Start the drooling… now! As you drive up there are awesome drawings on the windows of the shop. So Cute! I loved it from the start! Once you enter the shop it is pretty open. Then you would start to line up by the case with the donuts. This was the only akwardness, since there are 2 tables right there… if its busy I wouldn’t want to sit right there because people would be standing on top you pretty much. The donuts and yummyness is what your next thoughts would be… There is so much to choose from! We opted for the: Cookies and Cream — Vanilla Glaze with Oreo pieces Heath Bar — Chocolate Glaze with chopped up Heath Bar ScarFace — Glazed with guava filling and powdered sugar Just to name a few… We also tried the peanut butter cup donut and the dizzled peanut butter donut. So yummy! The sandwhiches you have your choose of foundation… donut, waffle or bagel. My donut of choice was the Cronut. Soooooo delicious. I really have been craving another one since that visit. There are dozens of donut shops but this one is the best that I have tasted and so many flavors! ah!

Had a good chicken ‘n waffle sandwich here! Quite a diverse menu — kinda think they should focus on just a few things. Oh, and their donuts are good, too!

So after a lot of waiting i was finally able to try this place out and i was not disappointed. There donuts are as good as people are saying there are. But aside from there amazing donuts they also have sandwiches which can also be made with waffles instead of bread… so cool. But definitely a must try is there donut burger which is very good, a little greasy, but def much much better than those carnival ones you hear about sometimes. Also there chicken and waffle sandwich was supper good. The one downside to my visits here is that i’ve always had to wait a super long time to get my food. I don’t know if I’m just unlucky overtime i come here, or if that just how they do things, but ya, too much waiting is being done here. But i can say that it is worth it. All in all if the price was cheaper I would come here all the time, even with what it is, I will definitely be coming here again.

Last Saturday I suggested to my girlfriend that we go to our usual donut place, Nicola’s, for breakfast. She’s all about trying new places lately so we ended up at So Nuts! instead. We picked out a dozen cake and fancy donuts. There were so many to choose from on the menu so it was hard, but not everything was in stock. My favorites were the strawberry cake donut which I think is just a strawberry flavored sour cream donut. Actually all of their cake donuts had that appearance. The menu also had some interesting sandwiches with donuts for buns but I don’t know how I feel about trying those. Sounds like a heart attack if you ask me. I still think that Nicola’s has the best sour cream donuts in the Bay Area, but So Nuts! is a close second. And they definitely win on specialty donut selection!

After a long night out, I woke up starving and too tired to get up and make breakfast. My boyfriend suggested our usual donut spot, but I had remembered seeing So Nuts! on Unilocal and Groupon and the sandwiches sounded devine. A glazed donut grilled cheese?! I’m pretty sure donuts and cheese are my two main food groups, so this was right up my alley! We found out once we arrived that there was a stipulation to the mixed dozen Groupon we had purchased; there was a sign stating that the box was pre-selected and included cake and specialty donuts. We were a little bummed because we had already decided that there were certain donuts we would’ve liked to try. There were 4 – 5 customers in line before us and the display case was already half empty, so we were really hoping we wouldn’t get stuck with any weird donut rejects. When it came our turn to order, we were pleasantly surprised when we were told that we could choose our own! We just had to narrow it down to six cake or regular and six of the fancy donuts. The donuts we finally decided on(after much deliberation) were: Cake– Sugar & Spice, Red Velvet, Ebony & Ivory, 1 Strawberry Cake &2 Vanilla Cake Rings Fancy– Cereal Killer(Cinnamon Toast Crunch version), Cookie Monster, Skunk Ape, Metropolitan, Dirty Deeds, & Half Baked I’d have to say that my favorite was the Half Baked. It’s a chocolate glazed donut with brownie pieces and caramel drizzle. What can I say? I’m a chocolate lover! So Nuts! is a great donut shop and I cannot wait to go back and try that grilled cheese and the Chocolate Bacon Longboard. yum!

