Hong Kong market has been in existence ever since I’ve been born(23 years) and has always been helpful in all my needs. The owners have have watched me grow from a little girl to a young woman but have not changed a bit. They are still extremely friendly and have a lot of care for their small Asian market. Even with new renovations to the plaza, the interior is still the same and is kept pretty well for such an old store. They have a large variety on products even though they are smaller than other markets. They carry more Speciality items and offer their products at a lower price than most. If you need something, they can order it for you.

Hong Kong Market appears to be in a relatively new building in a newer strip mall but both in a somewhat disheveled condition. As is clear from the name, it’s a Chinese food market, small, slightly on the grimy side, rather disorderly but cram packed nearly to the ceiling with all sorts of Chinese foods as well as various cookwares. The assortments of canned and frozen foods are vast with many of them being unique even to Chinese markets. They have fresh quail eggs as well as two selections of canned quail eggs, a choice of pickled cabbage and on the unique side canned long tailed anchovy and frozen belt fish, items which I rarely see elsewhere. As for fresh foods there are fish, though the milky coloration of their eyes would indicate them not to be fresh enough for my liking as well as live lobster kept in salt water tanks. All in all, two things that can’t be beat and my main reasons for going Three Stars instead of Two Stars, overlooking other shortcomings, are the uniqueness of their selections and the budget basement low prices. I’ve really never encountered lower prices for certain items than I found here.

You could try it but it is small, limited and typical cramped in. Not worth my trip to return. I am sure I can find a better, cleaner, nicer staffed Asian grocery.

This is a small little grocery store with tons of things crammed inside. There’s a fish tank in the back with some dungeness crabs and a bucket full of eels. I was pleasantly surprised to find Pocky snacks in different flavors I haven’t seen in other asian markets.

I think its been redone now, unless it’s an old sign. cantonese patrons. place is fairly clean, everything in order neatly. one fish tank in the back. vegetables like yu choy, bok choy, chinese okra, all seem pretty good. can get bamboo shoot, not much fresh noodle, do have the sweet vinegar sauce. everything laid out nicely.

Hong Kong Market is a smaller more Chinese-oriented grocery store. It’s closer to my house but my family still prefers to go to A Dong Oriental Food Market down the street on St. Rd 7⁄441. This place is known for its video-rentals! Tons of VHS tapes of various Hong Kong films/television shows, animes(dubbed in cantonese), etc. You can also buy some chinese pop cds here too. Why 2 stars? Cause there’s a bigger, well stocked Asian market down the street. For some reason, Unilocal is listing this in Fort Lauderdale but don’t be deceived. It’s in Tamarac, FL right next to North Lauderdale.
