Mandarin Palace

I’m always willing to give hole in the walls a shot. I’ve had some amazing food from those types of places. The guy ordering in front of us even said it was good.
It was awful, There was little flavor and it just seemed slapped together. And the next day my roommate and I both were sick.
Definitely not going back.

Just moved here. Ordered delivery. Came quick and hor. Sesame salad dressing is BEST EVER. Food perfect. Chow mein, wings, and teriyaki.

Not sure what has been happening, but I’ll assume they hired a new cook. The food has been slowly getting worse and worse on each visit, and I eat here a LOT. Even started taking my new girlfriend. NO MORE!
I was bragging to my girlfriend about how awesome their sweet & sour and teriyaki are, then they let us both down. They used to have the best Mongolian Beef, but lately it’s been mostly onions! The sweet & sour chicken is always dry and crunchy these days. The teriyaki these days is getting horrible! In fact, last time we went, they apparently just poured the bottle on the meat instead of marinating it like a good place would do. It was SO STRONG, I almost choked and gasped for air on each bite! The plate was flooded with teriyaki sauce!
So, looks like my FORMER favorite place for Asian food has eventually become my least favorite, and I don’t believe I will EVER eat here again!
LATEST UPDATE December 29^th, 2015: Just drove by there the other night and found it CLOSED and boarded up! See, apparently I wasn’t the only customer who stopped going. Looks like they got so dead they couldn’t afford to stay in business.

Just tried for 1^st and last time 5÷18÷2014 1^st its a small hole in the wall kind of place in which I don’t mind as long as the food is good. I ordered shrimp lo mien and a simple order of egg rolls. what I got was pure trash not fit for a rat. THIS IS NOT CHINESE FOOD AT ALL, ITS KOREAN and just AWFUL crap. the shrimp still had its tails on so if you want to get it like a normal lo-​mien dish you can’t because you have to DE-​tail each shrimp. the noodles were gross fat noddles only vegetables were cabbage and squash and too much hot spices, I did ask for spicy but it was covered in red peppers like they just poured from a bottle all over dish, it was a small portion and one clump of cold white rice in which does NOT go into lo-​mien, they don’t even know what shrimp lo-​mien is.” frigging gross” does no justice to what I’m saying… sickening gross not fit for a RAT let alone a human. the egg rolls were also not Chinese or even close also cold. luckily I only live 20 or so blocks away, I called and told them what I’ve said here and that I want a refund, they tried the WE will give you discount next time, I said NO NEXT time and I wanted a refund now, she said we are closing, I drove up there in like 5 minutes walked in and demanded my refund and they gave it to me at once. If you have NO taste buds in your mouth and do not care what you put into your body then go for it BUT stay away from this horrible NOT CHINESE food hole in the wall if you do care what you eat and like Chinese food. Sorry to do a review like this but I do not want to see anyone lose money here or getting sick and pay no attention to the good reviews, it ain’t so, its HORRIBLE.

Decent dishes all we got was teriyaki chicken which I would get again, chicken yakisoba which I would not get again and beef bulgogi which was awful.
We had to wait for an hour and half for delivery when we only live two miles away.

The place isn’t bad. It’s not great either, but it’s on par for the Tacoma area. I haven’t found really any good Chinese food here in this area so I’m open to suggestions. This place delivers to my house so I can’t complain.

We ordered delivery, we live maybe a mile from the place, order took about 30 minutes, which is fine. We got our food, the ONLY thing that was any good was the teryaki pork. The fried rice is just like regular white rice with a little brown coloring and FROZEN mixed veggies. The chow mein was disgusting, i dont know what it was but it was gross! Sweet and sour chicken was alright, but I have defiantly had better! Over all it seemed like a wanna-​be Chinese restaurant. So if you order from here, stick to the teryaki!

Terrible, from start to finish.
As soon as I called the restaurant, the woman on the phone said hello, and then as soon as I started speaking, she turned to another person in the background and started yelling to them in Chinese. This wasn’t such a big deal, but once I began asking if they would deliver, she said yes, but only in a 3 mile radius. I was 3.3 miles away, and she asked me if she could call me back after she checked if the distance was ok. So, I waited 20 minutes for her to call me back, and ended up having to phone her back to see what the wait was. She AGAIN asked me if she could call me back in 10 minutes… At this point, I was frustrated and just asked if I could just come in and order to which she just replied yeah, yeah, and hung up.
Still willing to give this place a shot, I drove to the restaurant where I met three other VERY dissatisfied customers who advised me to just not bother with ordering b/​c the wait was insanely long. One even said that she ordered at 7pm, and at after 8:30 pm, the food was still not ready! I just then turned around and left without getting any food.
The name of the restaurant is Mandarin Palace, but the food was sushi and other Japanese items and the online menu from Urban Spoon was all traditional Chinese food and nothing like the one this restaurant had on the wall, which makes me think that there might have been a change in management.
Overall, the customer service was terrible, and they were «so busy with customers» that they couldn’t take my order. When I arrived, I found out that they were so busy with food for three customers. I can’t review on food since I never even had the opportunity to place an order. Never again will I go to this place…
