This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Tahoe city. They have a great bar, great happy hour with really good prices if you come in earlier than 6:30PM I think. Also over the years that I’ve been coming here the staff is always been very warm and friendly. They also have a great location next to the lake, if it’s nice you could walk down on the docs and check out the views. PS they have good TVs if you want to see sports, and their food portions are really generous. They have great chips and salsa and guacamole.

Wife and I wanted to dine here for happy hour Thursday, 2−4−16. When we entered, the waiter said to choose our seat. We wanted to have the better water view, so we sat in the lower section. When asked what we wanted, we asked about the happy hour specials, and were told we’d have to be in the bar area to be served happy hour food/drinks. Why offer to let us sit any where, without saying at first that happy hour was in the bar only, then tell us after we sat ourselves? Yes, we wanted the better view, and since it was not that busy(maybe 4 – 5 bar tables being used, and us the only ones in the lower level), why not be flexible with happy hour offerings? Oh well, at least the cheese enchilada a la carte was good…

We enjoyed dinner tonight with 5 adults and 216 month old toddlers(twins). Both the food and the service were excellent. They were VERY quick to get the boy’s food out and the drinks. The food was very good, everyone enjoyed their meals. It was a quick and easy meal and things are NEVER easy with twins. Thank you hacienda del lago for being a great option in Tahoe City.

We were very hungry and looked at some reviews in our travel book(yes a book) and we saw this place with great Spanish style food(which we love) so we stopped in. sadly it had changed names but the food was amazing. I ordered the chicken burrito and can honestly say it was the best I ever had, and I have had quite a few. The view is very nice(on the lake). Service was good and our waiter was very friendly and gave us lots of time to decide on our drinks etc., no pressure. it was a bit on the worn side with dirty carpets but apart from that I gave it an 8 out of 10. Great for casual dining and drinks.(not fancy).

Seated quickly water brought drinks ordered. Our waiter was good. Didn’t get the view we wanted but other seats were taken. Fajitas and tortillas were tasty. Fried ice cream was a good end of meal desert. As advertised. I’m sure some folks have a bad experience but we had a positive experience. And would come back.

We were actually looking for another restaurant and stumbled across Hacienda Del Lago by accident! We walked inside to take a peek at the restaurant and it had beautiful views of the marina, open windows towards the lake and a really fun bar. The escalade margaritas were really good and strong! I also ordered a mango margarita that was delicious! We all sat at a table right by the windows and the food was great. We had tacos, chimichangas, seafood rellano, carnitas plate… Everyone was pleasantly surprised! This is definitely a place where the locals hang out and everyone knew each other’s names! The restaurant was very welcoming for it being our last night in the area. We could sip our drinks, chit chat and share plenty of laughs! It really was a pleasure to share our family dinner at Hacienda Del Lago!!!

The best fried ice cream ice ever had. I remember summers as a child coming up to Tahoe with my family. Each time was a bit different than the last but every trip we were always sure to stop at the hacienda and enjoy some Mexican food on the lake view deck. Call it tradition if you will. It’s been a few years since I have been up to Tahoe last. For a while this restaurant had changed over to something else so when I came up to visit a few weeks ago I was excited to see that it had changed back. The place was beautifully remodeled however Unfortunately the visit was less memorable from what I had remembered growing up. The food was just not the same. Fast forward to tonight. I was up in Tahoe camping and decided to give the hacienda another try. We started with chips and salsa which was hot and fresh. We ordered a pitcher of margarita and a piña colada. The drinks were on point and needless to say we enjoyed our visit. For dinner we had tacos, the carne Asada burrito with green sauce(awesome) and a couple combo plates. The flavors were great. The items were also perfectly portioned not too little nor too much. For dessert I ordered the fried ice cream and it was nothing short of amazing. The service was also great. Our server was prompt, courteous, helpful, attentive, and enjoyable to chat with. While we were finishing up our meal Rhonda(one of the owners) came by to check on our service and say hello. We gave our feedback on how great our experience had been and how it was completely the opposite of when we had visited a few weeks back. Apparently the long time chef had departed and there was previously someone else in the kitchen which explains our last visit. Good news! The original chef is back and the food is even better than before. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and service tonight made for a great experience. It brought me back to my childhood memories of the perfect summer. I will definitely be back.

NEWSISOUT — new ownership and the food is ON. POINT. You won’t be disappointed. These guys are really stepping it up and it shows. The view is unbeatable and the drinks are delicious, the service is prompt even when they’re slammed and full. This isn’t an easy town to do business in, and these guys have proved a lot through trials and tribulations. WELCOMEBACKCHACO and YAYRHONDA

So let me start by saying that i was here 2 weeks ago and the food was terrible! I came at my friends suggestion saying that he’d come here two previous years and the views and food were great. the view a 10 the food 2 if that. he begged me to give it another shot. So here we are today, and let me tell you things have changed in such a short time. 2 weeks ago i wouldnt call the food mexican. it was bland and a jumbled mess of slop. However today was night/day the food was excellent and authentic and our server lindsey was awesome! I dont know what changed but keep it that way. you gotta give this place a second shot if youre back in the area! Trust me

