New ABC Seafood is truly an excellent Cantonese restaurant! Going there makes me feel like I’m in Hong Kong again. This restaurant makes the best seafood, everything is of course as fresh as coming out of a fish tank /aquarium(this is how you do Hong Kong cooking!), and you can ask the chef to make you any seafood dish. My favorites are the lobster with egg gravy and tilapia steamed Cantonese style. Just like in Hong Kong, the restaurant’s interior is simple and besides, people show up for the food. Try the beef chow fun too, a classic Cantonese dish. Anthony Bourdain will like this place!

I’ve lived in Tampa for 10 years and have been struggling to find an actual Cantonese Chinese restaurant that doesn’t serve disgustingly greasy food(which I have learned that’s what«New York Chinese food» really means) — It has been a challenge here and have almost given up hope after being to too many places that just serve gross food. And then I found ABC Seafood! I’ve now eaten here a few times and feel confident enough on their consistency to write a positive review. The dining room isn’t anything all that exciting, but it is clean and well organized. The food is great! So far I have had their hot and sour soup, egg rolls, crab ragoon, orange beef, cashew chicken, and chicken with XO sauce and have yet to be disappointed! The food is always hot, well prepared, and not greasy! I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for Cantonese style Chinese food!

Delicious authentic Cantonese food that brings me back to my roots and all presented with eye appeal. The owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming, and serve you like they appreciate your patronage and want you to come back. Their dim sum is top notch, my favorites fried shrimp balls, shrimp rice paste, shrimp stuffed eggplant, chicken feet, sticky rice, sesame balls, lo bok go, and beef chow fun with black bean sauce.(Super excellent) I think I have tried all the dim sum choices and all were delicious, as well as all the entrees I have tried. Consider my opinion, as I grew up in my father’s white table cloth Chinese restaurant and ate in New York Chinatown at least twice a month, driving in from Long Island.

I absolutely love love love chinese food, especially cantonese chinese food amd this place did not disappoint. We ordered the shrimp dumpling dimsum to start our meal, it was out nice and quick. For our entrees we got the salt n pepper shrimp and the eggplant chicken saltfish hotpot. Both were delicious!!! We had plenty of leftovers and they did well with reheating. It was like feasting all over again. The only thing was that service was a bit slow and the lady didn’t seem to understand me when I asked for some chili oil… After 3 tries she finally got it and that heat just added a bit more perfection to already great dishes. I can’t wait to go back to try a whole bunch of other things… I’m looking at you lobster.

This is the new restaurant opened by the original chef and owner of the ABC Seafood Restaurant in St. Pete. Like the old restaurant, the food is great, service is okay, and décor is terrible. The food is delicious. It is classic cantonese cuisine. Their specialty is seafood but they do most dishes very well. I highly recommend the duck and lobster. The food is also absurdly cheap. The service is okay. Language can be a problem and they get busy. The décor is bad. It is a new restaurant but it just has that dirty Chinese restaurant feel at times despite the fact that it is clean.

Not bad, but I think I like the original ABC better, and, honestly, I think China Yuan’s versions of the food I ordered are better. The tipoff was that the restaurant was nearly empty during lunch hours on a Saturday. That should be prime dim sum time. I had the beef chow fun, the siu mai and the pan fried turnip cakes. The noodles of the beef chow fun were overcooked. The siu mai tasted generic, and the turnip cakes were too bitter. The prices were also higher than I expected for the lack of ambience.

Came across this restaurant on Unilocal saw the awesome reviews and decided to try it out despite the higher than normal prices. My husband and I had high hopes but unfortunately we were let down. For starters on the menu my meal(sesame chicken combo) was supposed to come with rice or Lo mein and a side of soup. Husband came home and realized they never offered him the soup. The fried rice was bland and didn’t come with any pork or vegetables like other take out restaurants usually give. They also didn’t give any broccoli with the sesame chicken which Isnt common. As far as the chicken, it taste good but def. not worth the $ 10 that I spent on the meal. Husband ordered the seafood with vegetables and it came with a side of Lo mein for an extra charge of .50. My husband rates his platter a 5⁄10 but was not worth $ 15 he spent. Lastly, when he arrived to the restaurant to order(he tried calling ahead but no one answered) he arrived an hour before closing time and he says he sat at the counter for 15 minutes until someone finally took his to go order. We most likely will not be returning.