I stopped in here to check it out the other day as I was waiting for my Chinese food next door. They had quite the selection of fancy donuts! I’m a simple person and wasn’t really into donuts with cereal on top. I was going to opt for a plain glazed donut, but after telling the girl what I really wanted, cause they didn’t have it in the case, she got another lady from the back to help. I told her I loved Boston crème and she said it wouldn’t be a problem to make me a couple. Holy $#!t!!! Best donut ever and it was about twice the size of a krispy kreme! Delicious. While I was waiting I noticed the sandwiches coming out the back being served and all I can say is they looked phenomenal as well. I will definitely be back for lunch very soon. In fact after telling my daughters what I was typing right now, they started hollering for donuts! So now I’m on my way there to get some more!

Came for the donuts, left with a dozen. They have a great texture and aren’t sickly sweet which is very nice. I do wish there selection was bigger and I would expect that from a donut boutique shop.

One Monday I made a special trip up North Dale Mabry to try this place, and when I went to pull on the front door… it was locked. That’s when I noticed that this place closed at 3pm on Sunday AND Monday and I couldn’t believe it. Standing outside the door waiting for the rain to let up to go back to my car, the owner actually opened the door and talked to me. I told him I didn’t know they closed so early and he said he’d be happy to sell me donuts, but they had shut the grill down and he could not make sandwiches. He was awfully nice and apologetic and he cared that I had come to his store. We talked for a few minutes and then I told him I would be back another day when I was in the area. When I went back in this afternoon, he was sitting off in the corner on his laptop and I walked right up to him. He remembered me, thanked me for coming back and even helped me with menu recommendations. As I waited for my sandwich, I checked out the donut case and it was fascinating. There was bacon on donuts, fruity pebbles and cap’n crunch on donuts(They call those Cereal Killers), golden oreo pieces on donuts(Goldilocks), red velvet cake donuts, and«So Nuts» more. There’s allegedly a Charlie Sheen donut, but I didn’t see any of them. It is covered in powdered sugar, so absolutely no clue how they came up with that name.(I’m a golfer, so perhaps it should now be called a Dustin Johnson?) While I was very, very tempted to have their Chicken & Waffle sandwich, I chose their rueben because it is available with either corned beef, pastrami or turkey. Well, they forgot to give me my side of thousand island dressing as it clearly states on the menu and anyone knows is a key ingredient. Let’s just say my grade for So Nuts is incomplete at this point as a result of this experience. The owner told me they are expanding to Hyde Park and Westchase, so clearly they are doing something right most of the time. Here’s hoping they get my order right on my next visit or at least throw me a donut for continuing to come back.(Insert your own How I Met Your Mother Canadian joke here)

I had seen this new donut place come in several months back but always found it hard to get there early in the morning before all the good options were sold out.(All donut places are like that). So when I saw they had a Groupon out a couple weeks ago, I knew that was a way to get my butt there to try them out for less $$$. I am so glad that I pushed the hubby out of bed 30 minutes early this morning so that we could try them before work. I would say there was about 20 – 22 different options to choose from(we were there at 8am) and it was honestly hard to pick out which 12 we wanted to try. So far I have tasted the Red Velvet and the Blueberry(I think it has a specific name but can’t remember, its like an old fashion blueberry donut) and they were WONDERFUL. They were fresh and so moist. Of course the hubs tried to tell me I wouldn’t like the Red Velvet, but that was so he didn’t have to share with me. I am looking forward to trying the other donut options as well as some of the deli items. I am not sure about a donut hamburger… maybe I will try the hubby’s cause I KNOW he will get that. I am glad to see Carrollwood has gotten another wonderful donut shop and that it was actually worth getting up early to stop at.

