Fresh cakes, great coffee, interesting desserts. Really good — skip Bern’s dessert room.

A-Ok is the perfect description of Chocolate Pi. I came here on a specific mission: I’ve always thought the best slice of cake in Tampa came from Wright’s Gourmet, but after seeing reviews here, my opinion started to waver. What if the cake was sweeter on the other side? I had to find out who is the King of Cakes. Starting with the cake itself: Chocolate Pi’s cakes are a bit denser, but don’t lack a good amount of moisture for a good cake. Definitely nothing to complain about, plus the flavor options are pretty primo(can’t go wrong with anything salted caramel or peanut butter!) Wright’s Gourmet on the other hand aren’t as dense(they seem to have more air bubbles throughout), and are even more moist than Chocolate Pi’s, making them literally melt in your mouth. Frosting: Chocolate Pi’s icing is just as dense as it’s cake, and verging on too sweet(which is almost even sinful to say). It’s almost as if you can taste the grains of sugar in it, which is a bit much. I really did love the flavors though, the salted caramel frosting actual had a nice bite of salt to enhance the sweetness, and the framboise slice was a nice complement to the salted caramel cake with a bit of a lighter taste and real berries between the layers Wright’s frosting is lighter, but by no means is a «whipped» frosting; it has a good thickness, but isn’t overwhelmingly dense. Both bakeries do a great job of frosting their cakes, I love me my frosting! Size: multiply one slice of Chocolate Pi’s cake slices by 3 and that’s the size of a Wright’s Gourmet slice. The slices we got today at Chocolate Pi were pretty tiny. There’s no contest who wins this category. And yes, size does matter. Cost: Both slices of cake cost $ 5, and keeping in mind the Wright’s slice is 3x the size of Chocolate Pi’s cake, wouldn’t you prefer more cake?!(I know I do!) Chocolate Pi is adorable inside, and has a great display, which is great and all, but we’re here for one thing: delicious cake. And that beats out great bakery ambience any day. I know people will have their own preferences in cake, but for me, the winner in this unofficial contest is clear: Wright’s Gourmet takes the cake(*da dum tss*)

Today was my 3rd visit to Chocolate Pi. This time I brought my mother along with me. I knew she would like the whole experience. It’s an indulgence that we don’t get very often. It’s well worth the visit. This was for coffee and dessert. I had a slice of the Framboise cake. It was just as delicious as the Champagne Celebration cake that I had on my last visit. The raspberry jam and vanilla bean cake toned down the sweetness of the frosting(which is super sweet). These cakes are perfect for special occasions. I can see why they are very popular. My mother had the Chocolate Raspberry Mousse cake. It’s a chocolate lover’s delight. It’s very rich. I think this dessert is better when shared with another person. Neither one of us would have been able to eat the whole thing. We paired our desserts with a Salted Rose Latte. It was a delicious combination! The only item that I’m not a fan of is their macaron. I’ve had a couple of different flavors and they were either too dry or too sweet. Maybe it was an off day when I tried them as other reviews have raved about them. I’ll have to try another one on my next visit. I received a check-in offer for a free macaron with my next $ 10 purchase. That will come in handy. I highly recommend this place for anyone with a sweet tooth.

I wish that I had actually read the reviews and not gone just by the rating. That way I could have read the recommendations. The guy serving us was polite and patient, but did not offer suggestions nor did he ask what we like. He may have been new, who knows. I chose the Banana Pudding in a jar, 6 macarons, and the Wedding cupcake. The pudding was delish. If you return the jar with the lid, you get $ 1 credit. The macarons were very good. I especially liked the pistachio. Next up to try is the key lime and the vanilla. I totally missed them and didn’t see them till after I paid. The cupcake was just ok. Way to much frosting. Next time I’ll take one of the cake slices as suggested on here. Plus I’ll definitely try the chocolate pi. The shop is small but super cute. Everything is nicely displayed and it can be difficult to choose. Makes you want to take one of each of everything. Well, at least that’s what happened to me. Parking is easy and they have designated spots in the garage. We will return and be more prepared. Oh, and they have a Unilocal check-in offer for a free macaron with $ 10 purchase. I checked in on our way out, so I’ll have to use it next time!