The server was pleasant and very helpful. Unfortunately, that couldn’t quite make up for some of the issues:. Turnip cake: underdone & needs more sausage or shrimp in it. Chicken feet: need more stewing. Underdone & too chewy. Sticky rice: undercooked. Odd flavour. Sui Mai: ok. Pan fried chive dumplings: excellent. Lovely golden crispy exterior stuffed with succulent shrimp & chives Salt & pepper shrimp: shell on – yummy. If you are the new management & are offering different dishes, PLEASE get rid of the old menu. The first three things we asked for were no longer being offered, yet we’re still on the dim sum menu.

The dim sum is ok but waited two hours for 5 dishes. Each came out one by one. When I asked the server why it was taking so long he said it was being made fresh. There were three tables seated on a Sat. afternoon. Can’t imagine when it is busy. I won’t be going back with that kind of wait.

On an evening of just running into my old favorite places, this was quite a surprise. It was no longer what it used to be, but now a Chinese seafood restaurant. I was already in the parking lot, so decided to give them a try. I only got an order of Dim sum, pork steamed purses. They were well made, had a very tasty and fragrant filling. They were a bit undercooked, Wichita made them taste doughy and chewy. I’ll take this off my list the next time I am in the area. What’s a girl to do? Sometimes it’s better to stick with what you know, even though I enjoy a walk on the wild side.

Formally known as Chopstix in Tampa is the absolute best Chinese take out/delivery I have ever had!!! The one con is that delivery usually takes over an hour, so order ahead of time. We’ve only tried the pork popstix, fried rice, vegetable lo mein, sweet & sour chicken, and krab rangoon. Those are all amazing!

This restaurant used to be the old«Chopstix» but recently underwent a change in ownership. I normally come here when I’m craving seafood because most of the seafood(lobster, clams, fish, and shrimp) here are kept fresh. I don’t particularly like their dim sum as much as the old place but their normal order off the menu dishes are delicious.

So we decided to try it out since it’s closer than out favorite dim sum restaurant. It was previously caked chopstix and we weren’t crazy about it. So we were going it was better and there were new owners. First impression… Nothing was done to the interior at all, the walls are still dirty and paint is wearing off, the lobster tank was dirty and cloudy and it had a weird odor. I feel like investing in paint wouldn’t hurt, and maybe a diffuser for the smell. The staff. The seemed friendly, although get not being able to tell me if it was new owners or a new name had me curious. The food): We ordered our typical favorites and a couple new dishes. The book tripe had no flavor and was seriously undercooked. The honeycomb tripe tasted bad, I wouldn’t eat it, my husband did so the jury is still out on that. The chicken feet were good! The sticky rice was definitely old and reheated as the rice was hard, but it coulda been good if it was fresh. The shrimp rice paste was just ok. I didn’t even think you could screw that up so I feel like it should always be great. The shrimp balls were good and the stuffed puppers were good. Over all, I was less than impressed. Over half of what we got wasn’t good. At the end she brought us a dessert, sweet water it something, had honey dew melon. It was actually really good. The price. Well that doesn’t much matter if the food isn’t any good. In the end, as you may have guessed, we won’t be back. For a close quick dim sum we’d go to Hong Kong house on Fowler and if I have enough time I’d go to tc choy who never disappoints!