I had a plan… I convinced my wife to come with me, very early, before I needed to drop off my ridiculous car at the nearby Jeff’s Transmission shop. I figured we’d pop in when they opened, try the donuts and enjoy an espresso or three. We got there bright and early, and we were kindly welcomed as we entered, and then we sat down to peruse the menu. This nice gentleman, Mike, introduced himself. He told us his sons run the place and unfortunately, their fryer gave up the ghost this very morning. What did this mean? No donuts! Argh! Plan foiled. Well, it turned out we could have cake donuts, homemade egg sandwiches, and espresso. Just not their über glazed/donut specialities. We must have looked crestfallen or perhaps our energy level was just too low due to the early hour. While chatting with Mike about his family-run donut operation, he surprised us with a coupon for 12 free donuts next time we could come by! Wow, that was quite nice. We were energized and ready for the day ahead! Then, we learned they were opening a second location across from the University of Tampa! Awesome! We look forward to visiting both and gorging on a dozen donuts or perhaps, sharing a few with our friends. We shall see! Thanks Mike! See you next time!

We had put off trying So Nuts for awhile, but decided to give it a try today… very glad we did! This place is awesome! I go out to lunch with my dad every day because we work together, but we’re tired of all the normal places on Dale Mabry. This was a really nice change. We both had the Turkey Bacon Club sandwich, and it was delicious. Piled high with lots of meat and fresh bread. I had the fries with mine and they were great too! I love the seasoning on them. It’s $ 7.50 for a sandwich, but it’s a big one and that includes a side(but drinks are separate). He ordered a café con leche(they have a fancy looking coffee machine) and said it was really good. He also had a donut —- and raved about it! He already has plans to go back here this Saturday for breakfast. The décor is kinda funky in a cool way, and they keep it nice and clean inside.

I’ve seen this place a bunch of times-every time I go to Publix– but I’ve never stopped. Well today I was ready to give it a shot. I told my hubby I’d bring home lunch and I was sick of everything in the area, so I rolled the dice. The establishment is larger inside than it looks from the outside. There were quite a few people dining in at high tops and little two seater tables. I was a little overwhelmed with the menu-there are a TON of options! Donuts, sandwiches, coffee drinks… I ended up ordering a BLT on wheat, a French Dip, and a Samoa donut. All were very tasty and come with a side of chips, cole slaw, potato or pasta salad. The donut was INSANE! So, so rich and creamy, and I’m not even a donut person! My husband was in love and even marked a few other selections on the paper menu he wants to try next time(BACONCHOCOLATEDONUT! CINNAMONTOASTCRUNCHDONUT! REESECUPDONUT!) Also, the staff was very friendly and attentive. I didn’t give it 5 stars… yet. You really need to blow my mind for 5 stars. I will definitely be returning to try the other donuts and also the Reuben and bacon grilled cheese! Glad this place is right around the corner!

We came here on a quiet Sunday afternoon, looking to try a place that has been hidden away on my list of bookmarks for a while. Compared to the dreariness of the sky outside, we found a colorful, inviting atmosphere when we walked in. I really do like the prints of gigantic robots alongside of larger than life donuts. Very cool. As we had a hankering for all things lunch, we skipped the donut case. I took a quick peek inside, though, and saw a few that will have me returning for a taste. In the meantime I ordered a Thanksgiving All Year sandwich. Holy Toledo, this sandwich is HUGE! It pretty much looks like two sub rolls stuffed beyond the brim with sliced turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. The flavor was quite good, although it was not my favorite rendition on this kind of sandwich. The price is worth the supremely generous portion of food, though. My husband and I were pretty much waddling like turkeys on our way out, feeling just as stuffed as our sandwiches had been. We will definitely be back to try the doughnuts, maybe even with a burger patty inbetween!

OMG! I have found paradise. It is So Nuts and it’s filled with their delicious donuts. I’ve heard all the hype about this place from other Unilocalers, but it’s not everyday I find myself in Carrollwood, so I hadn’t experienced all the donut excitement myself. Until today! I stopped in to satisfy my sweet tooth and check the place out for myself. The donuts are plentiful and there are lots of interesting and unique flavors. Donuts with bacon, donuts that taste like Samoas, red velvet donuts… You get the idea. I got a cereal killer donut with Cap’n Crunch and another donut with chocolate and bacon. I preferred the cereal killer donut — it’s super, super sweet and perfectly crunchy. All the deliciousness of cereal but without the bowl! The chocolate bacon donut was also pretty good. I’ve never had bacon on a donut before but was pleasantly surprised. The donut was not gross tasting. It was actually kind of pleasant. I sort of wish it had a filling though! I will definitely be back to try more donuts. What a great little place!

