Chop Chop Movers

Scam Scam Company… I was referred to Chop Chop Movers by someone who had used their services a year ago. When I called Chop Chop Movers, I spoke to a woman who gave me a verbal quoted price of $ 225 for a Studio apartment move with $ 80 for each hour over the 3 hour minimum. She insisted that she would «email» me the quote before the scheduled move which was scheduled for the next day. When the movers arrived the next day, they did not discuss the quote, they just proceeded to assess the contents of the move. The 2 movers were very polite and courteous, but came to the move very ill-​equipped for an apartment move for services that were pay by the hour. That was the first red flag. They had only one hand truck, no furniture dollies and they were aware that we had over 10 – 15 boxes a bed, desk and chairs, etc. This was strategic on the part of Chop Chop Movers because it exhausted the 3 hours base move time dramatically because it took them triple the time it would have taken men who had enough equipment to move goods. We even had to jump in to help the movers because of the amount of time it was taking them to load and unload the truck was ridiculous. During this process of helping the movers, we noticed their clipboard that had a quoted price of $ 385 for 3 hours with $ 80 for every additional hour!!! The verbal quoted price had ballooned an additional $ 160 overnight. By this point, almost all of our things were on their truck. After the move, which took 4 hours, was completed, we ended up paying Chop Chop Movers $ 685, ($ 485 + $ 100 tip for each mover) which is outrageous given the fact that this was a studio apartment. The day after the move, we got an email from Chop Chop Movers with a quote of $ 225 for 3 hour move. We also noticed that one of the movers had broken one of the knobs off of one of our bedside tables and put the broken piece inside of the drawer and did not mention that it was broken. I would suggest that you rent a truck from U-​Haul, get enough equipment for the move and hire movers standing on the street corner before you use Chop Chop Movers!

I hired Chop Chop to do a small move across town. Service was fast and professional. I will definitely hire them again.

Very unprofessional, gave me a quote for 2 printers and then changed the price by $ 100 dollars the thing is the move was only 3 blocks. Who charges that kind of money to go 3 blocks, they got me messed up. I definately would never use them or recommend them to people, all they want to do is chop chop your wallet.

By far the worst moving experience I have ever had — and I have moved many times over the past several years. Most of my move was going to be self-​move but I really wanted to hire professional movers for my larger items. In total, that was: queen bed, king bed, dining table, buffet, and washing machine. Move my was only 8 minutes down the road so I couldn’t imagine this would take too long.
Scheduled the movers to arrive at 10am. After multiple calls throughout the day they arrived at 4pm. The only tool they had was a screw driver… Good thing I had an Alan wrench handy.
To keep the post short, they tore up my walls, tore off light switches, broke my banister and left it in partial repair, and slid my washing machine on concrete and moving trucks without padding on all sides, knocking off knobs and dials in the process. I then watched in horror as one of the movers tried to lift my washing machine by its plastic tray. Before I could yell «stop» the damage was done. He tore off the tray completely. Shrugged, then handed me the tray and continued the lift from where the tray had been.
My communication with the owner, Sean McNeill, started off without issue. He isn’t good about getting back to people but he did promise a vendor. My move happened Nov 1^st. The day the vendor was to arrive came and went (December 7^th) without any sign of anyone having ever been scheduled. Today is January 19^th. Since December 7^th I have left multiple voicemails, messages with workers, and emails. All to no avail. Now I am under the district impression that I am being avoided completely because every time I call I am told Sean is not there and call back. And repeat.
This company does poor work and has poor customer service, to put it lightly. STAY AWAY!

then did not have a truck to move my goods
Had to rent truck on my own at last minute whcih was huge cost
truk was small so had to do multiple trips which added to cost
I have now disputed charge on my CC
Do yourself a favor — NEVER USE THIS FIRM
All-​in-​all it was a terrible experience.