I’ve been to this restaurant when it was called Chopstix but today was my 1st time back with the new owners. I came for my lunch hour. I was seated immediately. The servers were really friendly and kept checking on me. I ordered off of their dim sum menu ~ roast pork taro(fried taro dumpling), shrimp rice paste, and fried donut rice paste. I also ordered their Hong Kong style wonton noodle soup. They only had the lunch menu and dim sum menu out but they have a larger menu for dinner. They don’t have the dim sum push carts, you order the dishes by checking it off their dim sum menu with the pencil on the table. I heard the workers speaking in Cantonese which is a good sign when you’re eating dim sum. The food wasn’t too long of a wait. I got the shrimp rice paste($ 3.25) first. It was drenched in the sweet soy sauce that comes with rice paste. Pretty standard. Each roll had 2 large shrimp that had a slight funky taste though but I wasn’t too put off. The HK style wonton noodle soup($ 7.95) came next and it was HUGE! it was family size and there was a serving spoon and a side bowl. I felt almost embarrassed that I ordered such a large soup for myself. Although, the bowl was large, the flavor was lacking and I will not be getting this again. It’s so hard to get a decent bowl of HK wonton noodle soup in Tampa! The broth was a little bland. The vegetables inside the soup looked like they weren’t fully cleaned. The wontons had shrimp inside(with the slight funky taste again). I think I only enjoyed the thin egg noodles. The rest of the dim sum came out — fried donut rice paste($ 3.25). Crispy dough wrapped with rice paste and then cut up into bite size pieces, sprinkled with sesame seeds. It’s my aunt’s favorite dim sum dish! Their version was standard. Came with a side of sweet soy sauce. I presume it’s the same soy sauce as the shrimp rice paste but it did taste a little different. I just kept dipping the pieces into the shrimp rice paste bowl. Roast pork taro($ 3.25) 3 ~ this is my #1 favorite dim sum dish that I always order. Although this version was still good, I was slightly disappointed. There wasn’t much flavor in the pork filling and the outside wasn’t as flaky and messy as I usually like it. Not a bad dish at all but I’ve had better. Overall, the food was not bad. I’m going to most likely come back and try the other things on the menu. I was full and had a lot of leftovers. However, ABC will not be my 1st choice when it comes to dim sum or authentic Chinese. Since it’s close to work and they also deliver, I would order lunch again.

Thanks to the Boon-meister’s fine skills at selecting our dinner options at New ABC Seafood Restaurant, my hubby and I were happily satisfied. We had quite a bit of a spread including soup with tofu, greens, and pork, clams, flounder fish with green beans, lobster, super fiery spicy tofu, beef chow fun, beef with chinese broccoli, and clams. Everything was really good. My faves were: Flounder fish with the green beens Beef chow fun Soup with tofu, greens, and pork I tried sake for the first time. It was nice and warm, and that felt good, but oh that alcohol is pretty darn strong for me. I swear if I drank it again, I’d drink it as a shot, just so I wouldn’t have to taste it. It needs something. Make it sweet, or something. Service was good dealing with us awesome people. They were always there to check in with us. They even let Nick S. bang on the pots and pans. That was his highlight of dinner. Will be back here for sure. There are so many menu items to choose from. There has to be something for everyone.

This review is just based off our dim sum lunch on one occasion, so I don’t know what their regular dinner plates are like. My mom and I came for lunch to sample a few different dim sum dishes. Super friendly service! Our server was very attentive and our food came out quickly. We ordered 6 different things(so much food!) we got the Krab Rangoon, fried shrimp balls, roast beef taro, sui mai, fried sesame balls, and baked pork buns. Our least favorite was the rangoons, they were pretty greasy and less-than-average in flavor. The shrimp balls were good, but also a little greasy. Sui mai were one of our favorites. The roast pork taro was another favorite– we’ve never had it before but it has a lovely, light crispy outer shell with a tasty taro/meat filling. We ordered baked buns, but were served steamed pork buns. They were still delicious so I have no qualms with that– the filling was spot on. Fried sesame balls didn’t have much filling and weren’t as sweet as we were expecting. Overall, I would be willing to try this place again to try a few different things(you can’t beat the low price!), but my mom and I both agreed we liked the dim sum at our usual place at SushiKo better.

