Nice selection of drinks here, seems a little slow service though and average tasting drinks, so overall I was slightly impressed, but not enough to make me a regular here, sorry Vinum.

I had my 40th birthday party at Vinum. It as an unusual situation because I live out of town now and was having to make all the arrangements from out of state. Jennifer and her team were very accommodating and helpful. The space is intimate and cozy with a stage and an upstairs. The location is perfect. I loved it! I highly recommend people use Vinum for their events or even for a cool spot to go after work!

I have been here often and have been very happy with the service, food, beer, wine etc. All day Monday is happy hour and it’s a great place to hang out at. That’s why I keep going back.

I recommend the Chicken, Pesto and Provolone grilled sandwich. Pretty darned good. However I just don’t like that you are restricted on your choices: what kind of bread it comes on(it’s a plain white bread) and you must get the chips that they happen to have on hand that day. Once I had to get Cheetos — I haaate Cheetos(wtf are they made of!?) and once it was Cool Ranch Doritos. For this price, I’d prefer a small side of pasta, potato salad or even a green salad. However the people there are really cool, they have a WSU sticker outside(Go Cougs!) and a chess table, paper/magazines, full bar, etc. Not sure about the purple color of paint though, but that’s just me being picky. Some very cool things in Vinum, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get food here unless they improved on a few details.

Very poor experience @ Vinnum; walked in, showed the person @ the counter(turned out to be Jennifer, the owner) my Groupon & she immediately said-«you cannot use any other discounts-no happy hour prices». I did not expecxt to use double discounts, but I didn’t ask to either. We ordered & sat down. Jennifer walked by our table & I had noticed on the menu that it said«seniors, military, police could have $ 5 sandwiches daily with identification». I asked her~“what age do you consider a senior”? & she was off!!! she said«your AARP card, but YOU cannot have any other discounts. She could not stop talking-was loud & aggressive. I started laughing when she said an AARP card was what she required for senior ID, & that seemed to really agitate her & she said twice«you are laughing– I am the owner & can ask for any ID I want». Now mind you-first of all I asked the question because I am an RN @ a nearby hospital & my co-workers & myself frequent downtown businesses all the time, so I thought I would put some cards or menus up at work(NOT); secondly, I thought I could reccommend the place to some of our senior patients & their families(NOT), & third an AARP card has nothing to do with seniors. I am 64 y/o & my husband is 79 y/o-have had AARP cards for a very long time. Jennifer didn’t know a thing about AARP cards-they have no photos on them(I could use anyone’s), they are for people who are retired over the age of 50; they cost $, when you join you can add your spouse without giving an age(because they want your BUSINESS-i.e I could be 50 y/o & my husband 25& could still have a card). I will never return & will make sure all my co-workers & friends are aware of how poorly we were treated there-Jennifer could not stop lecturing us, so no matter what the place was like, or how the food was-would never go back. Never have I been asked for ID to show that I am a senior that doesn’t have my photo &/or birthdate on it. Jennifer’s rudeness made us feel like the least welcome patrons ever.

These guys rock! There are some reviews on here regarding previous management. I work with Vinum on events and they are always great to work with. The wine and beer selection is great, I always enjoy the food, they recently started serving cocktails as well. Check Facebook for upcoming events like Open Mic Night and Spoken Word Night!

Visited in the late evening with 2 friends last month. It was a Friday night, but location was not busy by any means. There was live music playing, and staff was extremely friendly and solicitous. Draft from outside wasn’t the best, and seating was a bit awkward because our party of 3 had to crowd around a 2 seat table due to larger tables being babysat by single patrons(2 seat tables line one side of wall, larger tables on the other, pathway in between). Place was festive, but since I really just wanted to hang out, have some coffee, and chat with friends, I found the music to be a little loud. I ordered a caramel macchiato and a chicken caesar wrap, both good but not something I’d go out of my way to get here. Perfect example of an A okay spot :) I would probably visit again if in the area with plans to go out before/after.

If you want a classic wine room feel, this is not the place to go. However, the coffee and mochas are delicious, the barista is kind, and the food is pretty good and well priced. The window ledges are lined with games and books to entertain you while you sip your drink and they’re hosting a bunch of events every week. Don’t write it off due to bad reviews!

One of my New Years resolutions is to frequent locally owned businesses whenever feasible. That being said I walked a few blocks from my office to Vinum to give them a try. The concept is kind of strange; Lunch, Wine, Open Mic Nights. Seems like they are trying anything they can to draw a customer, which I totally get knowing the turnover this location has seen. I ordered a sandwich to go and was sorely disappointed when I got back to work and unwrapped it. For $ 9 I expected something halfway decent. It was dry, nuked chicken on soggy bread. Vinum still beats the Pita Pit but darn I wanted to like this place, I really did.