So good! Skip dessert at your dinner spot and come here. You won’t be disappointed by the large variety of selections to choose from. Also, ask them for recommendations, based on your preferences. I found them very helpful.

This is my first time at Chocolate Pi. It’s a small café style bakery with cute little benches and tables. The food is definitely freshly made and hand made! The customer service is greeted with a smile and gently spoken. The price is a little up there, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re in the mood for sweets and ready to splurge.

I’m pretty much in love with this place. It kind of reminds me of my favorite dessert shop/bakery in San Francisco. They had a wide selection for such a small place. I think it’s definitely worth stopping by. I had this place bookmarked for awhile but then went back and forth about going there. Who wants to waste calories and money on hyped up lame desserts? I would eat their bons bons all day every day if I could. I want a whole box to myself right now. The chocolate pi was also very good since the chocolate was not overly sweet so it complemented the banana pudding part really well. The only item I wasn’t crazy about was the chocolate dipped cupcake. It was more like frosting with cake as the topping since the frosting was maybe 4 times the size of the cake.

One of my favorite places in town. I get my best coffee in town from this place. And they have the best sweets also. My favorite it the pistachio macaron. The worker is like friends to me now. They know what I want as soon as I drive by and the will start making my special coffee in the best way possible. I wrote this review because I go there everyday and I think it is not fair that I get the best service every time but I don’t write my Opinion.

I love the décor and mouth watering selection. They also serve coffee and tea. There is a nice seating area. This is also a great place to buy dessert or chocolate gifts. Also their window wedding cake display is amazing. I only tried a chocolate, banana chocolate mousse tart, and a macaron. I will be back to try more.

My girlfriend recommended this unique little dessert shop and it’s been a go-to whenever we’re in Tampa. My absolute favorite from here is the Raspberry Chocolate Mousse cake. A delicious blend of raspberry and chocolate it’s a very indulgent dessert. It has fresh raspberries on top and raspberry filling inside so it is on the sweeter side of desserts. It’s soft and moist and doesn’t fall apart when being eaten. The signature Chocolate Pi is a creamy chocolate mousse on top of an even creamier custard, over fresh bananas and held together by a flavorful pie crust. The flavors go together beautifully and it is an exceptional dessert. Nowhere close to the level of sweetness of the raspberry cake, which some people will prefer. They always have plenty of these so it’s easy to give it a try. The S’mores mason jar is another one of my favorites and it’s an awesome interpretation of a s’mores. It’s a layered dessert with graham cracker brûlée as a layer, chocolate mousse as a layer and a meringue/marshmallow layer. It’s creamy and it’s rich and it’s delicious. It seems to be their most popular one as it’s almost always sold out. Their small chocolates are well balanced and have good flavor. You can tell they’re freshly made and a lot of care goes into them. The macarons are plentiful and come in numerous flavors. The ones that stand out above all are the pistachio, the raspberry rose and the champagne. Each have unique flavors and really stand out. Finally my last recommendation is their milkshake. I got the strawberry ice cream and graham cracker ice cream milk shake. It is so full of flavor and you can taste they’re homemade I never wanted it to end. It isn’t heavy or filling and it is the perfect consistency. They have multiple homemade flavors to choose from and you can mix them together if you wish. Their homemade sodas are also full of flavor and really give your tastebuds something to think about. I had the«Sally’s Song» which is lavender, mint and strawberry. Combined they taste incredible and you can really taste the individual flavors. It was a pleasure to have and I will definitely be trying their other flavors. The staff gives excellent recommendations and they encourage sampling of the ice cream and coffees. They make suggestions based on tastes and likes and can explain, in detail, every aspect of each dessert. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Highly recommend this place whenever you’re in the area!

