It’s not bad Korean food, especially for a food truck. I tried the bibimbap, and it was okay. I wish it was served with bulgogi instead of skirt steak. Also, I wish the mushrooms were pickled. For the price($ 13), the amount of food was fair.

So much flavor and spice! I ordered the bibimbap with chicken bulgogi. I don’t like runny egg yolk, so I asked them to fry mine hard. Love it! If you can’t handle spice, tell them to go easy on the chili sauce or opt out of it entirely. I love Thai food, so it was delicious for me. This is my first time having Korean food and I really liked it. I would recommend my dish in the future.

I must have been Korean in a different life because I could seriously eat Korean food every day. It might be a tie between Korean and Vietnamese food as my top favorite cuisine. Mmm BAP serves up some delicious food, I was thoroughly impressed. I was able to FINALLY try them out at the Seminole Height’s Taste of Asia event at Generation Food Court Tampa. I could tell how popular they were by the ridiculous line already forming at the start of this event. I had some bites(ok lots of bites lol) from my lovely friend, Anna M’s bibimbap topped w/bulgogi dish and was in love. Lots of flavors going on and the serving size was huge! The bulgogi was tender and very flavorful! I wanted to go back and order some to go, but didn’t want to wait back in line. Regrets.

So i eat at almost every food truck that comes to my work. I love almost all of them. This was the first time I have been to this truck and the wait time was horrible. Normally I walk over get my food and i’m back in 20 minutes. Today was a 45 minute lunch, and I didn’t eat. As I was walking to my job, I entered the parking garage and almost instantly turned my nose and looked around to see if there was a dead animal or old garbage. As I walked into my building I realized the smell was following me and I said to myself, no please don’t be my food. I go up 6 flights to my desk and instantly people are looking around to see what smells. It’s my food!!! I opened it and look at it and it looked fine but the smell was horrible. I wrapped it in a plastic bag, tied it tight and threw it away. So I cannot rate it on taste but I also could not eat it based on that smell. I would have been sick I think, the meat had to be bad? I love Thai food, Mongolian, chinese, I’m not a plain jane.

If you are new to Korean food, as I am, then Mmmbap should be your first tasting step into this cuisine because their signature dish, the bibmibap, a Korean staple dish as I have learned, packs a flavor punch that will make you an instant fan of Korean food. The dish has garlic infused spinach, zucchini, seasoned bean sprouts, tamari braised soybeans, carrots, and shitake mushrooms on top of steamed sticky rice, topped with an egg. All the vegetables were incredibly fresh. It sounded like a really odd combination but I went for it and I was happy I did. The thick Spicy Gochujang sauce really gives the dish its magic. You will want to buy bottles of that stuff just to cook with. It is hot, but it’s a good heat; you don’t get the face sweats with this. besides the amazing flavor, I love how versatile the signature dish is: make it vegetarian, vegan or add meat. Everybody is happy! So thanks Mmmbap for being so awesome!

As a New Yorker and a Jewish man, I love me some Asian food. Yes, that’s a stereotype, but as a member of both categories, I am entitled to perpetuate the stereotype. Typically, this stereotype holds true for Chinese food, Japanese and Sushi, and Thai, but having never had Korean before, I wasn’t sure it would continue to hold true. It did it did it did. The folks at Generation Food Court in Seminole Heights put together a Taste of Asia Food Truck festival on this day. I arrived looking forward to spending some time with some food… and some friends, but mostly the food. Typically, I am always disappointed in food truck rallies like this. I go, expecting to be able to eat from multiple trucks, but these food trucks never do it right. If you’re a food truck — no, I am not calling you fat — and you’re sitting on a city block during lunch, then yes, you serve full size meals. But if you’re at a food truck rally, wouldn’t it make more sense to serve small plates or tapas for ½ the price? I think you’d get a lot more customers that way because people don’t need to choose between your truck and another — they can go to both without breaking their bank or walking away unable to fit into their clothes. Anyway, food truck mismanagement aside, I did not have the same problem here because most of the menus weren’t great. There were items at each truck I would try, but nothing excited me and if there was anything that looked good, the lines were long and not moving, which pushed me away. However, when I saw(a) the short line at Mmm Bap and(b) the menu, I couldn’t wait to try. When I finally got to the front of the line(more on this in a bit), I tried their specialty, the Bibimbap. Copying directly from their menu: Garlic spinach, zucchini, seasoned bean sprouts, tamari braised soybeans, carrots, and shitake mushrooms on top of steamed sticky rice, topped with an egg. Spicy Gochujang sauce, sesame oil and toasted seasoned gim(nori). I got it without the mushrooms to eliminate the icky factor — if I want fungus, I’ll just… no, never mind, I’ll never want fungus. I also added the spicy pork(per menu: tender sliced pork shoulder marinated in a spicy Korean chili pepper sauce). How to describe this? Yummy works. Delicious works. Oh-my-good-lord-holy-hell-what-is-this-party-in-my-mouth is probably more accurate. This was spicy without causing me to sweat too much(oh, don’t worry, I’m fine — there was lots of sweat — but it’s still really hot in Florida). It was flavorful. It was the perfect introduction to something I have been missing. I need the recipe and a Korean grocer nearby. I would like to deduct a star for management of the line, but I won’t. It seems their method of serving was to take 4 or 5 orders, and then stop. Make those orders, arrange things or clean in the truck, and the take more orders. Therefore, you would move fairly quickly, and then wait for 15 minutes before another order was taken. I got to the front and the gentleman taking orders asked me to wait a minute. He then prepared to wipe down a counter, arrange the rice cookers, fluff and mix the rice, box up other orders, etc etc. It was at least 10 minutes before he finished and then took my order. I understand those things need to be done, but maybe mix it up a bit, because standing for 10 – 15 minutes without moving and without having an order taken is very frustrating. I have no basis for judging whether or not this was authentic. Having never been to a Korean restaurant, for all I know, Mmm Bap is to Korean as Outback is to Steakhouses. It’s a shame i don’t know better, considering I understand there are a couple of really good Korean restaurants in Tampa. Suffice it to say though, for now, I am a big fan of Mmm Bap.

