As informed previously we went asking for information on how the silver sneakers program worked. And no she was not by herself I was with her, so I know exactly what was said that day. From the moment I had to wait outside for an announcement stating a male was coming in, until we left. What gets me you continue to lay blame on someone who had no idea what silver sneakers was. But lay no blame on the staff who have been dealing with this program. We don’t even get a there might have been a misunderstanding. So im sorry if I continue to believe you just took advantage of a senior citizen. You got her involved in a contract instead of informing us silver sneakers perks provided a membership free of cost.

My mother is 65 years old. We went to get information about silver sneakers. Long story short she was put into a contract. A week later she gets her silver sneaker card. Come to find out gym membership to Shapes is include. When we questioned it, she was told she can freeze her account. Meaning she still ends up paying for a membership she don’t need. Basically they took advantage of a senior citizen!!!

Dirty and old with rude staff. I expected a friendlier reception when I went here since they were trying to sell me a membership at a high price. Not sure who trained these people in customer service because they have no skills whatsoever. Bathroom only had 3 stalls one of which was out of order. I almost fell in a pool of water in the locker room. Don’t waste your time or money on this gym.

National Fitness and Shapes are deceptive with their contracts. I do not recommend signing up with them unless you’re looking to receive a bill for 2 months after your membership expired. My contract was over in April(fully paid) and I moved to a different city. Today I received a bill for 2 months of membership fees. I called to inquire and they said it auto-renewed and a 60-day written cancellation notice is required. I do not appreciate businesses that do not inform their clients of auto-renewals by sending notice that your contract is expiring in 60 days. An e-mail reminder is not something offered apparently? Yet an e-mailed past due notice seems to be able to sent just fine. Legitimate and good business practice is what it comes down to and I will not be giving them anymore of my money. This is why people do not bother with the hassle of gym membership contracts. At this point I cannot blame them.

This place is horrible. I DONOT recommend using this gym. I signed up for a 2 year membership, and after a year I ended up moving about 40 minutes away. They refused to let me cancel my membership. So I kept paying my monthly fees without ever being able to actually go to the gym. Then, my membership ended in January, and I noticed the next month they were still charging me. So I called to figure out why, and their response was that after my membership is expired they automatically renew you. I NEVER gave them consent to renew my contract. They will never have my business again due to the fact that their main goal is to get as much money out of people as possible. Terrible business.

The owner of the gym Mary Nash is really nice when it comes to signing up the membership. After which — she pretends like she does not even know you. I joint the gym in August of 2013 and two weeks later I needed a surgery and my doctor said I could not do any strenuous actives. So, I had a talk with her about cancelling my membership — she pretty much brushed me off and handed a number and said you can call this # and speak to them about the membership — you would be able to cancel it but you can freeze it. I asked her what’s freezing it — she said you can put membership on hold. So, I called the 800 # she gave me and«National Fitness» who handles her billing — was as bad as Mary. Cold and rude. I never received any paperwork when I signed up for the membership — so, I had no clue the fact that the membership could not be canceled. I had a surgery — wow. I ended up putting the membership on hold for 2 month. After my surgery I ended up losing my job so, I told her because of this reason I could not keep the membership — she once again told me to call the 800#. The National Fitness did not let me cancel. Mary kept giving me the run around. Additional, I had asked her since I lost my job — if she had any opening — and if she needed an assistant. She had many staff members in and out of the gym — hardly staying 1 or 2 month. She said she would look at my application — she never called me or even acknowledge me when I was at the gym. When I asked her about — she said she would call me… I was practically at the gym every day. I am still waiting for the call. Talk about equal opportunity… She was happy hiring new staff members every month like clockwork. No wonder everyone left… I also heard one of the senior citizen complain about the mold and mildew in the shower — I told Mary about it but she never did anything about it… the place is discussing, dirty, cockroach calling on the celling and all the equipment is old and rusty bathroom tiles has mold in it, showers are nasty– I took a shower once — after that never. The management is horrible, there is no such thing as customer service, they will not let you out of the contract even if you had a legal medical excuse or even when you have left the state and has not utilized the gym for 3 month. Which is what happen with me. I left the state and Nation Fitness called me harassing me for payment for service not render –I was out of the state –900+ miles away from the gym. What a freaking joke — Like Katty g on the review said — you have to die or leave town to get out of the contract. I do have to thank shapes — I will never sign another contract or move back to Tampa — thanks Mary for being a great customer service provider — NOT ! I WOULDNEVERRECOMMENDYOURBUSINESSTOANYONE.

Overall, this place is great. I was weary of the women-only concept in that I thought they might not have enough high-intensity classes, machines or workouts that I’m used to. I was wrong, definitely enough of a range to keep me sweating and in shape. only complaint is that i wish they had more spinning/cycle classes(those ALWAYS are full), and stayed open a little later

If you join you have to die or leave town to cancel your contract.