I went to open mic on tuesday and its a nice little place. I def. will be back for sure. the ambiance and staff is very friendly and comfortable. It reminded me of being back in California, which are full of places like this. Its a good spot to meet with people, catch up and get good decent food.

For everyone who has not been to this restaurant since they acquired new owners, you are missing out. I called ahead one night because I wanted to treat some friends to a nice place for an after church birthday party celebration, but everyone always wants to go to Applebee’s or the RAM(which is a suped up Applebee’s if you ask me, unless you order steak, which I believe is what actually sets them apart). They usually close at 10pm on Fridays, but because we had a big group they stayed open until we left(just for us, and we left at basically 1am). They have a pool table, which is a nice addition from the last time I went there, their drinks were good, and the food was fabulous for such low prices, where at some restaurants, you could easily pay more, and possibly receive lower quality. And they have so many great accommodations that they make for large groups, so I encourage you to call ahead if you are hosting a party are large get together. Don’t believe the(negative) hype. I used to work in food service, and some people can be complete ninny’s when it comes to their expectations. Vinum is a casual dining experience, but I can definitely say that the staff there went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate my group.

Extremely disappointed. We decided to split a salad and a sandwich, and each ordered a gin and tonic with our dinner. The drinks tasted like straight tonic. An employee must have overheard us, because he approached us asking how our tonic water was. The woman who took our order then came over and rudely asked us if our drinks were ok. A few minutes later, while my girlfriend was mid bit on our half eaten salad an employee came and asked if she was finished with it. When he returned a few minutes later to the still not finished salad we decided it was time to leave. I will not return.

The relaxed stylish ambiance of Vinum and the very friendly, personable staff means a return trip very soon. I was reminded of the type of places in California where one might look up and see Pebo, Brian or Nora relaxing at a table, Mary J or Keysha, discussing the cuts to be included on their latest Cd’s; Ed, Boney, J.J., many of the Blues/Jazz Legends and local crooners sipping on one of the high end wines. Yes, even author Jewels Prophet working on her latest manuscript undisturbed. The perfect getaway spot! So, Michelle dress in your favorite disguise or not and we will see you there!

The Denny’s of wine bars. Nothing special. Not a serious coffe shop either since they don’t open until between 9&10am… not consistent. Not bad, but with all the other choices in the area, I wouldn’t bother.

My Sister was visiting and we went in to sample some wine. I’ll make this short. We asked for a wine list. The girl at the front said there wasn’t a list, but she could tell us what they had available. Our looks of puzzlement were to no avail. She continued to smile. Was this not a wine bar? We told her we’d like to know the selection because we weren’t sure what we wanted. She said, and I quote«well, we have red wine and we have white wine’…I told her we needed a minute to decide. She went into the back. I looked at my Sister and said«Run!». And we did.

Vinum is no longer closed. It has reopened and as of yesterday, partially operational. I say partially because this wine lounge is seeking a new liquor license. There was an apparent change in ownership in recent weeks/months. I think the challenge for this place is it looks a little high end and one doesn’t quickly associate a coffee and wine lounge with food… or at least I don’t. The exterior is nicer than many of the storefronts in Downtown Tacoma so that only adds to the trepidation some may have. But once you walk in, you realize they have a good size menu. You order from the counter and they bring out the food to which ever table you sit at. The food was good — I had a reuben and my coworkers had the spicy chicken sandwich. Nothing spectacularly different with my reuben but this is Tacoma and any place I can have a decent lunch works for me. I was hoping to have a beer but totally understand the wait for proper licensing. But it was a disappointment nonetheless. Because of the lack of alcohol on this day, it didn’t exceed my expectation but I shall return when I see the taps back on the counter. I do hope people give this place a shot though.

Really like this place. Nice for afterwork for a nice glass of wine(although I have yet to do so) or perfect for lunch. The service is great. You order at the counter and then someone will bring you your food. Literally from the moment I ordered until I had a sandwich was like 1 minute. Very fast service! I have had there Arroz con Pollo– really neat version of this Mexican Classic. Sylvian tuna salad which they flavor up the Tuna very well and the cucumber salad dressing is devine! It comes in a large bowl w/bread and is quite filling– they don’t skimp, and there sanwiches. Delish! Also it looks like they fresh make Tamales everyday although I have not tried.
