We walked into a very modest but very spacious and relaxing restaurant. While it was obvious that this was more of a banquet room, the tables were clean and the chairs very comfortable. There were few people in the restaurant but after looking at the menu I was optimistic that it would be a enjoyable dining experience. My friend and I were famished and all she talked about as we were getting ready to go out for the night was how she loved the fried tostones. So of course the first thing we ordered when we sat down was tostones but this time I made sure to get an order of Yuca Frito con mojo. My friend is not really a meat eater, so when I got the yuca she was in heaven!!! For entrees I was immediately taken back to my trip to the Island when I saw the Boliche and the Arroz Amarillo. Once I had time to peruse the menu, I had a feeling that we were going to enjoy this meal. Boliche is a of eye round roast stuffed with chorizo sausages simmered in a tomato sauce base. ****stars Arroz Amarillo is a yellow rice which was topped with black beans. ****stars After my companion had finished ALL of the appetizers, she attempted to dig into a Lobster Enchilado. I was left in awe watching this 5’2′ beauty stuff all that food into that little body. Lobster Enchilado is lobster and other seafood cooked in a mildly spicy tomato sauce. We spent the rest of the night chatting with the staff about my visit to the island, politics and how things are changing. I really wanted to give this place 4 stars, but the banquet style set up just didn’t pass the bar. if this would have been our first stop on our trip, it would have been 4 stars hands down. The food was authentic comfort food and took me back down memory lane. If you dont mind a drafty, spacious banquet room, then this is a definite stop.
