My experiences at this place have been inconsistent and mixed. There are some good points, and I hope they build on those and fix some of the issues that I found annoying. I’ll try them again if they’re still open in a year or two, mostly because the location is very convenient for me; but meanwhile, there are other massage places that I’ve found to be reliably excellent(though less convenient, unfortunately). I’ve been to Kai Kai three times in spring and summer of 2015. The first time, the masseuse was very good, and significantly helped me with some back and shoulder pain I was feeling; well worth the $ 50 for an hour(plus $ 20 tip; which is what I’d want, if I had to massage some overweight dude). I would rate that experience 5 stars for the massage itself, and maybe 2 stars for the facility and décor, which is – ah, how to say — reminiscent of a low-budget motel that has seen better days.(Everything seemed clean, at least; I was not worried about sanitation.) Since the massage had been great, I went back a few weeks later. Unfortunately, I couldn’t recall the masseuse’s name, but she probably wasn’t on duty anyhow because it was 11 p.m. A good thing about Kai Kai — they’re open until midnight; so I squeaked in under the wire for an hour-long session. This time the masseuse was assertive, verging on pushy especially about her tip; but once she figured out that I was in serious pain(which was why I was there so late — pain was preventing me from sleeping) and not looking for a «happy ending», she was friendly and full of advice. Unfortunately, the massage itself was only so-so, and she cut it a little short(I assumed she wanted to close up and go home). It did help somewhat, but ibuprofen helped more. I’d rate this a 3 for the massage itself, a 5 for being open late, a 2 for being unprofessional about the tip and for cutting the session short, and a 2 for the crummy facilities; so overall, maybe a 3.5. I returned in August 2015, hoping to get the masseuse I’d had the first time; not in serious pain, but wanting to keep the shoulder loosened up. I had yet a different masseuse. The massage — meh. Cutting the session 10 minutes short — pbbbbbt! The facilities — still crummy. Overall, 1.5 or 2.0. Their good points — at least some of their staff is competent and compassionate; their attitudes all are friendly; the three I spoke with have no trouble with English; their hours and location are very convenient, at least for me. Like I said, I’ll try them again in a year or so, but for now I’m done with this place.