After a hectic morning my daughter and I stopped by for an afternoon pick-me up. As mentioned in other reviews, Chocolate Pi is on the bottom floor of the fanciest hotel in town, directly across from Bern’s. We pulled in about 3pm and the friendly valet directed us to the parking for Chocolate Pi. We walked in and I immediately noticed the cute, very Hyde Park, hipster décor. We were greeted at the counter and placed our order. A cappuccino and salted caramel cupcake for me and a chocolate pi for my daughter with just water. We also ordered 5 macaroons to go. Standing at the counter you’re tempted by the view of multiple cakes, macaroons, desserts in mason jars, ice cream. a haven for dessert lovers. Seating is first come, seat yourselves. We found a spot on the converted church pew inside at a little café table and sat down. Within moments we were brought our desserts and they were like works of art. They were plated on pink and black plates which were miss-matched and looked right out of an antique store, very chic. The Chocolate pi my daughter ordered was a small round milk chocolate mousse, which had 2 fresh raspberries on top, dark raspberry ganache inside, with what appeared to be a dark chocolate coating outside. My daughter is a chocolate addict so she took a big bite. Alas, it was too rich for her. She poked at it to get to the raspberry filling inside and ate a little but also declared it was too sugary for her liking. I tried a bite, the silky chocolate mouse was infused with raspberry flavor. Different, not bad but it was very rich. My cappuccino was very hot and had two beautiful hearts created in the foam on top. I tried a forkful of my salted caramel cupcake. The icing on the cupcake was pure sugar, it overwhelmed everything else. In between the icing and the cake of the cupcake was caramel. I sampled just the caramel, delicious. I sampled just the cake of the cupcake which was moist and fluffy– cake perfection. I sampled just the icing and was overwhelmed again by the sugar. Eating the cupcake all together, the icing was the only thing I could taste. We took home 5 macaroons, birthday cake, espresso, champagne, strawberry, and salted caramel. None but the champagne is worth mentioning. I know they change their menu frequently, there were lots of other desserts to choose from. The service was nothing to write home about. I will update my review if we stop in again but for now, just a 3 for me.

Very cute shop! I only had bought one heart shaped macaron covered with chocolate but it was super good! I definitely want to go back to have afternoon tea there sometime soon! It would be much better if you aren’t looking at valet parking when you sit outside.

For my 400th review, I choose to write about my Chocolate Pi experiences up to this point. My first visit, I drove off without even going inside. The place looked too small, and I didn’t know about the parking(there are free spots reserved, just tell the attendant where you’re going). Nick S. & Tina K. took us for our second trip, and this time, we actually went inside and tried a few things out. I was still skeptical, but after my first bite of a macaron(not to be confused with macaroon), I was hooked. I’m not sure why, or what makes these better, but they are. They just taste better than other macarons I’ve had in the area. That goes for most of the items in their small inventory. I’ve been back a couple of times since, and tried a few more items. There are a few things I don’t like. First and foremost, the price. These little sweet treats are expensive! Everything at Chocolate Pi is expensive! They don’t have much to choose from. What you see is what you get, and what you see isn’t much. Parking is tight, but I’ve never had a problem finding a space(once I figured out how it worked). Also limited is the seating, to which they have both inside and outside. Only a few customers can make it seem cramped. The service has always been pleasant and helpful. Overall, the quality of the product brings this place up from a three star review to a four star review. If the price was adjusted, good definitely give this place 5 stars, but for now, the price is the only thing preventing a 5 star rating.

Why buy a soda in a can when you can have a soda flavor lavender tea, strawberry with fresh mint. No fructose corn syrup in these little soda pops. They have some unique fun flavors, as well as seasonal ones too. It’s to help us Floridians remember that there are actually 4 seasons In a year. Let’s face it, we wouldn’t even know fall has come into place if it wasn’t for pumpkin spice being sold everywhere. I will say their macarons were some of the best I’ve had and the rose latte just set everything off. Their dessert and beverage menu are glitz and glamor. If your not in the mood for unique fun flavors and your more vanilla without pizazz. This may not be the place for you. They have beautifully decorated cakes, pies, hot chocolates, teas, house made sodas, finger delights, fresh marshmallows and much more. Parking is free. Just let the valet know your there for the chocolate pi restaurant. Bön apetite!