Great Chinese restaurant. The old ABC was located at St. Pete and now the the owner move to this location not long ago. When they just first open I was not impress. Today they are really do a good job. We have order a salt and pepper Whole Lobster and three dim sum dishes for dinner. The dim sum are shrimp stuff egg plant, leak steam dumpling and the beef tripe. The egg plant is well prepared since the skin is soft enough. Obviously the egg plant is deep fried with ground shrimp paste and hot plate grilled the surface and added the black beam sauce. If the chef did not prepare correctly the skin will be tough to bite through and you will end up leave the skin on the side. However this chef did correctly and is yum to consume. Today feature is the the Lobster. They are running the special with each lobster $ 15. Can’t beat this price. They can prepare ginger scallion, Hong Kong style with egg white, steam, salt and pepper… You got to try it now while they are running the special. The way they have the lobster cut to 10 pieces. The first cut is remove head then the crawl. The body is cut to 6 pieces. They will deep fried and stir fry with salt, green scallion, onion and jalapeño. This dish you need to learn how to eat from the shell. If you have group 4 or more, I recommend to order the fillet flounder. The fish meat fillet in cube and easy to eat. Many people don’t know the fried side bone can be eaten. The side bone is taste like crunchy yum food. Please be sure to chew or crush before you swallow because some time you chose too close to the main bone that cannot be swallow. Overall the service is good today. We have been back and will be back for more.

We seem to have a number of Asian restaurants in northern Hillsborough County that are now offering really delicious Chinese food along with a full dim sum menu. New ABC Seafood Restaurant is located along Fletcher Avenue in the USF section of town. You’ll find them in a strip mall on the south side of Fletcher in between Ho Ho Choy and the Kaleisia Tea Lounge. At one time this restaurant was known as Chopstix, but they changed ownership about a year ago, re-vamped the menu, and re-branded the place. You’ll find seafood tanks in the restaurant where you can select your live tilapia, lobsters, and Dungeness crabs, and have them prepared for your meal. «That’s right Nemo and Sebastian, keep staring back at me, but know that the two of you two are headed for the kitchen table!» Muhahahaha! If you’re in the mood for Chinese food, New ABC has a big selection of all of your Americanized favorites, along with even more traditional Chinese dishes. The emphasis is on fresh seafood, so you’ll find cold jellyfish, fish maw soup, lobsters, crab, scallops, steamed fish, mussels, conch, frog legs, snails, razor clams, and shrimp. Those all pair up with chicken, beef, duck, squib, fried rice, noodle dishes, and lots of veggies and tofu. If some of that makes you a bit queasy, then just stick to the«Gringo» section of the menu, and you’ll be fine. They have many of the familiar Chinese entrées with egg rolls, rice, and soup. I was in the mood for some dim sum when I was there for Sunday lunch, and so I ordered a few of my favorites, and was not disappointed. I had steamed shrimp dumplings, fried fish balls, pan-fried chive dumplings, salt & pepper shrimp, and ¼ of a tea-infused roasted crispy duck. It was a lot of very delicious food which was brought out quickly to my table. If my buddy Coty had been with me we would have added the snow pea tips with garlic sauce, Century eggs, and steamed chicken feet — cause she’s like all adventurous, don’t ya know? I thought that the dim sum menu at New ABC was quite good, and certainly on par with the number of other dim sum outlets around town. This restaurant is focused more on fresh seafood, and you’ll definitely see a few things that will be new to you. My advice is to try some of the great dim sum options around town, and find the one that works for you.

Super fresh seafood in tanks. Salt and pepper shrimps were amazing. Ginger scallion tilapia was perfectly cooked and much cheaper than Orlando prices. Duck skin was crispy and so yummy! They make their own hot sauce which is unique, tasty and addictive. Loved our first visit here we will be coming back!
