I have used Enterprise Rent-A-Car in San Jose and it definitely was the best customer service experience in my life, so much so that I referenced them in a company leadership summit! Unfortunately, Enterprise does not roll out their level of customer service consistently across the nation. I recently rented in Tallahassee and this has single handedly been the worst customer service experience in my life. I was not provided an Enterprise representative led inspection of the car, rather they simply handed me the keys and stated the car was in the parking lot. Partially my fault, since I initialed/signed the rental form, however after a red eye flight, I was just going through the motions. I drove the car to Georgia stopping once to grab something to drink and dropped it off on Monday morning. When I was getting something to drink I noticed that it appears that someone attempted to break in the car as there were scratch marks inside the door jam. Please note that in no way could anyone have seen that with a walk around. When I returned the car, I advised the representative of the damage. Long story short they are putting this one on me! I sent a letter, emailed and responded to every call they have made to me. Their response is the standard… you are responsible. I have even offered to pay for and take a lie detector test! Interestingly enough shortly after renting the car, my credit card was fraudulently used in Florida… coincidence? maybe… but the poor handling of this incident leads me to believe otherwise. End of story, they don’t care to discuss this with me at all. I am a professional and have no need to place blame on anyone else if I am truly at fault.