The doughnut side of the business is sweet, savory and delicious. The food side is totally lacking! I was the only customer and ordered a simple cornbeef and swiss sandwich with a nice grain mustard . First it is quite deceptive that there are no servers. It took awhile to catch on to that fact. I placed my simple order and it took 3, count that, 3 times to get a half correct, poorly made and poor quality sandwich. Yellow mustard finally came, I wasn’t eating a hot dog. It took 45 minutes to get a lousy sandwich. There are no excuses for this poor performance. I was the only customer, so how could the back of the house be too busy? I am really disappointed in the food aspect. I will be back for the doughnuts, no problems there. What’s a girl to do? Doughnuts are a food group, right?

Grumpy from my perpetual insomnia and the fact we were having a meeting on a Thursday, I was delighted to find two boxes of yummy goodness in our meeting room. My co-worker had surprised us with a great selection of donuts from So Nuts! Apparently this independent donut shop is all the rage in Carrollwood and I can understand why! These aren’t your ordinary donuts, ladies and gentlemen. I normally don’t eat breakfast but I made an exception that morning because I needed the sugar to give me some energy. I split the Captain Crunch Vanilla Frosted donut with a co-worker. The cereal on the donut was a little stale, but combined with the rest of the donut, it wasn’t too bad. I also had the chance to try the Orangutang. Wow. A vanilla frosted donut with Tang sprinkled on top? YES please to some orange Tangy goodness. I wasn’t able to try the other donuts since my sugar high kicked in and I began to lose focus. The bacon longboard looks good, but I am not one to combine sweet and salty… especially with bacon. My co-workers, however, enjoyed them and my boss was happy because he is a dessertaholic. I definitely plan to visit the storefront in Carrollwood and try some of their sandwiches when I get a chance!

Stopped in to get some donuts for hubby’s birthday late morning on a Friday. This is a nice size place and a nice addition to Carrollwood. A non-chain donut and restaurant shop that serves breakfast and lunch type foods. I don’t frequent the chain donut places as I’m more into healthy eating, but will splurge on occasions. The donuts were very yummy and they offer the usual and not so usual. Cereal crusted and bacon topped is not my thing but I liked the boston cream. They have unique Sammy’s of grilled cheese on a donut. And burgers on a donut. Not my idea of good eats but I’m sure there is a market for these state fair type of foods. The display case of donuts could use revamping as they have different prices for specialty and not clearly marked as to what is special as opposed to regular but I’m sure they will work out the kinks of that eventually. Also ordered a dozen and ended up short one so will check next time before getting home. Hubby loves the huge cinnamon roll and grandson loves the apple fritter. Both are humongous and can be shared easily.

After seeing all the hype on Unilocal,I knew I needed to try this place out. I arrived around 845 on a Friday morning. There was a decent amount of people inside and you could see the employees in the back making fresh donuts and bringing them to the display case. Although the extravagant donuts looked beautiful, I’m not one for cereal, extra frosting or sprinkles on my donut. I tend to lean towards the traditional ones and I chose a blueberry cake. It was so great and fresh but pretty sweet. Instead of opting for a second donut, I decided I should probably get some protein in my system so I ordered the ham, egg and cheddar on a bagel. The ham quality was good-more of a non lunch meat type. The bagel was ok. Nothing great. I had high hopes that they would also carry a high quality bagel but I found that not to be the case. The eggs were meh. On my next trip I will stick to what they do best-donuts.