I was lucky, I was first in line at the MMM Bap Food Truck on Saturday at the Taste of Asia Food Truck Festival held by Generation Food Court Tampa. Dan was very friendly, helpful, and very patient with me as he described my options to assist in preparing my dish not too spicy. I also appreciated that he wasn’t making fun of me for being such a wimp in terms of my meal being less spicy. I decided on the Bibimbap with Steak Bulgogi. For those who are not familiar, MMM Bap’s signature dish is made with Sticky Rice with garlic spinach, blanched bean sprouts, zucchini, seasoned shiitake mushrooms, braised soybeans, kimchi, crispy seasoned seaweed, topped with an overeasy egg and spicy Korean chili paste. This dish was very good and flavorful, especially with the Steak Bulgogi. It is easy to see why Mee Ae and Dan Wolney’s fabulous food truck had the longest line of all the trucks that night… their food is fantastic. Even better, on September 13th on Food Network, an episode airs in which Mmm Bap competes in Cutthroat Kitchen. I highly recommend this food truck. Don’t miss out — try them soon!

Wow, they are good. I have been waiting for them to come to St Pete for quite sometime. Finally, we got the taste tonight! Ordered three things: Bibimp Bap with Bulgogi, Bulgogi Tacos and Chicken Tacos. EVERYTHINGISABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS! My stomach is full, but my mouth is still watering and craving for more! Bibimp Bap is spicy. Good spicy. If you don’t like spicy food, check it out first. The owners are very nice. We had take-out. Everything is nicely ready for us. THANKYOU! Cannot wait to take out from them again and again and again. I wish they will be around St Pet more often. They post their schedules on their facebook. If you have not tried them, look them up and try it. Very freshly made and very tasty food!!!

We had a chance to try this food truck when they were at Green Bench. The food was amazing! The flavors were spot on and everything tasted fresh. My favorite dish… the bibimbap with beef was delicious! I’m looking forward to trying everything on the menu! Hopefully they’ll be back in St Pete soon!

It was almost 5:30, and many of the food trucks at the rally had run out of food. Me being me, of course I got hungry at the very end. I furiously ran around the rally looking for an open truck that did not have a huge line. Then my boyfriend suggested the Korean truck that he visited earlier. Well, for being a Unilocaler, I am a bit closed off to new cuisine. I am an American fare type gal. However, I was at the«World’s Largest Food Truck Rally» and in a bit of a pickle. I had taken a bite of his taco earlier in the afternoon, and it did not seem too bad. I mean, I could have stood in line with him for another 20 minutes to get some sustenance, but I was getting hangry. I rushed over to Mmm BAP hoping they still had food. I got discouraged as I approached, because there was not a line. I tentatively approached the truck, and asked the man in the window if they still had food. I think I sounded like a dummy, but he was very friendly. AND, he said«yes». Eureka! I ordered the Chicken Bulgogi taco, which was chicken(duh), and their bulgogi marinade. I really enjoyed the taco. It was quite different from any taco I have had, since I usually get Americanized tacos. I was glad that I went out of my comfort zone and tried a new cuisine. Oh, did I mention their food is gluten free?

I love Korean food and now there’s a Korean food truck?! YES! I was able to stop by at the Food Truck Festival this last weekend and was excited to to see Mmm Bap. They only had two items on the menu the Chicken and Beef bulgogi which was a bummer because I was hoping for something else(possible something w/rice since their name is Mmm Bap which means Mmm Rice) Korean tacos are somewhat old news, but I went for the beef bulgogi anyways. The flavor is there and with the gochu sauce you’ll definitely get a kick. I just wasn’t in love and thought the taco could have been thought out more to either make it worth the money or be unique so I’ll remember it. I might just eat way too much Korean food and am a little tough on them. I would love to see if they add anything else on the menu and would love to try it one day. If you haven’t actually had a Korean taco before I do suggest it! I was just expecting a bit more.

Went to a huge food truck rally yesterday and this truck was by far the best. I was shocked that they didn’t have a huge line, but I think it might have been because they were only offering two items(chicken or beef Korean tacos). I had the beef taco and it was AMAZING, by far the best Korean taco I’ve ever had. This was only the second truck we hit up yesterday and it pretty much ruined the other trucks for me, nothing else could compete with the quality, flavor, and freshness of their food. My only regret is that I didn’t try the chicken taco too. I looked them up on facebook after the event and saw that their food is gluten free as well, so that’s good to know if you have that kind of dietary concern. They also don’t use dry spices, only fresh, which explains the extraordinary flavor. I’ll be on the lookout for the next time I can catch this truck outside of an event like this, dying to try their bibimbap!

After my first stop at a food truck at the World’s Largest Food Truck Rally, I really didn’t want to order anything else. I didnt like what I got. 2nd time I stopped somewhere else, didn’t like it AGAIN. I took a break, & we enjoyed ourself at the Tampa Bay Pet Expo also going on, then went back outside one more time. Stacy Z. Said go to Mmm bap, and get the Korean Taco. It’s the best thing all day. I stopped by, and in fact they closed for a bit. I can confirm the one beef bulgogi taco was the best thing we had. I sat with other people at a table, and they loved it too. If you are there today for the last day, don’t get too excited until you try their Korean tacos. You will love it, & then don’t waste your money on other not so great food options.
