the Korean BBQ special which was three of these Korean soft tacos filled with tasty sliced pork covered with a tasty barbecue sauce, and then covered with pickled Kimchi, fresh cilantro, and a squirt of Sriracha aioli. 3 of these delicious little sandwiches for $ 9. YUMMMMMM!!! Watch for the Stink Bunz truck at various food truck rallies around the city, and also go check out the new restaurant owned by these same people — Anise Global Gastrobar at 777 N. Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa.

I can still remember my very first stinky bun. No, this is not some sort of sick joke. Stinky Bunz are all too real and for that, I am so thankful. This unforgettable food memory was created last April, when I was ravenous as ever and dreadfully hot from Florida’s springtime sun. Prancing around a Tampa Bay Food Truck Rally set in the cobblestone streets of historic Ybor City, I couldn’t for the life of me, choose my midday chow. Standard Leslie style, I desperately walked from truck to truck reading off each sandwich, taco, and burger description. My stomach was growling, my brow was filled with sweat and my beau was losing it with my inability to make a simple lunchtime decision. With mere seconds left before I threw a self-induced hissy fit, I spotted it. Stinky Bunz food truck… there it stood, parked and waiting for a visit that would forever change a little lady’s life. Lover of nearly all ethnic fare, I had no worries. For these Korean sandwich-like bundles of goodies would pleasure my palate-I was certain. Sinking my teeth into the spongy, soft and slightly sweet mini taco-shaped wrap filled with Korean BBQ pork, homemade kimchi, and Sriracha aioli, I was in pure and utter spicy cuisine bliss. Having never tasted something so unique, so complex and so addicting in flavor, I almost couldn’t contain my excitement. It was then that I foresaw many stinky bunz in my future. Hoping and praying this glorious truck is parked at every food truck event, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning the second I see it-shining bright, stealing every food truck rally show. The stinky bunz… they are almost too good to be true. With a selection of different meats and Korean kimchi stuffed in the little doughy, sticky, flavorful bunz, you truly can’t go wrong. I must warn you though, the bunz are highly addicting. Be careful… very careful.

These little buns are so cute and spongy it was hard to pass up the chance to try them. I decided to go for the chicken very well seasoned, really loved the flavors but for me the mix of the spicy chicken and the sweetness of the bun didn’t work well. I would like to try other meat combinations and perhaps the dessert version.

I have had this wonderful truck a few times in the past. One particular time was at Flicks and Food Trucks. I love visiting my friends over at Stinky Buns; well, we aren’t friends just yet, but I feel our friendship growing with each bun I consume! I love these little pillows of love! I mean, who doesn’t want a Korean steamed bun, stuffed with a meat of your choice, and then topped with kimchi? Add a couple sweet buns, dropped in the fryer, then generously covered in powdered sugar, and you have yourself a pleasant little meal! For more on this food truck and more, plus photos check out the write up on my blog!

I want to lay my head down on these buns and take a glorious nap. I had the BBQ pork bun. It was really fresh and I loved the sweet kimchi topping. The buns are so fluffy and I don’t even care they’re frozen, not fresh, as another reviewer pointed out. It was hot and tasted like fresh to me, so I didn’t mind one bit where they came from :) The rice served with the buns is just«meh.» I also tried the sweet buns — whoa! These are just buns that are folded over and deep fried, then dusted with a ton of powdered sugar. What’s not to like? On the downside, I think $ 8 for two buns and rice it’s a little pricey for the amount of food you get… if they threw in one more bun or lowered the price by a buck or two I’d consider it a great deal.

I’m in love. I’ve been DYING to try this food truck for months but always missed them! They happened to be at a food truck rally I attend Friday in Palm Harbor and I am so glad I finally got to try their delicious buns. My husband and I shared two buns for $ 8. The entrée came with a generous serving of kimchi rice. We tried the chili beef bun topped with cucumber kimchi, and the panko shrimp bun. Both were hot, fresh, and the flavors were perfect. I preferred the shrimp over the beef, but my husband preferred the beef over the shrimp so obviously you can’t go wrong either way. I can’t wait to track them down again and try all the other flavors.

A very good healthy option when looking for a food truck. Good Kimchi, the stinky bunz have very fresh ingredients. Good service also.

Another visit, another satisfying meal. HOWEVER, I found it to be in extremely poor form to be cutting open pre-packaged buns while serving food. The upside is that frozen buns can be delicious, it’s a matter of finding the right ones. The downside is that the food truck has lost a little bit of authenticity for me. With that said, I don’t think it’s a terrible thing that the buns are bought-in because the food they serve as a whole is still really good, just don’t open the package(s) in front of everyone you’re serving.

Korean food truck FTW! Another truck to visit my job, and I can honestly say that this is the best food truck that I’ve had here in Tampa. Hands down. So good that I ate it both times they came last week. Definitely a fan of the bulgogi chicken bun. I also tried the lemongrass pork & shrimp, but neither were as flavorful as the chicken. My rice-to-shrimp ratio in my rice bowl was like 2:1, though. That’s really my only complaint. Not only is the food delicious, but it’s also a filling serving. 2 buns + kimchi fried rice + an after meal mint = worth the $ 7.

Yum! I was very excited to be able to get my hands on some of their buns from Stinky Bunz. It’s already rare enough to find good buns but this truck serves bun sandwiches the right way. I normally see this everywhere in Cali and NY but no where in FL so I was very happy to be able to get me some! The buns can be served up with different types of filling and also toppings. The meal also comes with kimchi fried rice. It’s one killer meal since it’s so filling! The buns are so soft and moist and the meat filling is full of flavor. I love! They also serve rice bowls and lettuce wraps if you’re not into the whole bun thing but it’s worth a try.