Hands down one of the best dessert shops I have been to. This small bake shop is connected to the Epicurean Hotel. The décor is a mix of modern and old school charm. There are a number of table on the inside and outside. The glass cases are always stocked with a number of goodies to choose from slices of cake, cupcakes, desserts in a jar, homemade ice cream, to their version of Bön Bons. We purchased during our three days staying at the hotel a few items. We had the salted caramel cupcake so so good. The expresso brownie cake I think it’s called which was also pretty good. The Vanilla bean cake with raspberry preserve and fresh raspberries. The coconut cake which my wife said was almost as good as her grandmothers. The staff is very professional, knowledgable, and helpful. Most impressive I came in on a busy Saturday while the decorators were in the back working hard to get wedding cakes out etc with a special request. I asked could they decorate the top tier of wedding cake we kept for a year out of tradition to cut on our anniversary day(the next day). In less than an hour the plain fondant cake that traveled all the way from Jamaica and was in the freezer for a year was transformed. It was completely piped with buttercream rosettes and a pink buttercream rose on top. This was far beyond my expectations and to top it off they would not charge me but of course I left a nice tip. Again thank you guys so much you are all the best.

I’ve only been once and I’m already excited to go back! Chocolate pi is a small, old fashioned bakery and dessert shop in the epicurean hotel across the street from Berns steakhouse. They serve freshly made, gourmet desserts of all types, perfect for a late night treat! They have cupcakes, cakes, pies, macaroons, mason jar cupcakes, and coffee, tea, hot chocolate! I had a hard time choosing a dessert, but went with the rocky road cake a loved it! Super rich and moist, sweet fluffy frosting, and little marshmallows tucked in as well! Can’t wait to come back and try other desserts too!

Chocolate Pi is this eclectic little place right across from Bern’s and the Epicurean hotel. They have a pretty extensive dessert menu for a little shop that probably only seats 15 people at any time. I imagine they get a lot of to go business from the surrounding restaurants and hotel. They also provide the macaroons that are on the Epicurean’s dessert menu. I had their strawberry and champagne cake which was everything I could ask for. It was light and fruity with a very fresh strawberry taste. The frosting was a bit sweet, but I’m into that sort of thing so it was fine by me. Their menu/offerings took some time to peruse and decide because it all looked so good. I didn’t have any of their drinks/coffee, but they also looked awesome. Worth the try and I’ll definitely be going back to try something new.

Quaint little dessert shop with a modern flare, Chocolate PI serves cakes, cupcakes, macaroons and toffee. It also serves hot beverages but we only got cupcakes, macaroons, and toffee. Macaroons were delicious and well packaged! There is indoor and outdoor seating available. When we went it seemed that customers came to get desserts and not necessarily to do work though the café would certainly be a good place to read a book. The pricing is in line with most dessert places $ 2 macaroons and $ 3 cupcakes. I wish this place ran specials on desserts or on bulk orders.

Swing and a miss… Everything was wayyyyy too sweet from the blueberry cake, to the salted rose latte to the macaron(which was free after spending $ 10, Unilocal check-in). I have a sweet tooth and I still thought everything was sugar overload. Aside from that, the blueberry cake was dry. I didn’t taste the«salted» part of the rose latte but I’m not sure that would’ve made much of a difference as the sugar overpowered the flavors. The chocolate chip macaron was OK. Not something I would buy so thankfully it was free. The girls working there were also sweet but in a good way and I liked their hats, which match some of the vintage features of the café. The prices are a tad high but since their drinks and desserts are unique, it’s worth paying a premium. Unfortunately, they weren’t executed to perfection. I give them an extra star for thinking outside the box with their flavors. So 3 stars. Thanks again for the macaron!