So, I saw Rob G.‘s review and bookmarked So Nuts, then yesterday for some reason at least 3 others on my Unilocal friends list went there for lunch! I had to have it for dinner(especially since it was just me and the kids this week… hubby isn’t into sweets like I am… I know, bad mom taking the kids to get donuts for dinner while he’s away!) I ordered the kids regular grilled cheese sandwiches and I got the Donut Burger without bacon. So, maybe the bacon is what makes this burger«the stuff,» but it just didn’t have the sweet and savoriness that I expected it to. I actually think the burger itself could use some seasoning, but it was perfectly cooked and juicy. I’ll have to come back for another deli option and even try the Donut Grilled cheese as Steve E. mentioned they also have! The pasta salad on the side was just okay. I prefer my pasta salads with cucumber as opposed to celery, which I love in everything else. The highlight of my visit were the donuts that I brought home for dessert… and for breakfast the next day. They are freshly made every day and you can really tell. I’m usually not a big cake doughnut fan, but I couldn’t resist ordering the red velvet cake donut. Wow! It wasn’t as heavy as I expected. I really want another… like right now! The yeast glazed donut was fantastic. Not too sweet like a krispy crème, but not too bready like a dunkin donut… just right. The kids got the chocolate yeast donut with sprinkles and a cereal yeast donut with what I think is topped with trix. I also got a lemon filled powdered donut and a raspberry filled yeast glazed donut. I’m not certain, but I think these donuts are made with an eggier batter than the regular yeast donuts with a hole… I say this because they tasted so light. I can see how someone could have more than just one! ;) There’s a cool new utensil dispenser near the soda machine that the guy that brought our food out told me just got installed. He stated that the plastic knives are actually sharp. They really are! I cut my donut burger in half with ease. I’m a serious germaphobe and I won’t even let my family eat anything without washing hands or at least using hand sanitizers while we’re out. So I can really appreciate knowing that 50 hands haven’t dug into a container to fish out plastic utensils. It’s details like this that really excite me about a place. I hope they keep up the attention to detail and continue to use the supplier of these utensils. This is a convenient deli for me to get to because it’s just a straight trip up linebaugh to dale mabry and there’s plenty of parking in the plaza it sits in. I do think a competitor over in south tampa might have a leg up on taste… but the convenience and parking is always a south tampa issue. So, I’ll be back to So Nuts! Donuts & Deli to try more of the menu! NOTE: I overheard that the actual grand opening will be in about 2 weeks. I may be out of town then, but if I’m here I’ll be checking in!

There’s a new place for donuts in Carrollwood, and I’m hooked! So Nuts! Donuts & Deli has recently opened in the Publix shopping center along Dale Mabry in southern Carrollwood. You’ll find this place a few doors down from Tijuana Flats, and around the corner from The Brass Tap. So Nuts! opens at 6am Mon — Fri for the breakfast crowd, and they feature all different types of locally-roasted coffee drinks, hot tea, hot cocoa, and fruit smoothies. They’re quickly becoming known for their fun, funky, feel-good gourmet donuts made fresh daily in small batches. The So Nuts! donuts display features cake and yeast ring-donuts in outrageously-delicious choices, along with longboards, fritters, and some wild specialty donuts with crazy names and terrific fillings and toppings. I’m not a huge fan of most pastries because they are usually sickly-sweet, but the folks at So Nuts! have found the right blend of fruit flavors to enhance, rather than overpower their donuts, and I certainly appreciate the difference. You’ll also find breakfast sandwiches which are served on your choice of a donut, waffle, or bagel; and some insane grilled cheese donuts — picture a glazed donut turned inside out, add cheese, meats, or jelly, and grill it up! Savory donuts? Who’d a thunk it!!! So Nuts! stays open until 9pm which means you can also go there to enjoy artisan-crafted deli sandwiches with all of your usual favorites like pastrami, corned beef, turkey, roast beef, and French dips. They also go over the top with a glazed donut burger sandwich with two ¼ pound burgers, applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion between two grilled, glazed donuts. What??? So Nuts!!! In addition you’ll find smoked dinosaur legs(remember those big ol’ honkin smoked turkey legs from Disney?), hotdogs, soup, chicken & waffles, with plenty more crazy ideas still to come. Oh, and if you need something for dessert, they have a big showcase filled with donuts and pastries. In a city filled with chain eateries, it’s nice to find a place that is standing out by being fun, a little crazy, and very delicious. So Nuts! works for me.