I honestly have never had worse service at a restaurant. It started out fine and they accommodated our large party that included 4 kids under 4 years old. We ordered shortly after being seated. Drinks came out first as expected but we’re nothing spectacular. The margarita was extremely sweet and unbalanced in flavor. But so far so good. The real problem began when it was 40 minutes after we ordered our food and it still hadn’t arrived. One person of our party approached the hostess counter(because the waiter was no where to be found) and asked to check on our food. Once the food came out, they warned of a really hot plate FORONEOFTHEKIDSMEALS!!! Who gives a hot plate to a child!!! One of the entrees was completely stone cold while a steak ordered medium was well done and hard as a rock. It was mentioned that we would appreciate some sort of a discount for the delay as well as some of the issues with the meal. Then it really went over the top when the manager came out claiming the ticket only showed us waiting for 20 minutes. He invited us to walk back and look at the ticket to prove his point and continued to argue that we need to «live in reality» and that it takes time to make the food. I mentioned the hot plate for a kid and cold entrees. He reluctantly said he’ll take care of the drinks and the cold entrée while still huffing and puffing. He then walked away muttering«This is bullsh**»… Within ear shot of the kids at our table. When a member of our party mentioned it was unnecessary to use that language in front of kids, the manager than invited him to «take it outside»… Whatever that was intended to mean. In the end he returned with excuses about being swamped last weekend during the 4th and having a new kitchen staff etc. and he did comp our entire meal. As we do fully appreciate the free meal, there was no need for the situation to escalate the way that it did. I have NEVER seen a manager act this way. I would love to give this place another try considering the view is beautiful, however the bad taste left in our mouth was greater than even a comped meal could fix(not to mention we were not the only party it seems that had a similar experience that night).

2.5 hours later we had stale chips, messed up orders, and overpriced«Mexican» that might fly in other states, but is unforgivable in CA. Their drinks were the only mildly redeeming part, but they were overpriced and the bartender charged us non-happy hour price even after we confirmed happy hour before ordering. I have never had this many issues and such slow service all at once. The views of the lake are nice, but do yourself a favor and appreciate them elsewhere.

So super sad to say this was one of the worst meals of my life. The food was so watery bland. I am happy with a plain tortilla, usually love all kinds of Mexican food and don’t need anything fancy. They have a new kitchen staff so hopefully they work it out soon. Waitress was super sweet and when we told them the food was terrible, they did take care of us. Margaritas were also flavorless and even when we bought more tequila to add to it, it was still bad. The manager never came over to say anything until we left, when he shouted at us «I bought your food, you should be talking to me.» Wow.

Excrement with rice and beans comes to mind after eating at Hacienda Del Lago, Tahoe City, CA. I ordered a combo chimechanga and chile relano. My host ordered just the chile relano. We agreed cooking the chile relano with the seeds was a bad idea for both the restaurant and the guests. It turns out we had to eat anti acid medication to stop from becoming very sick. Prices for dinner items are the usual greedy number: $ 15. for the combo and $ 9. for the CR, soft drinks $ 4. each. On top of everything else, they have the worst bathrooms and interior space this side of skid row. I would not let my dog eat here. I have enjoyed non-lethal Mexican food through out California, but never this terrible. Please avoid this place if you cherish your well being. Taco Bell and Del Taco can beat this place hands down for a lot less money and their food sucks. $ 35.00 with tip is too much money to charge for this SHIT.

I’ve had an excellent experience at Hacienda Del Lago. It’s hard to find good places to eat in a small town like Tahoe especially when are you on vacation or making a quick stop before going to Reno. The food here is top notch and excellent. It’s not sloppy like some of the other Latin restaurants and the portions are huge. They have a spot for drinks and the drinks are well mixed. You can’t go wrong with the burritos or shrimp fajitas! Must visit

I have had so many excellent dinners here! This Mexican restaurant & bar in the Boatworks has a gorgeous lakefront view, perfect for dining during sunset. They have an outdoor deck that’s open in the summer for dining, too. Hacienda Del Lago’s food is very well presented, not like other sloppy Mexican restaurants serve it. The quality is excellent, portions are perfect, and I am getting hungry just thinking about my favorite dish, shrimp fajitas! This restaurant is well-priced and has a casual atmosphere. With many dinner options on the menu, great drinks, and a lovely view — make this your top choice for your next dinner on the lake.

Mediocre. I don’t understand the positive reviews at all. I had the chimi combo and it was really not good. The beef in the chimichanga was very salty, had an odd taste. The chile relleno was the worst I’ve had in a long time. The chile didn’t taste fresh and had a very strange taste to it. Other friends in the group weren’t impressed, one commented how all the flavors seemed to blend to together in their combo entrée. Service was slow. It might be nice during lunchtime for the view, but not worth the mediocre food.

Went here for Valentines Day. We had a reservation and were seated immediately but then watched as people right next to us were seated after us and received water, chips, and even cocktails before we even got water. They received their food before we even got our cocktails. We had to ask for our drinks before they brought them 25 min. after being seated. Same server as the other people who were almost done eating. No apologies. We had the Enchiladas Del Mar and they weren’t great. Only good thing about this place is the view. We are locals and from now on if we want to go to a restaurant on the lake we will stick with Jakes or Sunnyside. If we want Mexican food there are so many great places in the Truckee/Tahoe area that are half the price with a friendly atmosphere.

I have been here several times and have never had a bad dish. Fajitas are well seasoned. The calabasa burrito is amazing. Tacos are a great go to choice for the undecided. Drinks are well mixed and very tasty. This place is right on the lake and has great views. Recommended for any meal. I went with or of town coworkers that were in town. Prices are very reasonable.

Came here on Cinco de Mayo and the happy hour did not disappoint. $ 3 dos equis and $ 4 fish tacos. Margs were strong and food was absolutely delicious. I think I ate my body weight in chips, salsa and gauc. I was extremely disappointed with the service though. The server was a grumpy, unhappy person who was incredibly hard to like. I understand its cinch de mayo and you’re busy, but honestly all we asked for is a few tacos and margs… not that hard.
